BOSTON -- Two players violated league concussion protocol during last weekends wild-card games, according to a letter sent by the NFLs head, neck and spine committee chairmen to all team doctors and trainers. Stitched Bruins Jerseys . In a document obtained by The Associated Press, Drs. Hunt Batjer and Richard Ellenbogen said one player re-entered the game and another refused to leave the sideline. The doctors did not identify the players, but one was Green Bay tackle David Bakhtiari, who went into the game for an extra-point try despite being examined for a concussion and not cleared. The other player was Saints cornerback Keenan Lewis, who remained on the sideline but did not get back on the field. "On two occasions last weekend, and contrary to the advice of the team medical staffs, players who had been diagnosed with a concussion and therefore declared ineligible for play nonetheless refused to leave the sidelines as required by league concussion protocols," the letter said. "In one case, the player went back onto the field for one play before being removed from the game." The doctors found "no fault" in how the team medical staffs conducted themselves. "If a player refuses to follow your advice and leave the sidelines after being diagnosed with a concussion, we recommend that the head athletic trainer seek assistance from the players position coach (or another member of the coaching staff) or from another team official to remove the player from the sidelines as soon as possible," the letter said. The NFLs Madden Rule requires a player diagnosed with a concussion to be taken to the locker room or another quiet location. "We will continue working with the league to ensure that team doctors, coaches, trainers and other members of a teams medical staff enforce return-to-participation protocols," the NFL Players Association said in an email. "Players naturally want to play and ultimately, the game-day medical and coaching staffs have the responsibility and obligation for player protection and care." The Saints and Packers declined comment. No fines will be imposed for the violations. Bakhtiaris season is over because Green Bay lost to San Francisco. But Lewis Saints are playing Saturday at Seattle and he has been practicing. Batjer and Ellenbogen noted in the letter how players may resist being kept out of the game, particularly during the post-season. "But (the rule) is an important element of the leagues protocol and intended to safeguard the players well-being and enhance his ability to recover from his injury," they wrote. At the 2013 Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, I met Eric Tulsky, who presented research on the value of controlled zone entries (short answer: about twice as valuable to enter with control of the puck rather than dumping it in) and Sznajder had charted a couple hundred games that were included in that study. Now they have to do it again one more time Sunday. The American, Colombian and Brazilian who have celebrated some of their biggest career moments at Indianapolis each made daring runs over the final 80 minutes Saturday to take the top three seeds heading into Sundays Indianapolis 500 shootout. Carpenter finished first with a four-lap qualifying average of 230.661 mph. Munoz was second at 230.460. "I wasnt sure we were going to go 230 in our first run, so I was relieved when we did," Carpenter said. "But to be honest, I didnt think going into qualifying I was going to exceed 230." Others drivers thought Carpenter would, and it only took one practice lap and one qualifying lap to assuage any doubts. Carpenter, the fifth car on the track, averaged 230.114 then sat around all day as other drivers tried to knock him off the top rung. Nobody caught him until a rain delay ended at 4:18 p.m. Then in a flurry of speed, Andretti Autosport driver James Hinchcliffe knocked Carpenter off the pole, Munoz knocked Hinchcliffe, his teammate, off the pole, and Carpenter retook the pole. He finished the day waiting 65 minutes to see if it would stand. Normally, the reward for surviving such tension would be celebrating a pole win. Instead, under the new qualifying format, all Saturday did was assure Carpenter and the other eight top cars of a top-nine starting spot on Indys traditional 33-car starting grid. Each of the top nine will have one qualifying run Sunday with the fastest claiming the coveted No. 1 starting spot for the May 25 race. The success of Carpenter, Munoz and Castroneves was hardly a surprise. Carpenter, last years pole winner, had one of the fastest cars in practice Thursday and Friday. If he wins the pole again Sunday on the track his stepfather, Tony George, once ran, Carpenter would be the second driver since 1990 to earn consecutive poles at Indy. Castroneves also did it in 2009 and 2010. Munoz, meanwhile, drives for Michael Andretti, whose team has consistently put four or five drivers in the top 10 all week. In 2013, Munoz made his InndyCar debut here and responded by qualifying second, finishing second and walking away as the 500 rookie of the year. Boston Bruins Store. "I was questioning myself, the team, everything before, but as soon as I hit the track I forgot everything," Munoz said. "The car was really fast, and its a shame we wasted that second outing. I think were looking strong, and well see what happens tomorrow." Castroneves owns three 500 wins and three pole wins at Indy -- all for team owner Roger Penske. But there was plenty of intrigue, too. Kurt Busch, the fourth driver to attempt "the double" by racing in Indy and Charlotte on the same day, May 25, nearly made it into the pole shootout, too. He was bumped with 39 minutes left in qualifying when 2000 Indy winner Juan Pablo Montoya surpassed Buschs speed of 229.960. Busch could have bumped his way back into the fast nine had he not already left for NASCARs All-Star race in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was scheduled to be back in Indy for Day 2 when the top 30 starting spots will be determined. Two other Andretti drivers, Hinchcliffe and Marco Andretti, overcame unusual circumstances to reach the shootout. Hinchcliffe was fourth (230.407) despite spending most of this week recovering from a concussion. Andretti actually withdrew his original qualifying time to move into a shorter line, then waved off on another attempt before making it back to No. 6. Frances Simon Pagenaud, who won the inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis last weekend, was seventh. Carpenters teammate, JR Hildebrand, and Sarah Fishers driver, Josef Newgarden, also made the shootout, though Chip Ganassis four drivers were shut out. "I think we need to find a little more speed," Charlie Kimball said. "As a team, the fact that we arent in the top nine would prove that. We all work toward that goal, having four of our cars in the top nine. It was a lofty goal, but that was the expectation within the team." This time, theyll all be watching Carpenter and the rest of the gang. "We came in with a good car and a good package from last year," Carpenter said. "Like I said, with the second car here, weve been able to try some more things than what we did last year." ' ' '

DETROIT - David Price walked off the mound Tuesday night wondering if he had just blown the AL Central title for his new team. USWNT Pro Shop .It didnt take long for his team to improve his mood. After Price blew a 3-0 lead in the top of the ninth, the Detroit Tigers only needed three batters to pull out a 4-3 victory and hold on to their one-game lead in the division. With the score tied 3-3, Ian Kinsler led off the ninth with a single, took second when Jake Petricka (1-6) walked Torii Hunter and scored when Miguel Cabrera lined a base hit to left field.I went into the top of the ninth knowing that I had to finish it off, Price said. I didnt care if I gave up two runs, but I couldnt give up three. Im just glad that our offence saved me.Hunter agreed that the offence wanted to make a statement and pick up Price. When youve got a 3-0 lead in the top of the ninth and David Price on the mound, you think the game is over, he said. But then they tie it, and we had to go right back out there and win it. Kins did a great job, I had a good at-bat to draw the walk and then Miggy did what Miggy does. For most of the night, it looked like Price was going to show exactly why the Tigers had traded for him at the deadline, taking a three-hit shutout into the ninth. Adam Eaton singled and moved to third on Alexei Ramirezs double. That got Joe Nathan up in the pen, and after Jose Abreu struck out, Avisail Garcia lined a two-run single to centre.Brad Ausmus visited the mound, drawing boos from the crowd, but he left Price in.Dayan Viciedo flew out to right for the second out, and Paul Konerko, who was honoured by the Tigers before the game, singled to move Garcia to third. Marcus Semien then blooped a single to centre, tying the game. With the way David was pitching, it didnt look too good for us, White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. We got it to the bottom of the ninth, but first and second with no one out for Miggy isnt a great situation, either.Nathan (5-4) came in to get the final out, and picked up the victory after Petricka couldnt get an out in the bottom of the inning.White Sox rookie Scott Carroll allowed two runs a€” one earned a€” in six-plus innings. He gave up five hits and two walks while striking out four.Chicago almost broke a scoreless tie in the fifth, as Josh Phegley hit Prices 3-2 pitch to the wall in left, but J.D. Martinez had plenty of time to set himself at the wall and reach up to make the catch to rob a home run. Price broke into a wry smile as he watched Martinez make the play. The Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the inning. Rajai Davis singled, and was running on the pitch when Kinsler hit what would have otherwise been an easy double-play ball. Now in scoring position, Davis stole third and scored when Phegleys throw trickled past Marcus Semien and into left.Detroit used more speed to get a run in the seventh, as pinch-runner Andrew Romine was able to go from first to third on Semiens error, and score on Kinslers single. Hunter followed with a ground-rule double to make it 3-0.TRAINERS ROOMWhite Sox: Eaton returned to the lineup after missing two games to deal with a personal matter. He led off against Price. ... With the White Sox out of the race, LHP Chris Sale will make his final start of the season on Wednesday instead of starting Tuesday and Sunday on normal rest. Ventura said that with Sale having been injured earlier this year, it made sense to ease him into the off-season.Tigers: RHP Anibal Sanchez (pectoral strain) was activated from the disabled list before Tuesdays game, and will finish the season pitching out of the bullpen. Ausmus said, because of Sanchezs outstanding pitch selection, he plans to use him in high-leverage situations.UP NEXTThe teams finish the three-game series Wednesday afternoon with Sale (12-4, 2.20) facing Justin Verlander (14-12, 4.68) in each pitchers last start of the regular season.CELEBRATING KONERKOBefore the game, the Tigers honoured Konerko by presenting him with a framed box containing a first-base bag, a jar of dirt from the right-handed batters box and a list of his accomplishments at Comerica Park. He leads all visiting players in hits, runs, total bases and RBIs since the stadium opened in 2000, and trails David Ortiz by one home run.NO ROOKIE JITTERSCarroll said that he had a great time pitching in a pennant race, even if it wasnt his team that is in contention.Thats certainly as close to a