SHANGHAI, China -- Mercedes set the fastest practice times again at the Chinese Grand Prix on Friday, though rivals Ferrari and Red Bull may have closed the gap somewhat on Formula Ones runaway leader. Jamaal Tinsley Jersey . Mercedes Lewis Hamilton, winner of the past two F1 races, was quickest around the Shanghai International Circuit in the afternoon session after a suspension problem limited him to only nine laps in the morning session. Ferraris Fernando Alonso, however, was just 0.141 seconds behind Hamilton under the watch of new team principal Marco Mattiacci, who arrived in Shanghai to take charge following Stefano Domenicalis abrupt departure this week. Alonso also set the quickest time during the morning practice. Hamilton was delayed in the garage for a half hour in the afternoon session while his crew tried to resolve the suspension trouble. "Its great to be still up front even though we have those issues," he said. "But, still, you want to get the car ready, you want to get the long runs feeling a little better, so theres some work to do." Teammate Nico Rosberg had the third-fastest practice time, about 0.4 seconds behind Hamilton. He said Mercedes still expects to win the race on Sunday, even if its rivals performed well in practice. "Were still looking pretty decent at the moment," he said. "The competitors are pushing -- today, Ferrari was very close." Mercedes has dominated the season, with Hamilton winning in Bahrain and Malaysia and Rosberg in Australia. Only an engine problem on Hamiltons car in the opening race in Melbourne prevented three successive one-two finishes. But Alonso, the defending Chinese GP champion, kept pace with them in the cool conditions of Shanghai, indicating his struggling team may just emerge as a challenger on Sunday. Ferrari has lagged behind Mercedes following the series switch to V6 turbo hybrid engines, and new fuel-saving regulations. The slow start prompted Ferrari to part ways with Domenicali after six years, replacing him with Mattiacci, formerly president of Ferrari North America. Red Bull also kept up the pace on Friday, with Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Ricciardo said, however, he believes Mercedes may have been holding back during practice. "We have to see where they are tomorrow. The gap seems a bit too close for now," he said. "I would like to say weve caught up but theyve got a bit more in there." He was pleased with Red Bulls improvement since Bahrain, where both drivers finished off the podium. "Were making small improvements," Ricciardo said. "I mean, the gap is a big one so its not going to come over one race, but weve crept up a little bit more." Felipe Massa of Williams was sixth fastest in afternoon practice, followed by Ferraris Kimi Raikkonen, who missed the morning session due to a mechanical problem. McLarens Jenson Button, Lotus Romain Grosjean and Toro Rossos Daniil Kvyat rounded out the top 10. Smog hampered visibility at the circuit on Thursday, but conditions were relatively clear for Fridays practice. Rain and cool temperatures were forecast for Saturdays qualifying session. Glenn Robinson III Jersey . -- DeMarcus Cousins had 29 points, nine rebounds and six steals to lead the Sacramento Kings to their third straight preseason win, a 107-90 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night. Bob Netolicky Jersey . Hamels threw seven sharp innings to earn his 100th career victory, Domonic Brown had a career-best five RBIs and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds 12-1 on Saturday night to end a four-game losing streak. https://www.cheappacers.com/ . A wide-eyed 18-year-old visiting North America for only the second time in his young life, Caboclo immediately noticed the "big tower" his new home is best known for. GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Coyotes knew Mike Ribeiro had behavioural issues when they signed him before last season, but hoped a reunion with coach Dave Tippett would help him. It didnt, at least not to the Coyotes satisfaction. The Coyotes initiated a buyout of the final three years of Ribeiros contract on Friday, parting ways with their top off-season acquisition from a year ago. "Mike had some real behavioural issues we felt we could not tolerate going forward," Coyotes general manager Don Maloney said. The Coyotes had sought a playmaking centre for years and appeared to have landed one when they signed Ribeiro to a four-year, $22 million contract last off-season. He was one of the top free agents on the market last year and was considered a major couup for the franchises new ownership group, IceArizona, which had agreed on a lease agreement to keep the team in Glendale just three days earlier. JaKarr Sampson Jersey. The 34-year-old Ribeiro showed flashes of the brilliance he had in Washington, where he played at a point-per-game pace during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season. But as the season wore on, Ribeiro became less effective and struggled with personal problems despite playing for Tippett, his former coach in Dallas. Ribeiro was a healthy scratch in games against Pittsburgh and New Jersey late in the season while the Coyotes were fighting for a playoff spot and was largely ineffective down the stretch. He finished with 16 goals and 31 assists in 80 games. The Coyotes became the Arizona Coyotes on Friday. ' ' '