playoff game as Ive ever come, he said. It was really cool. Wholesale USWNT Jerseys . Joel Embiid was nearly unstoppable in the paint in the second half, and Naadir Tharpe seemingly couldnt miss. Custom USWNT Jerseys . Even Roberts was a bit surprised to beat the captain in that competition, and he did it at a key moment for the New York Yankees. Roberts hit a tiebreaking solo homer in the ninth inning, and the Yankees beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 Tuesday night for just their second victory in seven games. Roberts connected with two outs against Ernesto Frieri (0-3), putting his first homer with his new club into the elevated right field stands. After the game, the ball was nestled in the locker of the longtime Baltimore infielder. "Never hit a homer in any other uniform, so Ill take it home," said Roberts, who also had an early RBI single. "I feel like Ive gotten a lot more comfortable. Sometimes, some things just click. Its been nice to get something going a little bit." After a slow start in pinstripes, Roberts is steadily improving at the plate, according to manager Joe Girardi. The Yankees unassuming replacement for second baseman Robinson Cano now has the same number of homers as Cano has hit for the Seattle Mariners this season. Alfonso Soriano had a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning, and David Robertson pitched the ninth for his fifth save in an all-around encouraging effort by the Yankees. Hiroki Kuroda had his longest and best start of the season, allowing just one earned run and not walking a batter while striking out eight in 7 2-3 innings. The Japanese right-hander is winless in four starts, but he largely shut down the Angels. "When Kuroda pitched the way he did, you need to win those games," Roberts said. Mike Trout tripled and scored the tying run on Albert Pujols two-out single off Shawn Kelley (1-2) in the eighth inning for the Angels, who had won five of seven on their nine-game homestand. Erick Aybar and Trout drove in runs with consecutive sacrifice flies in the third inning for the Angels, but their combustible bullpen let them down again after eight solid innings by C. USWNT Jerseys 2020. J. Wilson. Frieri had been pitching well since losing his job as the Angels closer, and manager Mike Scioscia isnt discouraged. "(Frieri) just made one mistake tonight," Scioscia said. "He just yanked one pitch to Roberts, but give Roberts credit. He was ready for it." The Angels couldnt reward Wilson, who yielded seven hits and struck out five in just his second non-winning start since April 1. Wilson hit Jeter with a pitch to open the eighth, and Carlos Beltrans seeing-eye grounder up the middle sent Jeter to third. Jeter was tagged out after Mark Teixeiras grounder, but Sorianos single to left easily scored Beltran. "This is a lineup that typically goes up there and swings for damage," Wilson said of the Yankees. "But today they made a concerted effort to put the ball in play and make contact. I didnt have a lot of strikeouts because they were just fighting pitches off and stuff. They did a really good job of that." Trout snapped an 0-for-12 skid with a two-out triple off the top of the right-field wall in the eighth, barely missing a tying homer. Trout has never gone more than 14 at-bats without a hit in his major league career, but he had something close to a slump when he struck out on a pitch in the dirt to end the fifth, stranding two runners. "We all know how good a hitter he is," Kuroda said through a translator. "At that moment (in the eighth), I tried to just attack him and see how it goes. I dont feel bad about it." The hit chased Kuroda, and Pujols worked a full count from Shawn Kelley before delivering a clean single to left-centre. NOTES: Jeter was serenaded with chants of his name and a standing ovation for the second straight night of his final regular-season series at the Big A. He reached base three times, getting the Yankees first hit in the third inning. ... Wilson has thrown at least 111 pitches in all seven of his starts this season. ... Kuroda is winless in his last 10 road starts. ' ' '

MUNICH, Germany -- Sergio Ramos has his redemption, Cristiano Ronaldo has his goal record and Real Madrid is one win away from the long-awaited "Decima. Kevin Porter Jersey ." Real Madrid carried out coach Carlo Ancelottis game plan to perfection and routed title holder Bayern Munich 4-0 on Tuesday to reach its first Champions League final in 12 years. Madrid will play either Chelsea or city rival Atletico Madrid in the May 24 final in Lisbon. Madrid, a 5-0 aggregate winner over Bayern, will be seeking a record 10th title -- "La Decima" in Spanish. "We played a perfect game in the first half, we defended very well and pressed very high," Ancelotti said. "We used the space we had for counters, with some great passing." Madrid had never won in Munich in 10 previous matches, losing nine of them. But this time, Ancelottis team put its stamp on the game early and struck with awesome efficiency -- something its Italian coach had promised ahead of the match. Madrids sweeping, fast counterattacks paced by Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Angel Di Maria, along with its tenacious tackling when Bayern tried to come out of the hosts own half, were a huge problem for Bayerns defence. However, the first two goals came from set pieces, as well as the last. Ramos, who missed the crucial penalty when Madrid lost to Bayern at the same stage in 2012 in a shootout, scored those first two goals and Ronaldo added two more to break the Champions League season record with a tally of 16. Ramos headed the first from a corner taken by Luka Modric in the 16th and nodded in the second four minutes later after a free kick from Angel Di Maria. "We prepared the set pieces and we used them to make things easy for us," Ancelotti said. "We knew they defend with a zone, not man to man." Ronaldo made it 3-0 to Madrid in the 34th minute after a perfectly executed counterattack and completed the victory with a free kick in the 89th as he shattered Barcelona star Lionel Messis record of 14 goals in a season. "Goals are great, satisfying on a personal level, but what matters is what we did as a team. The overall result was deserved," Ramos said. "Its a dream come true. Its a dream game, fantastic for all Madrid fans." After the final whistle, Madrid players put on T-shirts with the words Now for the 10th. It was a bitter defeat for Bayern coach Pep Guardiola, who had enjoyed so much success against Madrid when he was in charge of Barcelona. Bayern was seeking to become the first team to defend the Champions League title but instead slumped to its worst home defeat in the competition, and equaled its heaviest loss overall -- 4-0 away to Barcelona in 2009. Guardiola bemoaned the lack of possession in the first half -- although UEFA statistics show Bayern had two-thirds of possession for the game. "We didnt have ball possession and thats why we had no control," Guardiola said. "Its a great disappointment. 0-4 sounds very bitter," Bayern captain Philipp Lahm said. "We wanted a lot, but we failed tactically in the first half." Madrid had lost three consecutive semifinals, including a 2012 shootout when Ramos missed a penalty. Of five previous semifinal series against Bayern, Madrid had won only one. Coming into the match, Madrid had only two wins in 27 outings in Germany, with six draws. But Ancelotti had won with AC Milan in Bavaria and believed he could do it again. "Id won here, so thats why I felt confident about our chances here," the Italian said. "After 12 years to return to the Champions League final is very good for us." Holding midfielder Xabi Alonso will miss Madrids 13th final because of accumulated yellow cards. There is a good omen for Madrid: every time it had defeated a title holder, it went on to win the title -- in 1998, 2000 and 2002, the last two times getting through past Bayern, it the semifinals and quarterfinals, respectively. Madrid had won only two of its 27 previous matches in Germany, with six draws, but it has eliminated three German teams this season in succession -- Schalke, last seasons runner-up Borussia Dortmund and now Bayern. Ancelotti won the competition twice as a player with AC Milan in 1989 and 1990 -- under the European Cup format -- and then twice as coach of Milan in 2003 and 2007. Brevin Knight Jersey . -- Jaye Marie Green shot a course-record 10-under 62 on Wednesday to take the first-round lead in the LPGA Tours qualifying tournament. Campy Russell Jersey . Chelsea took until the second half to trouble the leagues bottom team, but Schuerrle then ripped through the defence with ease at Craven Cottage to keep Jose Mourinhos side on track for the title. https://www.cheapcavaliers.com/732q-john-johnson-jersey-cavaliers.html . Winnipeg trailed by five points in the final minute when quarterback Drew Willy completed a 13-play, 75-yard drive with Feoli-Gudinos 18-yard touchdown catch on third down to lift the Bombers to a 34-33 victory over the Montreal Alouettes on Friday night.CHICAGO -- Marian Hossa skated as if he had been recharged during a five-game vacation -- not sidelined for five games with an upper-body injury. The Blackhawks 35-year-old forward celebrated his return to the lineup with plenty of energy -- resulting in a key goal and two assists -- and Chicago defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 on Sunday night to snap a two-game losing streak. "Its great to come back and try to help the team," Hossa said. "Its five games, so I dont know how much fresher Ill be than the other guys. But theres some benefit, maybe." Hossa was back in action for the first time in two weeks. He was knocked out in the Blackhawks 5-1 victory over Pittsburgh at Soldier Field on March 1. On Sunday, Chicago lead 2-1 after 40 minutes, then Hossa put the game away with two big plays in the third period. "He changes the look, the complexion of our line, of our team game," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "We seem to have the puck a lot more when hes out there. "He made some nice finished plays and he definitely had some nice jump to his game, as well. It made a big difference having him back tonight." Hossa used his speed to give Chicago a 3-1 lead at 6:33 of the third. After taking a feed from Patrick Sharp, Hossa raced down the right wing, cut in around Detroit defenceman Brendan Smith and beat Jimmy Howard from close range. "He was coming with so much speed, I thought he was going to try to drag me across (the crease)," Howard said. Hossas set up Jonathan Toews short-handed goal with 2:10 left that iced it. After stealing the puck from Johan Franzen near Chicagos blue line, Hossa skated down the right wing. He pulled up and then fed Toews, who cut to the net and tucked in a shot. Ben Smith had a goal and assist, and Nick Leddy also scored for defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago, which is struggling to keep up with the top contenders in the Western Conference. Despite the win, the Blackhawks are 11-8-7 in 2014 and remained fifth in the conference and third in the Central Division. Gustav Nyquist scored for the injury-depleted Red Wings, who are desperate for wins as they try to get into the playoffs for the 23rd straight time. Chicagos Corey Crawford made 19 saves and Detroits Jimmy Howard had 26. "We felt good going into the third, but obviously Hossas goal really made it a ttwo-goal game and makes it tough for us," Detroit Daniel Alfredsson said. Darius Garland Jersey. The banged-up Red Wings played without 10 injured players, including stars Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. Forward Todd Bertuzzi joined the list Sunday, sitting out after suffering a lower-body injury Friday against Edmonton. "Once the game got to 3-1, its not as good a spot for our team," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "We dont have enough goals in our lineup to play like that. We were set up (at 2-1) and we let it slip away." The Blackhawks faced Detroit for the second time since beating them in overtime in Game 7 of their second-round playoff series last year to complete a comeback from a 3-1 deficit. The Red Wings defeated Chicago 5-4 in a shootout on Jan. 22 at Joe Louis Arena. The Blackhawks and Red Wings were division rivals for the past 31 years until Detroit moved from the Western to Eastern Conference this season. The Original Six teams were grouped together in the Central Division for the previous 19 seasons and in the Norris Division for 12 years before that. The Blackhawks outshot the Red Wings 11-5 in the scoreless first, but neither team generated sustained pressure or many prime scoring chances. The Blackhawks turned up the pressure early in the second and outshot Detroit 14-7 in the period. Leddys power-play goal, on Chicagos 19th shot, finally opened the scoring at 8:44 of the second. Nyquist tied it at 1 with 4:50 left in the period with a power-play goal that deflected in off the skate of Blackhawks defenceman Brent Seabrook. Smith put Chicago back in front 2-1 on a rebound with 14 seconds left in the period. Hossa then helped Chicago put the game away in the third. NOTES: Chicago F Brandon Saad didnt return for the third period after playing a total of 11 shifts. Quenneville said he had an upper-body injury and is day-to-day. ... Detroit RW Jordin Tootoo, recalled from Grand Rapids of the AHL on Saturday, filled in for Bertuzzi. ... Red Wings D Jakub Kindl was a healthy scratch. ... Before the game, Quenneville hinted that C Teuvo Teravainen, one of the Blackhawks top prospects, might join the team soon. Teravainens team in Finland, Jokerit, was eliminated from the playoffs Sunday. That paves the way for the 19-year-old forward, drafted in the first round by Chicago in 2012 (18th overall), to sign an NHL contract. ' ' '

TORONTO -- The numbers caught up with the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night. Malcolm Brogdon Jersey . So did the San Antonio Spurs. Without four new recruits from the Rudy Gay trade, the depleted Raptors ran out of steam against the well-stocked defending Western Conference champions. Led by Manu Ginobilis 16 points, seven Spurs scored in double figures as San Antonio recovered from a slow start to thump the Raptors 116-103 in NBA play. Toronto (7-13) led by as much as 14 in the first quarter but, with little help available on the bench, faded fast and San Antonio (16-4) pulled ahead as the game wore on. DeMar DeRozan and Amir Johnson led Toronto with 19 points. Tony Parker finished with 15 and Tim Duncan 14 as the Spurs went to their bench early. It was Torontos first game since the Gay trade was officially approved by the league, although the players involved sat out Sundays 106-94 road win over the Lakers. Toronto used just eight players in the win, snapping a five-game losing streak. "They got us in the second quarter. That was the difference in the game," said Toronto coach Dwane Casey. "I was really happy and proud with the way our guys executed in the first quarter. Kind of a carryover from the L.A. game and thats a good sign. "Again, theres no excuses in this league but Im going to chalk this one to travel a little bit, we ran out of gas. But youre talking about one of the best teams in the league in (San Antonio)." The Raptors -- returning home from a three-game West Coast swing -- were without Greivis Vasquez, Patrick Patterson, John Salmons and Chuck Hayes, acquired Monday in the deal that sent Gay, Aaron Gray and Quincy Acy to Sacramento. Forward Tyler Hansbrough was not available Tuesday, sidelined by a shoulder sprain. D.J. Augustin was waived on Monday. That left 10 players available to face the Spurs, with DeRozan and Terrence Ross struggling with their accuracy, shooting a combined 10 of 27. "You can make all the excuses. I dont want to make any excuses," said guard Kyle Lowry. "We just lost tonight." "It is what it is," DeRozan said of the Raptors lack of help. "Youve got to deal with it. We went out there and played hard." Patterson, Salmons and Hayes were due to arrive in Toronto late Tuesday with Venezuelas Vasquez slated to come in Wednesday due to red tape requirements. The Spurs, meanwhile, were in their third country in less than a week. San Antonio was in Mexico City last week for a date with the Minnesota Timberwolves that was eventually postponed due to smoke inside the arena. Tuesdays game was the first of four in five nights for the Spurs, who were coming off a 111-100 loss Sunday in Indiana. Three-point shooting helped the Spurs gain their lead. San Antonio, moving the ball around nicely before going cold late from outside the arc, hit 13 of 23 compared to 10 of 23 for Toronto. Toronto had 19 turnovers, which yielded 20 points. Centre Jonas Valanciunas looked good early Tuesday, sinking his first five shots with an arsenal ranging from a dunk and hook shot to put-back layup and tip. But he only scored four points the rest of the way. Led by the Lithuanian, Toronto made its first six baskets for a 13-6 lead before DeRozan missed a three-point attempt some four minutes in. The first quarter ended with the Raptors ahead 36-24 and shooting at 62.5 per cent compared to 47.8 for San Antonio. Torontos two bigs, Valanciunas and Johnson, combined for 20 points on 10-of-12 shooting while Spurs stars Duncan and Parker totalled eight points. "We played good basketball after the first quarter," said San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich. "We played very badly in the first quarter, no defence. Then we played pretty good ball after that." San Antonio took control in the second quarter, outscoring Toronto 35-17 as the Raptors missed on 14-of-22 shots. A 13-2 Spurs run at the start of the quarter narrowed the gap to one point and the visitors pulled ahead for the first time, 41-40, courtesy of an Aron Baynes dunk. San Antonio led 59-53 at the half, closing with a 13-4 run. Valanciunas and Johnson were stuck on 24 points after two quarters. Torontos shooting percentage was down to 50 while the Spurs improved to 54.8. The depleted Toronto bench was 1-of-7 shooting in the first half (9 of 25 overall) compared to 10 of 17 for the Spurs (23 of 38). San Antonio pushed the lead to 15, up 89-74 at the end of the third quarter. The game was pretty much over by then. Casey says plenty of work lies ahead for the new-look Raps. "Were going to treat (practice) Wednesday and Thursday like training camp, weve got so many new guys coming in," he said prior to the game. "Were going to go back to basics. Weve got to find out where guys can fit in." Ross got the start at small forward Tuesday, with Casey calling the six-foot-six Ross a "freak athlete" who is one of the most athletic players he has ever coached in the NBA. "Hes a great athlete. He just has to harness that, bring it in and be a complete player, and do it on a consistent basis." Tuesday was not his night to show it, however. He finished with 14 points on 4-of-13 shooting. "Hes a young kid but thats the only way hes going to learn, to be in there in the fray," Casey said later. "I thought he did some good things." "A typical young guy," he added. "He and Jonas both are error-prone and weve got to continue to work with them and get them better in those areas and cut those (mistakes) down." Asked if Ross will continue to get the start, Casey said: "Well see." He called the start "an opportunity, not given." Canadian Cory Joseph and former Raptor Matt Bonner got warm receptions when they checked into the game for the Spurs in the fourth quarter. Baynes, a six-foot-10 Australian in his second year in the NBA, finished with a timely career-high 14 for the Spurs, who were without injured centre Tiago Splitter (calf). MIAMI -- As soon as Chris Young connected on a deep fly ball to left field in the ninth inning, the New York Mets thought they had tied the game on a sacrifice fly. Robert Franks Jersey . But they misjudged the strength of Marcell Ozunas arm. Ozuna threw out Kirk Nieuwenhuis at the plate to end the game to help the Miami Marlins beat the Mets 3-2 on Friday night. "Its pretty surprising. Hats off to Ozuna," Nieuwenhuis said. "He made a great throw. Theres no other way to put it." Even Ozuna thought the Mets had tied the game. "I didnt think I had a chance to get him out, but I was going to throw it no matter what," Ozuna said. Ozuna also threw out David Wright to end the eighth after the Mets cut the deficit to 3-2. "I cant remember seeing a game decided by two great throws from a left fielder and two great tags from the catcher to end the game," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "Thats pretty amazing." Henderson Alvarez (4-3) pitched 6 1-3 scoreless innings, allowing seven hits without a walk, and struck out five. In his past six starts, he is 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA, which leads the majors since May 22. "It was a good start for myself. All my pitches were working. Now its about keeping going forward," Alvarez said. Steve Cishek allowed a double to Nieuwenhuis to open the ninth, but earned his 17th save in 18 chances when Ozunas throw landed in catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchias glove for his fourth assist of the season. "He started at the Clevelander, so I didnt think he had a shot, but he started running in," Saltalamacchia said. "Once he got closer I knew he had a chance, but thats a tough throw, big moment like that. You tend to do too much. He made a perfect throw." Mets starter Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-1) allowed one run and six hits in 5 1-3 innings. He struck out four. "I felt good today, and just going off our last time off of Alvarez, I knew it was going to be a close game -- a one or two-run game -- so I knew I couldnt give up too many runs," Matsuzaka said. "One run ended up making a difference." Adeiny Hechavarria drove in two runs, and Saltalamacchia hit two doubles for the Marlins, who won their major league-best 17th one-run game of the season despite going 1 for 11 with runners in scoring position. "It was nice to win that one," Redmond said. "We needed to win that one." Six of the eight games between these clubs this season have been decided by one run New York had a two-game winning streak snapped. With the Mets trailing 3-0 in the eighth, Wright hit an RBI single off Kevin Gregg. Two batters later, with Mike Dunn pitching, pinch-hitter Eric Campbell singled to left field to make it 3-2. Wright was thrown out at the plate as he tried to score on the hit. "I got thrown out by about 10 feet, so it wasnt a real close play," Wright said, "but at the same time we kind of thought that he was blocking (the plate) and apparently they thought he wasnt." Mets manager Terry Collins challenged the play, taking up the argument that Wright was blocked from getting to the plate. "When you saw replays, his foot had pretty much that whole side blocked," Collins said. "The over-the-top view, I dont know. You dont ever get an explanation. All they say is the play stands. "You dont ever get an explanation or why they ruled it, and the umpires are as confused as anybody." Rafael Furcal led off of the game for the Marlins with a triple off the right-field fence and scored on a