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork. Anthony Tucker Jersey .com) - A pair of Top 25 teams square off at the Rose Bowl on Saturday when UCLA hosts Arizona. The host Bruins have beaten the Wildcats the last two years, but can they make it three in a row? Despite its 6-2 record, UCLA arguably has been the most disappointing team in the country. The Bruins, ranked seventh in the preseason AP poll, currently are 25th after losing two of their last four games. Coach Jim Moras squad dropped a pair of home games to Utah and Oregon before prevailing on the road over California by two points and Colorado by three in overtime. Dont forget, the Golden Bears and Buffaloes are a combined 2-9 in Pac-12 play this season. Outside the 35-point victory over Arizona State, UCLAs other five wins have come by a combined 23 points, and not one of those five opponents is in the same class as Arizona. The 6-1 Wildcats have been perfect on the road this season with victories over UTSA, Washington State and Oregon. Their one loss (home against USC) came in the game following the huge upset of Oregon, so a slight letdown was possible. Last year, Arizona hosted the Bruins a week after back-to-back road wins over Colorado and California - the same situation UCLA is in now. The Wildcats lost at home to the Bruins by five points as slight 1.5-point favorites. Look for Arizona to gain revenge, especially since UCLAs pass defense has been incredibly weak compared to last year while Arizona is eighth nationally in passing with 348 yards per game. Take Arizona plus seven points in the first of three five-star plays. Oregon State returns home after what might have been its most lethargic performance in years. The Beavers were thoroughly outplayed by Stanford in the 38-14 loss, their third defeat in the last four games. One has to expect a bounce-back effort at home against California, particularly because their secondary is ranked second in the league behind the Cardinal, and Cals strength is its aerial attack. The Golden Bears have played two hard-fought contests the last two weeks, losing a heartbreaker to UCLA and then keeping pace with Oregon for 15 minutes before falling by 18 points. They have not been on the road in almost a month and have not beaten Oregon State in Corvallis since 2006. In fact, the Beavers have won 12 of the last 15 meetings and have covered six of the last seven. They also have outscored Cal, 111-31, over the last two games. It is true this Beavers squad is not in the same class as previous years, but if Mike Rileys team can take Utah to double overtime at home, it should easily defeat California by more than a field goal in the same stadium. Take Oregon State minus three points. Pittsburgh hosts Duke in a key ACC Coastal Division matchup. The Blue Devils are on top at 2-1, including a win over Georgia Tech, which is 3-2. Four other squads are right behind at 2-2. Duke followed up its road victory over Georgia Tech with a seven-point home win over Virginia. The Blue Devils had a week off to get ready for the Panthers, who have lost four of their last five games. Pittsburghs lone win came over Virginia Tech, the worst team in the Coastal Division. The Panthers had zero chance to defeat Georgia Tech last week after fumbling four times on their first four possessions, leading to four Yellow Jackets touchdowns. Pittsburgh trailed 28-0 with only about five minutes off the clock! The Panthers now are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games. They also are 0-5 ATS in their last five as home favorites, and outside of their 2013 win and cover over a 2-10 Virginia team, they have failed to cover an ACC game as home favorites. Since losing by three points (and covering) at home against Pittsburgh early last season, the Blue Devils are 14-3 with the three losses coming to Florida State, Texas A&M and Miami (Florida). They should be favored in this game by about a touchdown. Instead, Pittsburgh is giving 3.5 points. Take Duke plus the 3.5 points. THREE-STAR CHOICES For some strange reason, North Carolina was a 17-point underdog against Miami (Florida) earlier in the week. The line has since dropped to 14.5, still a very high number considering how well the Tar Heels have been playing of late. Moreover, they are 9-4 in their last 13 games when getting nine points or more, and Miami is 4-11 in its last 15 games when giving a touchdown or more. The Hurricanes have looked outstanding the last two games, blowing out both Cincinnati and Virginia Tech, but they still have three defeats on the season, including two in ACC play. In addition, they have their biggest game of the year coming up next against Florida State. Last season, the Hurricanes barely defeated