groundout by Hechavarria. It was Furcals first extra-base hit of the season in 30 at-bats and first leadoff triple since June 11, 2010, against the Angels when he played for the Dodgers. "I knew that was the only run I could give up the rest of my outing," Matsuzaka said. After Jake Marisnick stole second base in the seventh, he swiped third with Wright not in position to cover the bag. He then scored when catcher Anthony Reckers throw to third went into left field. "It surprised them a little bit that he took off there with a left-hand hitter," Redmond said. "He was being aggressive and took advantage of a bad throw. That was a huge run for us." The Marlins extended their lead to 3-0 later in the inning when Wright attempted to bare-hand a grounder hit by Hechavarria, but the ball bounced past him, allowing Justin Bour to score. Wright was originally charged with an error, but it was later changed to a hit. BEREA, Ohio -- The Browns arent worried about Johnny Manziel running out of bounds off the field. Indiana Pacers Pro Shop . Or floating on pool rafts. After a weekend of partying in Texas, where he was photographed floating on an inflatable swan while drinking champagne in a nightclub pool, Manziel was on the field Tuesday as the Browns opened a mandatory three-day minicamp. The team is not making their popular Heisman Trophy-winning rookie quarterback -- or starter Brian Hoyer -- available to the media this week. Manziel has left Cleveland each of the past three weekends, first taking a trip to Las Vegas, then to Los Angeles for a seminar with other rookies and then to his home state, where in addition to having some fun, he got drafted by the San Diego Padres and attended Game 2 of the NBA finals in San Antonio, sitting near Miamis bench while wearing a retro Cavaliers cap. Following practice, Browns first-year coach Mike Pettine said hes not worried about how his young QB spends his free time. "Im not concerned," Pettine said. "I would become concerned if it was something criminal and I would be concerned if it affected his job. Theres a lot of our guys, if when they leave here if they were followed around, youd get some very similar pictures. I dont know about an inflatable swan, but youd still get some pictures." Manziel has said he intends to keep living his life to the fullest, and Pettine doesnt feel the need to monitor the 21-year-olds every move. "The philosophy here is that were not going to micro-manage the guys," Pettine said. "I was involved in an event this weekend, and if there were some cameras at certain times it probably wouldnt have been the most flattering. It was a group of coaches out and we had a good time, but we were responsible. When it becomes irresponsible or it becomes part of breaking the law or its something we feel is a potential problem, well step in." Manziel is currently listed as Clevelands backup behind Hoyer. The two will compete during training camp next month, when each pass will be dissected. The dueling QBS are already under scrutiny. During Tuesdays workout, Manziel took snaps with Clevelands first-team offence as Hoyer continues to be limited as a precaution while recovering from off-season knee surgery. When he was on the field, Hoyer showed his ability to read the defence and release the ball more quickly than Manziel, who is still learning the nuances of offensive co-ordinator Kyle Shanahans system and adjusting to the speedier pro game. Thats not to say Manziel didnt show progress. "Hes getting more comfortable in the huddle, calling the plays," Pettine said. "I think hes got a very nice touch with the deep ball. Weve added some of the zone-read stuff that Kyles run with RG3 in Washington and hes done a nice job handling that. He makes improvement every day." As for Manziels extra-curricular activities, his teammates seem to have his back. Safety Donte Whitner was asked if theres a need to tell Johnny Football to tone down his act. "Yeah, but I dont think hes out of hand with it," Whitner said. "If hes not out every weekend, hes just a young guy. So going to Vegas, I probably wouldve been there with Johnny too." Wide receiver Andrew Hawkins hasnt seen any reason to think Manziel isnt taking his job seriously. "I dont know what Johnny does on the weekends. But its none of my business," he said. "Hes out here working his butt off. Im not keeping tabs on where he goes Friday through Sunday. Johnny works hard, and thats all anybody cares about." Pettine understands theres a bright spotlight on Manziel, who seems to relish the hype. In being so public with his actions, Manziel could be placing himself in precarious situations, but Pettine is confident the former Texas A&M star can handle it. "I think its something hes used to," Pettine said. "I think that he understands that that (publicity) comes with the territory, but I also think hes a young man that he doesnt want his lifestyle or how he lives it to be affected by social media. That hes not going to (say) Hey, Im not leaving my house. "I dont think he wants to be that way and it just goes back to were not going to micromanage him until we feel that it is an issue, and if its not affecting him on the field, then I dont think that its anything we need to address at this point." NOTES: Pro Bowl WR Josh Gordon continues to practice as the team awaits word on a possible league suspension. ... LT Joe Thomas was full-go after being limited in recent OTAs. ... DeMarco Murray made the catch, his momentum taking him into the end zone for the winning score. For much of the second half, Romo and Dallas Cowboys had flirted with their usual December swoon. A recently signed fullback lost a fumble. The quarterback threw a bad interception. An eight-point lead became a nine-point deficit. Murray lost 9 yards on a third-and-goal at the 1. But there was one chance left to pull off a win. Romo-to-Murray converted the fourth-and-goal at the 10 with 1:08 remaining Sunday, giving the Cowboys a 24-23 victory over the Washington Redskins. "We just had to make a play," Dallas receiver Dez Bryant said. "Tony did a Houdini." Its a magic moment that matters only if the Cowboys can win one more. The victory ended a two-game skid — as well as a four-game December losing streak — and sets up a winner-take-all, regular-season finale for the NFC East title next week, when the Cowboys (8-7) host the Philadelphia Eagles. "Today we felt like we were playing for everything," Romo said. "Next week will be the same thing." The Cowboys, who beat Philadelphia 17-3 on Oct. 20, set themselves up to quash two years of 8-8, collapse-around-Christmas misery. "I know in some ways weve gotten hit with just the fact of losing the last couple of years in the final game," Romo said. "I think were the only team that keeps getting themselves in position to win the NFC East every year — thats a credit. Its also a negative in the fact that we didnt do it the last couple of years." The Cowboys melted down big-time last week against the Green Bay Packers, blowing a 23-point lead with Romo throwing two interceptions in the waning minutes. On Sunday, the Cowboys fell flat in the third quarter instead of the fourth, leaving just enough time for a comeback. "Coming back and playing well and working hard can help your character. Now, I dont recommend the way we came back today as a way to get there," Dallas owner Jerry Jones said with a smile. "I wouldve liked for it to be a little easier and confident." The Redskins (3-12) arent building much of anything. They lost their seventh straight, thee second in a row by one point, both with Kirk Cousins starting in place of shut-down franchise player Robert Griffin III. Jonathan Bender Jersey. Pierre Garcon (11 catches, 144 yards) provided the home team highlight by breaking Art Monks single-season franchise reception record, while veteran linebacker London Fletcher played in what is expected to be his final home game before retiring. Embattled coach Mike Shanahan clinched his worst record in his 20 seasons as a head coach. "Everybody on the team is fed up at this point," Washington linebacker Perry Riley said. "We should be winning. Need to be winning. Were not winning. And thats frustrating." Romo completed 17 of 27 passes for 226 yards with two touchdowns and played much of the game with back pain. He was limping noticeably after a couple of plays in the fourth quarter. "I took a hit that kind of triggered it a little bit. ... I felt it after that play, the rest of the game," Romo said. "You just play through it, just like anything in football." The Cowboys led 14-6 at halftime before committing turnovers on back-to-back drives — a fumble by Tyler Clutts and an interception by DeAngelo Hall. The Redskins scored on three straight possessions and took a 23-14 lead on the first play of the fourth quarter. But Romo converted a fourth-and-6 at the Washington 40-yard line to set up a field goal that cut the lead to six with 6:09 to play. The Cowboys started the go-ahead drive at their 13 with 3:39 remaining. A 51-yard pass to Terrance Williams set up the winning score, with the Cowboys surviving the 9-yard loss by Murray when knocking on the door at the 1. "A couple of self-inflicted wounds in the second half hurt us," Dallas coach Jason Garrett said. "But you keep playing. Our guys scratched, clawed, and fought." Notes: Michael Spurlock, signed Wednesday because of an injury to Dwayne Harris, set up a TD with a 62-yard punt return in the first quarter. ... Murray ran for 96 yards, becoming the first Cowboys back to rush for 1,000 yards since Julius Jones in 2006. ... The Cowboys are 5-0 in the NFC East; the Redskins are 0-5. ... Canadas Kevin Koe is trying his best to avoid distractions and focus on curling as he prepares for the upcoming mens world curling championship. China Jerseys For Cheap . There have been a few challenges for Koe in the leadup to the competition, which opens Saturday at Beijings Capital Indoor Stadium. Chief among them is news that there are changes coming to his rink next season. Koes current lineup features second Carter Rycroft, third Pat Simmons and lead Nolan Thiessen. Rycroft, whose wife is pregnant, has already said hell be taking a year off after this season. Kevin Martin confirmed to The Canadian Press that Marc Kennedy and Ben Hebert will be leaving his rink to join Koes team next season. Koe preferred to keep his focus on the world championship and declined to comment on the coming changes. The future plans of Simmons and Thiessen were unclear. It was the first major shakeup in whats expected to be a summer of significant change on the mens curling scene now that the four-year Olympic cycle is complete. The timing is less than ideal for Koe and his teammates. Gerry Peckham, the Canadian Curling Associations high-performance director, expects Koe to be able to lock in on the immediate task before him. "Our analysis of his performance skills and performance attributes would suggest that hes an incredibly focused individual and is seldom distracted by anything external to the game at hand," Peckham said. "I think those teammates have looked in each other in the eye again, squared their shoulders, are shaking each others hands and are now moving on to complete this journey of a world championship." Koe won gold in his only previous appearance at the world championship, taking top spot at the 2010 playdowns in Cortina DAmpezzo, Italy. At this years event, Canada will be a favourite along with Scotland, Sweden, Norway and China. The 12-team field is rounded out by the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Russia, Switzerland and the United States. "Canada used to be known obviously as a big favourite going in all the time but you quickly realize how the gap is changing," Koe said. "Our experience in 2010 was awesome in Italy and it was a great feeling to win. But this is just as important for us. "To get to be two-time world champs would be pretty neat and kind of validate our first win." Koe arrived early in the week so that hed have time to adjust to the 14-hour time change. He was greeted by plenty of smog, heat and humidity. Hes also still getting used to the various culinary options in the Chinese capital. "Its a bit of a culture shock for us," Koe said in a recent interview. "Big difference from what were used to. Obviously a huge city but it will be a great experience." Koe had a strong performance at the Tim Hortons Brier and is enjoying another solid year on the World Curling Tour. Hes third on the money list and fourth in the order of merit standings behind only Olympic champ Brad Jacobs, Howard and Jeff Stoughton. The only change from the 2010 lineup is that Simmons has replaced Blake MacDonald on the Calgary-based rink. "We dont get too excited or too worked up as a team," Koe said. "Were pretty calm. Obviously the experience of being to one (world championship) will help for sure, especially when youre coming to a foreign country where everything is different. "At least we can rely on the experience once we actually get on the ice of knowing weve been to the worlds and we did well last time." Its the first World Curling Federation world championship event to be staged in China. The venue was used for volleyball competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics. The Chinese team skipped by Rui Liu is coming off a fourth-place result at the Sochi Games. Scotlands Ewan MacDonald has three world titles to his name although this is his first appearance as skip. Thomas Ulsrud, who won Olympic silver at the 2010 Games in Vancouver, will skip the Norwegian team. "We know most of these teams and theyre all pretty good," Koe said. "Not too many easy games out there." Swedens Niklas Edin is not back to defend the title he won last year in Victoria. Instead, Oskar Eriksson will skip the Swedish entry. Round-robin play will continue through Thursday evening and tiebreakers will be used if needed to determine the top four teams. The Page playoff system will be used ahead of the medal games on April 6. Koe said the ice conditions in the venue will be a huge factor. "They do have some great icemakers but its really warm here," he said. "Its supposedly pushing 30 (degrees Celsius) here and they had an event in the facility early in the year and there was a lot of problems. But I think theyve brought in some dehumidifiers and air conditioning to cool the arena down. "Thats the big worry here. If the ice is good, I for sure like our chances. Bad ice would be a bit of an equalizer I think. But when you have some of the best icemakers in the world, Im sure theyll get it figured out." Canada has won gold three of the last four years at this event. Stoughton was victorious in 2011 at Regina and Howard won at Basel, Switzerland in 2012. The Canadians are scheduled to open against Denmarks Rasmus Stjerne on Saturday. "You have four very solid, confident, resolved individuals (who are) mentally tough," said Peckham. "I think they realize the significance and the importance of this world championship to themselves individually and as a collective, and then of course representing this curling nation of Canada. "So I think theyve gone out the door with their game face on." The world championship will return to Canada next year as Halifax plays host. China Jerseys Knockoff . Christian Benteke scored twice as Villa came from behind to beat Arsenal, which was booed off by home fans already aggrieved at manager Arsene Wengers failure to strengthen the squad in the summer transfer window. Liverpool striker Luis Suarez -- Arsenals main target in the off-season -- was in the stands because of suspension as his team defeated Stoke 1-0 thanks to Daniel Sturridges 37th-minute goal, although it needed debutant Simon Mignolets late penalty save to preserve the lead. West Ham, Southampton and Fulham also started with wins, while Norwich drew 2-2 with Everton after Ricky van Wolfswinkels equalizer on his competitive debut. Manchester United begins the defence of its title at Swansea later Saturday, with unsettled striker Wayne Rooney starting on the bench. Its a case of new season, same old story for Arsenal, whose defensive shortcomings were capped by centre back Laurent Koscielnys second-half sending-off for two yellow cards. Wengers team is unlikely to be challenging for the title this season unless the club, which is awash with cash, can recruit some marquee names to add to a squad that the French manager acknowledged on Friday was threadbare. Wenger was hit with chants including "You dont know what youre doing" and "Spend some (expletive) money" minutes before the final whistle. Olivier Giroud gave Arsenal the lead in the sixth minute but Benteke, who withdrew a transfer request over the summer, equalized in the 22nd when he headed home a rebound after his penalty was saved by goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. China Jerseys Fake. The Belgium striker then converted a 66th-minute penalty following Koscielnys clumsy foul on Gabriel Agbonlahor, earning the defender a first yellow card, and debutant Antonio Luna sealed the points in the 85th for Villa by racing clear on the break to score in the bottom corner. It was a much more positive start to the campaign by Liverpool, who dominated against Stoke but only had Sturridges 25-yard strike to show for its efforts. That profligacy almost cost them when Daniel Agger handballed in the area in the 88th minute but Mignolet ended a nervy debut by clawing away Jon Walters spot kick and then denying Kenwyne Jones effort on the rebound. Suarez, who was serving the fifth match of a 10-game ban for biting an opponent last season, was cheered by some fans as he walked the perimeter of the Anfield pitch with his daughter before kickoff despite an off-season dominated by transfer speculation surrounding the striker. The scorer of Englands winner over Scotland on Wednesday on his international debut, Rickie Lambert completed the perfect week by converting a last-minute penalty for Southampton in a 1-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion. Goals either side of the break by Joe Cole and Kevin Nolan were enough for West Ham in a 2-0 home win over promoted Cardiff and Pajtim Kasami grabbed a 52nd-minute winner for Fulham in a 1-0 victory at Paolo Di Canios Sunderland. Norwich went ahead at Carrow Road through Steven Whittaker before goals by Ross Barkley and Seamus Coleman in a five-minute span gave Everton the lead by the 65th minute. Van Wolfswinkel levelled in the 71st. ' ' '

Almost 40 years to the day since playing their first ever match against San Jose Earthquakes, the Vancouver Whitecaps will face the Quakes once again on Saturday, as the club celebrates its 40th anniversary. Onitsuka Tiger Outlet Australia . But amidst the celebrations, its important the Whitecaps return to winning ways in Major League Soccer against an Earthquakes team that is below them in the Western Conference standings. The Form: Its now four matches without a victory for the Whitecaps who are yet to win against a Western Conference opponent this season, but they have tied their last two games against two of the top teams in Major League Soccer. In Utah last Saturday, the Whitecaps started terribly, going two goals down inside the first nine minutes against Real Salt Lake, but the second half was much improved, and a late comeback ensured the Whitecaps left Rio Tinto Stadium with a point. The Big Question: Will either of the Uruguayans be given the chance to start? Nicolas Mezquida and Sebastian Fernandez made an impact coming off the bench at Real Salt Lake a week ago, both scoring a goal, including a fantastic strike from Fernandez in the final minute of stoppage time to tie the match. Prior to the game, Carl Robinson said last week that the Uruguayan duo had been performing very well in training and wear very close to getting a start in the team. Mezquida has appeared in four matches this season, all as a substitute, while Fernandez started the season but then was left on the bench after a couple of less effective performances. With a Canadian Championship semifinal against Toronto FC coming up on Wednesday, its likely Mezquida and Fernandez will start at least one of the two games. "Everyone will get their chance," said Robinson after training on Thursday. "As a player, all you want is the chance to play and show what you can do, and most of the players will get that chance." The Lineup: Chilean midfielder Pedro Morales missed the trip to Real Salt. Lake to try and heal a back problem that has plagued him in the opening weeks of the season, but if he has fully recovered, he is likely to return to the Whitecaps lineup. Once again, there is a big decision for Carl Robinson in the centre of defence. Last week, Jay DeMerit stayed at home as Honduran international Johnny Leveron partnered Andy OBrien at the back. Robinson must decide whether to stick with that pairing and bring some consistency to the back line, or bring DeMerit back into the eleven. Nigel Reo-Coker played the first three matches of the season but hasnt played since due to injury, coachs decision and most recently illness. Its doubtful that Reo-Coker will be considered for the starting lineup but he could return on the bench. The Opposition: San Jose Earthquakes started the season with a five match winless run, but that came to an end last weekend when they won 1-0 at home to Chivas USA. The Quakes are yet to win away from home this season, losing 1-0 at Kansas City and tying 0-0 at Colorado. Yannick Djalo scored the only goal of the game against Chivas. The 27-year-old from Portugal is still adapting in his first few weeks in Major League Soccer as he gets fully fit, but he is a quality addition for the Quakes this season, joining on loan from Benfica. 2012 MLS MVP Chris Wondolowski has scored three goals in six matches so far this season as he looks to win a place in Jurgen Klinsmanns United States squad for this summers World Cup in Brazil. The 31-year-old has an excellent goal scoring record against the Whitecaps. On a day where there will be plenty of focus on the soccer history of Vancouver, it is fitting that there is a heavy Vancouver presence amongst the Earthquakes coaching staff. Head Coach Mark Watson played for Whitecaps in 1994 and 2005 while assistant coach Nick Dasovic previously played for the 86ers and was a player coach with Caps from 2002 to 2005. Both men are from Vancouver. The Odds: The Earthquakes are yet to win in Vancouver against the Whitecaps in Major League Soccer and the Caps must be favourites heading in. Carl Robinsons team are four points ahead of the Quakes in the standings but have played two games more. The Whitecaps continue to develop under Robinson, but they must start to put together 90 minute performances if they are to get back to winning ways. Evans had 22 points and a career-high 15 assists, and the short-handed Pelicans overcame the loss of Anthony Davis to extend their winning streak to a season-high five games, 102-95 victory over Utah on Friday night. The performance came with Evans starting at point guard, a role Evans occupied in stints with Sacramento earlier in his career, but not with New Orleans until this week, beginning with an upset victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. "I always seem to make it work. Im a basketball player," Evans said. "So, just trying to make the best of it, you know, for me and my teammates and the coaching staff and the organization. Just trying to finish the season out strong and win as many games as possible." Davis left with a left ankle injury less than four minutes in, further depleting New Orleans already injury-riddled roster. But the 6-foot-6 Evans simply looked for other teammates when the Jazzs defence collapsed on him, and the offence flowed. "Hes so big, he can see over the other guards and that gives him the ability to find guys," Pelicans coach Monty Williams said. "Hes always a threat to score at the basket, so that helps." Anthony Morrow scored 20 points, Al-Farouq Aminu added 13, and Austin Rivers and Darius Miller each had 12. Alexis Ajinca, playing 28 minutes in Davis absence, had 10 rebounds, nine points and three blocks. Derrick Favours had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Jazz, who lost their third straight. Gordon Hayward added 21 points. "We just have to continue to fight and close those games out," said Trey Burke, who had 12 points. "We definitely had a chance to win this game tonight. "We arent going to get discouraged," Burke continued. "Were all good players and we know we are capable. No matter what, were sticking together." Before the game, the Jazz ruled out reserve guard Alec Burks with a left ankle sprain. The Pelicans, meanwhile, scratched guards Eric Gordon (left knee tendinitis) and Brian Roberts (left knee bone bruise). Davis started grimacing during the opening minutes. With 8:17 left in the first quarter, Ajinca was subbed into the game and Davis headed for the locker room. Williams did not update Davis condition after the game. Still, the Pelicans managed to maintain the lead for most of the way. Evans pushed the ball in transition and routinely slashed to the hoop to convert short floaters or layups in traffic. Otherwise, he found players such as Morrow and Miller on the perimeter. "Hes been doing a great job in that role change, but thats what great players do," Morrow said of Evans. "Im proud of him, glad hes stepped it up. Obviously he does a lot of things for us on both ends of the floor, and obviously hes adjusted his game and hes been great for us." Evans layup put the Pelicans up 72-66 heading into the fourth quarter, and his weaving dribble drive for a reverse scoop made it 87-81 with 1:52 left. Morrow hit three of his four 3-point attempts, the last giving the Pelicans an 85-79 lead with 3:05 left. Ajincas three-point play on an 8-foot jumper as he was fouled by Favours made it 90-83 with less than a minute left, but the teams traded a slew of free throws before it was over. Marvin Williams finished with 12 points for Utah, but the Jazz committed 19 turnovers, leading to 33 Pelicans points. Evans normally plays shooting guard or small forward, but once again looked comfortable at the point while scoring 13 first-half points. The Pelicans 39-31 when Morrows consecutive jumpers capped an 8-0 run, and New Orleans lead was 43-38 at halftime. NOTES: The Pelicans and Jazz split their previous two meetings. They meet once more on April 4 in Utah. ... The Jazz are 8-29 on the road. ... Utah next plays on Sunday in Oklahoma City. ... Evans has hit 20 points 15 times this season and has nine double-doubles. ... The Pelicans shot 50.7 per cent (36 of 71), marking the third time during their current winning streak they eclipsed the 50 per cent mark. Phil Jackson Jersey . His apology came before a pregame ceremony in which the team honoured its 2004 team that won Bostons first World Series championship since 1918. "I realize that I behaved bad in Boston," Ramirez said. Anthony Mason Jersey . The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no announcement was made. Off-Season Game Plan looks at what the Blue Jackets may do to build upon last seasons success to return to the playoffs again next year.PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Calling the New York Mets a "marquee franchise," new players union head Tony Clark is paying attention to the teams payroll. Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said he expects the teams payroll to be between $85 million and $88 million this season, which would be a slight decrease from its $90.9 million final figure last year. Despite the additions of free agents Curtis Granderson, Bartolo Colon and Chris Young, the Mets have a payroll resembling that of a mid-market franchise. The Los Angeles Dodgers payroll is over $225 million and the New York Yankees will top $200 million. "Any time there are concerns or issues with any club related to certain habits or trends, we pay attention to it," Clark said after speaking with Mets players Tuesday during his tour of the 30 spring training camps. "New York is no different than any other club, from the standpoint of appreciating whats paid in payroll and how clubs may be functioning in general, related to improving the group they have on the field." Clark declined to say specifically whether the union has spoken with the Mets owners or front office about payroll. "Rest assured that any conversations were having with management likely wont end up in the newspaper," he said. "We will always stay engaged, from top to bottom with any club, at leastt related to any concerns we may have and how those concerns manifest themselves. J. R. Smith Jersey. " Clark also said he was concerned free agent shortstop Stephen Drew has not signed. Drew, pitcher Ervin Santana and designated hitter Kendrys Morales declined to accept $14.1 million qualifying offers, and teams signing them would lose a selection in Junes amateur draft. But if a team signs one of those players after the draft, it would not forfeit a pick. "Any time you have players on the free-agent market who are still sitting at home come March 4 that I think everyone would agree can have a positive impact on any club that they would happen to play on, it is a concern," Clark said. "Its a topic that we pay a lot of attention to because we dont think its in anyones best interests to have some of the top players in the game sitting at home and not playing on the field." NOTES: RHP Matt Harvey is paid $546,625 while on the major league roster this year under the one-year deal announced Monday and at an annual rate of $299,250 if on option to the minors. Harvey, recovering from elbow ligament-replacement surgery on Oct. 22, gets paid at the big league rate while on the disabled list or during a minor league injury rehabilitation assignment. ... RHP Zack Wheeler has a $512,375 salary in the majors and $169,349 in the minors. ' ' '

TORONTO – The Blue Jays entered their three-game series with the American League Central-leading Tigers losers of five of six, a slide thats dropped the club five games behind the Orioles for the division lead and a half-game behind the Royals in a cluttered race for the second wild card spot. Charlotte Hornets Shirts . The team is battered, without Brett Lawrie (oblique) for most of the rest of the regular season while eagerly awaiting the returns of Adam Lind (foot) and Edwin Encarnacion (quadriceps). The Blue Jays dodged a bullet with Melky Cabrera, who played on Friday night despite being hit by a pitch on the right elbow in the first inning the night before. Then theres the opponents starting pitching, a veritable murderers row of three consecutive Cy Young award winners. They are, in order: the Tigers Max Scherzer (Detroit – 2013) and David Price (Tampa Bay – 2012), along with the Mariners Felix Hernandez (Seattle – 2011). Thanks a lot. "Were just going to take it one game at a time," said shortstop Jose Reyes. "We know the next couple of games are going to be tough because were going to face some good pitching but we have our plan, we have our approach. Were just going to go to home plate with the same mentality, looking for a good pitch and try to put the best swing on the ball and try to go from there because we know its not going to be easy." Missing one-third of their starting lineup, three of the most important bats and Lawries plus defence, Toronto is treading water in an increasing cluttered wild card race. The Jays entered Fridays action in a three-way tie with the Yankees and Mariners, nipping at the Royals heels. Its reached the point when the club can ill afford another protracted slide. As time passes by, it becomes less about the number of games by which you trail the wild card leader and more about how many teams there are between. A two or a three-game deficit can seem like a mountain when a club has to leapfrog multiple others. Reyes has a better solution. "We want to win the division," said Reyes. "Getting the second wild card is nothing. We want to win our division. Thats the main goal for us. We know were missing some key pieces in our lineup but we have to deal with what we have here. If everyone continues to contribute were going to be fine." CABRERA OKAY Jose Reyes arrived at Rogers Centre on Friday afternoon and when he checked the lineup, he saw Melky Cabreras name underneath his own. He breathed a sigh of relief. "Theres no doubt we need Melky in the lineup if we want to continue to win," said Reyes. "Melkys been one of, if not the most consistent player in our lineup so we need him back." Cabrera went 1-for-5 with a single and an RBI on Friday night. He tried wearing a bulky elbow protector during batting practice – think Barry Bonds – but opted for a less obstructive wrap. LIND UPDATE Adam Lind wasnt in the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays lineup on Friday afternoon. He went 2-for-2 in his first minor league rehabilitation game on Thursday but felt tightness in his back. Lind has a history of back issues. General manager Alex Anthopoulos said the expectation still is for Lind to return to the lineup sometime next week. D. J. Augustin Jersey . Kadri was dressed in a green jersey at Thursdays practice and skated as an extra forward on the teams fourth line as the Leafs. Charlotte Hornets Gear . Hattestad managed to avoid the carnage midway through the mens final, as a crash took out three skiers, essentially leaving two men vying for gold. The Norwegian posted a time of 3:38.39, outlasting Swedens Teodor Peterson, who took silver with a time of 3:39. https://www.cheaphornets.com/135l-alonzo-mourning-jersey-hornets.html . Forward Iker Muniain scored the winner in the 70th minute after Bilbaos incessant pressure recovered the ball and sparked a counterattack inside Barcelonas half. Neymar was once again tagged to pick up Messis goal-scoring duties, but when he wasnt frustrated by slippery footing Bilbaos defence got the better of him.WASHINGTON - For the second time in three seasons, the Washington Nationals will head to the post-season with the top seeding in the National League. They hope they can take advantage of that status this year. The NL East champion Nationals locked up home-field advantage until the World Series by beating the Miami Marlins 4-0 on Doug Fisters three-hitter in the opener of a day-night doubleheader Friday.Miami earned a split by winning the insignificant second game 15-7 with 22 hits, including Kike Hernandezs grand slam and J.T. Realmutos three-run triple. The Marlins hadnt scored at least that many runs since a 16-10 victory over the Nationals on Sept. 1, 2010, according to STATS.Washingtons record was 94-66 at the end of a long day; the last pitch was thrown 9 hours, 35 minutes after the first. Its important to have home-field advantage. If we want to get to where we want to get to, then thats important. So thats accomplished, rookie manager Matt Williams said.Only two regular members of Washingtons lineup, right fielder Jayson Werth and catcher Wilson Ramos, started Fridays second game; both sat out the opener. Werth tripled in the first inning, doubled in the second and singled in the fifth, and the right fielder also threw out Donovan Solano trying to stretch a single into a double. A homer shy of the cycle, Werth was hit by a pitch in the sixth and struck out in the ninth. Was he thinking about needing that homer in his final at-bat?I surely was. ... From T-ball on, I dont think Ive ever hit for the cycle, Werth said. I knew it was available. Especially in a blowout game, definitely wasnt trying to work a walk or anything like that.Taylor Hill (0-1) took the loss in his first major league start, allowing seven runs and 10 hits in 4 2-3 innings, but he also singled for what he said was not only his first hit in the majors but also his first hit ever in professional baseball.Believe it or not, Hill said, I had no hits prior in the minor leagues.A.J. Ramos (7-0) earned the win with a 1-2-3 eighth inning.Earlier, Solano was the only player who got a hit off Fister (16-6) a€” a pair of harmless singles in the first and fourth innings, and a triple with two outs in the ninth. Nicolas Batum Jersey. . The next batter, Casey McGehee, lined out to diving second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera to end that game.Fister threw 104 pitches, 77 for strikes, and heard a loud ovation when he jogged from the dugout to the mound for the ninth.Obviously some adrenaline, some emotions run through there, the lanky righty said. Its one of those things where you kind of take a second and you soak it in and then you get back to work.Washingtons Anthony Rendon hit a solo shot to left off wild-as-can-be Jarred Cosart (4-4 with the Marlins; 13-11 overall in 2014, including his time with the Astros) in the first for his 21st homer. Cosart walked eight.Fister had zero walks and nine strikeouts in the second shutout of his career. What really mattered, though, was sewing up the home-field edge. That was a big milestone for us, Fister said. Its always nice to be home. Youve got your home fans, weve got our own lockers, our own chairs, whatever it may be. Guys are comfortable here. And that means a lot. Then again, Washington knows full well being the highest-seeded club guarantees nothing. The Nationals led the majors with 98 wins in 2012, but were eliminated in the NL division series by wild-card St. Louis. This year they clinched their division title Sept. 16 and have gone 7-3 since then in the push for the NLs top record. They have everything they need over there to win a World Series, Cosart said.At 77-83, the Marlins could finish anywhere from second to fourth in the NL East, but they know they wont finish last.TRAINERS ROOMNationals: CF Denard Span returned to action for the first time since leaving Tuesdays game after a diving, tumbling catch that left his right knee scraped and sore. Span started Fridays first game, going 1 for 4 with a walk. Afterward, he said he felt rusty but fine. ... Zimmerman started the opener, playing left field for the second day in a row. He struck out as a pinch hitter in the second game.UP NEXTWilliams said the Nationals will stick to their planned starting pitchers this weekend, including RHP Stephen Strasburg (13-11, 3.23 ERA) for a final pre-playoffs tuneup Saturday against Marlins RHP Nathan Eovaldo (6-13, 4.44). TORONTO - Ottawas first season back in the CFL ended with a 16th loss Friday night, leaving Redblacks coach Rick Campbell gritting his teeth but still seeing positives. Vapormax Plus Black Cheap .Its tough, he said after a 23-5 defeat at the hands of the Toronto Argonauts. I dont like losing.I think theres the potential for a good football team sitting in that (locker) room. Were not a good football team yet, he added. Our effort and our attitudes not an issue. We just need to become a better football team that can make more plays to win football games.Despite their 2-16 record — Ottawa defeated Toronto 18-17 on July 17 and Winnipeg 42-20 on Oct. 3, both at home — the Redblacks often pushed back. They led at some point in 12 of the 18 games and 10 contests were not decided until the final three minutes.Campbell reckons the Redblacks could have won six or seven games had they been able to close the deal. But despite the record, he sees progress given there were just six players and no coaches when he got hired. So it was going to be a battle. But its been a fun battle. I wouldnt trade it for anything in the world, Campbell said. Im going to be a better coach after this season, just going through this whole experience. I truly feel fortunate to be part of this whole situation because theres going to be bright days ahead and theres a lot of reasons to like the Redblacks. On Friday, there were plenty of holes, however. The Ottawa tackling was abysmal and Argonaut receivers were allowed to operate in acres of space. The Redblacks offence was spotty.Ottawa managed just three first downs (to Torontos 16) and 53 yards net offence in the first half before finding a higher gear in the second half. Ten of Torontos 20 first-half points followed interceptions of Redblacks passes, with Henry Burris and backup Danny OBrien splitting quarterback duties.Ultimately the fourth quarter proved to be the Redblacks Achilles heel this season. They were outscored in the final quarter in 12 of the 18 games (Fridays fourth quarter was a 3-3 tie although Ottawa won the second half 5-3).Overall Ottawa was outscored 146-51 in the final quarter. The Redblacks did not score more than seven points in any fourth quarter this year while allowing 10 points or more eight times in the final 15 minutes. The third quarter wasnt much better. Ottawa managed just 53 points all seasons. The lack of late scoring explains why Ottawa was 0-11 when trailing at the half and 0-13 when trailing after three quarters.Ottawa didnt help itself, ranking worst in the league in giveaways and third worst in takeaways going into the season finale.Weve got to understand that a lot of the things that we did were all self-inflicted, said Burris, citing the need to be more consistent on offence. Campbell said the off-season challenge is to review the teams playbook, ensure the current players come back better versions of themselves and add more talent.I think we have a core group here ... we need to add to this young football team and have a few more guys that can make plays.Receiver Kahlil Paden showed his playmaking skills in the fourth quarter, hauling in an OBrien pass for a season-high 77 yards. While the Redblacks went 0-9 on the road, they were a hit at home with all nine crowds in excess of 24,000.I think we have a fantastic situation in Ottawa, with the fans, the facilities, the owners, said Campbell. Were a united front. We all believe in this thing. The losing is tough now but well continue to work at this thing and well become a better football team.Said Burris: The fans have been amazing. The patience that theyve shown, the support that theyve shown is unlike any other. Im just thankful to be a part of it. Its an honour. The Redblacks join the 1988 Ottawa Rough Riders and the 1997 Hamilton Tiger-Cats as teams that ended the season with 16 losses. It is what it is as far as this season (goes), said the 39-year-old Burris. We didnt end it on the note that we wanted to but now we have the blueprint for what its going to take as far as how to get it done. Were going to make this thing work, he added.___Follow @NeilMDavidson on Twitter Black Tns Sale . Top-ranked Rafael Nadal was also taken to three sets but emerged with a 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-3 win over Tobias Kamke of Germany, while second-seeded David Ferrer joined Murray in making an early exit after a 6-4, 7-5 loss to Daniel Brands of Germany. Air Max Plus Discount . Espanyol midfielder Sanchez intercepted Bilbao goalkeeper Gorka Iraizozs clearance and, having spotted a gap, risked using his less-favoured left foot to fire a beautifully precise long-range shot that bounced in from high up the near post in the 24th minute. http://www.airmaxplusstoresale.com/ . Tottenham claimed top spot in Group K by winning 2-0 at Tromso after defender Adnan Causevic scored an own goal before Mousa Dembele put the result beyond doubt. Valencia made sure it will finish first in Group A with a 1-0 win at Swansea thanks to an early goal from Dani Parejo.MINSK, Belarus - For the second time at the world hockey championship, Team Canada benefited from a five-minute major penalty. Only this time it could prove much more costly. Alex Burrows was knocked out of the game by a knee-on-knee hit and did not return for the rest of Canadas 6-1 win over Italy on Friday at Chizhovka Arena. Cody Hodgson scored on the ensuing power play from the five-minute major penalty on Italian forward Joachim Ramoser. But with goals from Joel Ward, Jason Chimera, Kyle Turris, another from Hodgson and a final one from Brayden Schenn, Canada probably didnt need that boost. Against the Czech Republic on Monday, Canada scored twice on a five-minute major after captain Kevin Bieksa took a stick to the face, chipping a tooth and requiring stitches in his mouth. Bieksa didnt miss a shift. His Vancouver Canucks teammate Burrows was not so lucky. After writhing in pain after the hit, he needed to be helped off the ice by teammates Brayden Schenn and Nathan MacKinnon and did not put any pressure on his right leg. Without Burrows and defenceman Jason Garrison, who did not dress because of an illness, Canada was down to 18 skaters to Italys 20. That wasnt a factor as the Canadians won for the fifth time in six games to set up a likely Group A title game against Sweden on Sunday. In stopping 21 of the 22 shots he faced, James Reimer might have won the right to start that game, though Ben Scrivens won each of his two starts. Through the first five games in Minsk, neither goalie has been tested by a strong opponent. That included Friday, when Canada rolled over Italy. Afteer Italy had Canada on its heels in the early going, Ward continued his strong tournament by scoring the games first goal at 13:07. Air Max Plus Wholesale. . Ward forced a neutral-zone turnover, had Mark Scheifele going to the net on the rush and snapped a shot short-side on Daniel Bellissimo, a Toronto native. Ramoser made what looked like unintentional knee-on-knee contact with Burrows with 56 seconds left in the first period. A minute and 39 seconds into the second, Hodgson scored on a rebound to make it 2-0. Canadas third goal came at even strength but with a delayed penalty on Italy as Ward drew a call before Scheifele set up Chimera on a two-on-one rush at 6:02. Not long after at the 9:19 mark, Matt Read got things going and delivered a sharp pass to Turris for his second short-handed goal in as many games. Hodgson added his second of the day and sixth of the tournament 16:15 into the second with a rebound goal from in tight on Bellissimo that made it 5-0. Bellissimo did not return at the start of the third after giving up five goals on 22 shots, replaced by backup Andreas Bernard. Italy then broke up Reimers shutout 1:12 into the third period on a deflection goal by David Borrelli, who is from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. At 16:30, Schenn scored to put the finishing touch on the rout. Notes: Bellissimo and Borrelli are two of 10 Canadian-born players on Italys roster. The others are Daniel Sullivan, Brian Ihnacak and Davide Nicoletti from Toronto, Giulio Scandella from Montreal, Nate DiCasmirro from Aitkokan, Ont., Dan Tudin from Orleans, Ont., Trevor Johnson from Trail, B.C., and Vince Rocco from Woodbridge, Ont. The inconsistent wide receiver, whose flashes of excellence were often overshadowed by crucial drops and off-the-field drama, was released on Friday. The 24-year-old Little became expendable after Cleveland added veteran wide receivers Miles Austin and Earl Bennett to its roster on Thursday. Those moves were made for insurance in case Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon is suspended by the league for failing another drug test for marijuana. Gordon was suspended for the first two games last season, but led the league with 1,646 yards receiving. Last week, Browns general manager Ray Farmer said he believed Little could improve. "The young mans talented," Farmer said during the NFL draft. "The question mark would then fall onto can he be consistent and do the things that he has physically demonstrated he can do at times. If he continues to do those things and add a level of consistency, the difference between being good and great is consistency. "When a guy shows you he can do anything, he shows you he can jump up and make the one-handed catch, he shows you he can break a tackle, the question then is can he repeatedly do that over and over again. Thats the difference between being average or marginal and good or great." Littles departure ends a sometimes turbulent three-year run for him in Cleveland. The Browns drafted Little, a former running back at North Carolina, in the second round in 2011. And while he produced — he led the team in receptions in 2011 and 2012 — the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Little let too many passes slip from his hands and he had his share of other non-football issues. Eric Gordon Jersey. Last season, Little vowed to act more responsibly after it was revealed that he crashed his car driving 127 mph — more than 70 mph over the legal speed limit. He called his actions "mindless." Little was cited for drag racing and he expressed remorse for putting his life, and the life of a passenger in his expensive car, in danger. Little was reprimanded by then-coach Rob Chudzinski, who did not reveal his punishment. Little joined the Browns with a history of questionable decision-making. He was issued 93 parking tickets on multiple vehicles with nine different license plates while he was at North Carolina. In November, the school sent a letter of "permanent disassociation" to Little and other former Tar Heels football players for his role in the program receiving NCAA violations that led to criminal charges against five people for violating the states sports agent law. Little and others were suspended in 2010 for accepting improper benefits, including cash and travel accommodations. Little acknowledged his actions distressed others. "Theres a lot of people that Ive hurt," he said, "and I think a lot of the blame should be put on me much less than attacking other people." Little was typically candid when speaking to the media and he seemed to be maturing as a person and player. In 41 starts over three seasons with the Browns, Little caught 155 passes for 1,821 yards and eight touchdowns. He had 41 catches for 465 yards and two TDs last season. ___ AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL ' ' '

"Today all four lines played excellent," said head coach Laura Schuler.TORONTO — Canadas world junior team has lost forward Robby Fabbri for the remainder of the tournament due to a high ankle sprain. The St. Louis Blues prospect suffered the injury after throwing a routine body check at Denmarks Anders Krogsgaard on Friday early in the first period of Canadas 8-0 quarter-final win.Im disappointed obviously for Robby cause it is a huge loss for our team, said coach Benoit Groulx. The 19-year-old Fabbri could not put any weight on his right skate as he was helped off the ice. He did not return to the game. Fabbri had two goals and four assists to go along with a plus-7 rating in Canadas first four games.Groulx responded to Fabbris injury by promoting Brayden Point to a line with team captain Curtis Lazar of the Ottawa Senators and Connor McDavid, the presumptive No. 1 pick in this years NHL draft. Point, who was Canadas 13th forward entering the world junior championships, gave Canada a 7-0 lead in the third period for his second goal of the tournament.Brayden Point did a great job of stepping in, said Lazar. He fit in nicely with me and Connor, we were happy to get him a goal. ... Hes been a competitor and a player, for something to happen like that, it is the game of hockey and the way she goes sometimes but now theres extra more motivation to win it for him.Point was modest about his performance, instead expressing concern about Fabbris injury.I thought we did a good job, you never like to see a teammate go down, said Point, a draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Randy Smith Jersey. . I thought we did a good job. We have a lot of skill guys.Vancouver Canucks prospect Jake Virtanen moved down to the third line with Nic Petan and Nick Paul.Groulx is uncertain of how his lines will look Sunday when Canada faces Slovakia at in the semifinals, but liked what Point adds with McDavid. IIHF rules prevent Canada from replacing Fabbri on the roster, so 12 healthy forwards remain for Sundays game.I just think Connor needs that a little bit with them, a guy that can play with him, that can make plays with him and maybe the line of Nic needs another shooter with them, said Groulx. We like to balance our lines with speed, with size, with skill.Point, who has 17 goals and 44 points in 29 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League, was in unfamiliar territory as the 13th forward. Its a little different for sure, but I dont think its tough. Its awesome when were winning games, said Point. The goal is the gold medal so its definitely not tough to watch other guys compete. I thought I played pretty well going into a bigger role. You never like to see anyone go down. When Point made the team as the teams extra forward, the coaching staff used the Martin St. Louis analogy. St. Louis was part of a group of forwards who played the role of the extra forward at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. The coaching staff told me about Martin St. Louis (at the Olympics), said Point. Thats a guy thats making $6 million a year. Its part of the team. ' ' '

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens added a new chapter to their rivalry Friday night, despite the fact that its still the pre-season. Spud Webb Jersey .Bobby Ryan scored in overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 4-3 victory, but it was a fight between Mark Borowiecki and P.K. Subban midway through the third that was clearly the highlight of the night for most.Subban was unavailable to comment on the exchange, but Canadiens coach Michel Therrien was proud of his young defenceman. He showed character, he didnt back down, said Therrien. These are the things you dont want to see, but those things happen at times during pre-season games.Borowiecki admitted he was a little surprised to be paired off with Subban after a scrum broke out, but admitted there was a distinct intensity right from the start of the game.It didnt really feel like a pre-season game, it was pretty intense out there, said Borowiecki. I think thats just the nature of this rivalry. It doesnt matter what time of the season its always pretty intense.Borowiecki gave Subban credit for staying in there as long as he did, considering hes a skilled player, but anticipates someone else will likely take care of things if theres a next time.Erik Karlsson, Mike Hoffman and Alex Chiasson also scored for Ottawa as Robin Lehner stopped 24 shots. The Senators are 3-2-1 in exhibition play this year.Alex Galchenyuk, Max Pacioretty and P.A. Parenteau scored for Montreal, which dropped to 4-2-0 in the pre-season. Peter Budaj faced 26 shots. It might be pre-season, but the Senators felt that rallying to get the win was significant. Its huge because we didnt do it very often last year, said Ryan. Even if it is pre-season you get a sense that youre building on something and thats what you want to do. You want to come in every night feeling a little bit better than the night before. After a less than thrilling 40 minutes the two teams gave the 19,034 on hand at Canadian Tire Place something to get excited about as three goals were scored. The period started with the Canadiens leading 2-1, but in a span of just over five minutes three goals were scored.Hoffman tied the game early in the third scoring from a sharp angle down low to beat Budaj. It was only the Senators 10th shot of the game.Parenteau regained the lead for Montreal, scoring a power-play goal from the point. Lehner appeared to make the save, but the puck trickled through his pads. The Senators made the most of a 19-second two-man advantage as Chiasson banged home a Mika Zibanejad rebound to once again tie the game.It was a good battle and I think it was a good game, said Budaj. Unfortunately we didnt get a win.Things got heated shortly after Chiassons goal as Chris Neil and Pacioretty got into it, as well as Subban and Borowiecki. In the end, the Senators were left shorthanded being assessed an extra four minutes.Outshot 12-2 in the second period the Senators were fortunate to only be trailing 2-1.We struggled in the second, said Karlsson. I think theres different parts of the game that we need to work out, but I think we addressed that going into the third and I think we started the third really well and that carried us all the way to the end.Galchenyuk tied the game midway through the second as he came from behind the net, grabbed the puck and had it go in off Cody Cecis stick.I came behind the net and I saw the puck lying there and I knew if I get it quick the goalie wouldnt see much, said Galchenyuk. Lucky for me it was open and it went in.With time winding down Pacioretty was able to take advantage of an Ottawa turnover and broke in alone on Lehner and beat him low glove side to take a 2-1 lead. The Senators didnt register their first shot of the period until the 14-minute mark.Ottawa jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Karlssons power-play goal midway through the first. The two teams are back in action Saturday night as both wrap-up the pre-season schedule.Notes: C Zack Smith, C Colin Greening and D Patrick Wiercioch were a healthy scratch. D Matt Methot remains sidelined and has yet to play this pre-season. This marked Senators D Erik Karlssons first game wearing the captains C. This was the Senators first time experiencing the dry scrape and players admitted it definitely takes momentum away and felt a little long. Atlanta Hawks Gear . With the union re-formed, negotiations with owners will resume Friday on the remaining issues that would be in the collective bargaining agreement, according to a person familiar with the plans. Walt Hazzard Jersey . "Youre next." Hardly. Iguodala tormented his former team with a game better than any he ever played in eight seasons with the 76ers. https://www.cheaphawks.com/1854r-cam-reddish-jersey-hawks.html . -- Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe was alert and recovering at a Denver hospital Saturday after suffering seizure-like symptoms when the teams bus pulled into the airport Friday afternoon for the flight to Kansas City.BOSTON - The game between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bays on Wednesday night was postponed due to inclement weather.