Wake Forest, 24-21, as 26-point home favorites in the game leading up to Florida State, while two years ago, they lost to the Tar Heels prior to taking on the Seminoles. North Carolina has the same conference record (2-2) as Miami and the Heels are playing much better than they did earlier in the season. They almost defeated Notre Dame, losing by a touchdown on the road. Then they beat Georgia Tech by five points at home, and last week, they were getting seven points at Virginia and won outright, 28-27. Take North Carolina plus 14.5 points. San Diego State is at Nevada in a crucial Mountain West Conference battle. The Aztecs lead the West Division with a 3-1 record, but Nevada is one game back at 2-2. The Wolf Pack are riding a two-game winning streak with road victories over BYU and Hawaii. Even though this contest is a home game, they have done a good bit of traveling of late, first going to Provo, Utah, and then out to Honolulu. Now they take on the Aztecs, who were off last week after hosting Hawaii on Oct. 18. San Diego State is one of the better rushing teams in the country with Donnel Pumphrey leading the charge. The sophomore already has 989 yards and 12 touchdowns after just seven games. Meanwhile, Nevada is allowing 4.7 yards per carry this season. San Diego State has won and covered the last three meetings. Another one will be on its way this Saturday night. Take San Diego State plus three points. TWO-STAR SELECTIONS Take Cincinnati -4 (Tulane), Missouri -7 (Kentucky) and Ole Miss -2.5 (Auburn). ONE-STAR PLAYS Take Maryland +3.5 (Penn State), Colorado +4 (Washington), Purdue +23.5 (Nebraska) and San Jose State +7 (Colorado State) THIS YEARS RECORD My overall record stands at 69-63-4 after a 4-5-1 mark in Week 9. There were no five-star selections, so they remain at 5-5. The three-star plays went 0-2-1 and are 10-7-1 overall. The two-star choices went 2-0 for a nine-week total of 25-25. The one-star plays went 2-3 for a 29-26-3 mark. THIS WEEKS JEFF FRANK DIRTY DOZEN 1) Ole Miss, 103.5; 2) Alabama, 102.5; 3) TCU, 102; 4) Georgia, 101.5; 5) Ohio State, 101; 6-T) Florida State, Oregon and Michigan State, 100; 9) Mississippi State, 99; 10) Auburn, 98.5; 11-T) LSU and Baylor, 97 (The Dirty Dozen is not a reflection of a given teams won-loss record. After their narrow but merited 2-1 win over Romania on Friday, Didier Deschamps men could clinch a place in the last 16 depending on the earlier result between the Romanians and Switzerland. There is cause for concern, however, as they lost 1-0 to Albania when they met 12 months ago through an Ergys Kace free kick. Indeed, the French also had to come from behind to draw another friendly 1-1 in Rennes in November 2014, with Antoine Greizmann denying Albania their first win on French soil.Even with those recent results in mind, Deschamps will have confidence his team can succeed at the imposing Stade Velodrome. C. J. Miles Jersey. Albania have never beaten Les Bleus in France, conceding nine goals across three games and scoring only once in return (D1 L2). Albania lost their opening match against Switzerland and had Lorik Cana sent off in the first half France have played at the Stade Velodrome twice in the European Championships, losing to Czechoslovakia in 1960 (0-2) but beating Portugal in 1984 (3-2). Even with 10 men they had a right go but just could not stick the ball in the back of the net. However, France got better as their first match went on. The nerves started to disappear and they relaxed a lot more which will help them as the tournament goes on.PAUL PREDICTS: 3-0BettingWednesday nights clash represents the most one-sided clash of Euro 2016 according to Sky Bet, with Albania 14/1 outsiders for the victory. DENVER -- Toronto coach Dwane Casey wasnt ready to celebrate after the Raptors ended a decade-long drought in Denver. Carl Braun Jersey . He was too upset about his teams lacklustre finish. DeMar DeRozan scored 19 points, Terrence Ross had 18 and Toronto, after opening a 25-point lead, settled for a 100-90 victory over the Nuggets on Friday night. "We will take the W, but it was not a quality finish," Casey said. "I let the players know I was disappointed in the close. You cant come in and feel like you have the game won with a 20-point lead. You have to continue to execute, be strong with the ball and continue to execute defensively if you want to be serious about winning in this league." Jonas Valanciunas and Kyle Lowry added 13 points apiece for the Raptors, who snapped a nine-game losing streak in the Mile High City dating to 2003. Still, Caseys postgame critique on his teams fourth-quarter play -- the Raptors were outscored 20-14 in the period -- outweighed any sense of relief over the end of the streak. "We have to finish a lot better," Lowry said. "This is the NBA. Teams are going to make a run. Were not going to be negative. We won the game. But we have to finish better than that." The Nuggets were dealing with their own problems. They announced during the game that guard Nate Robinson had season-ending surgery earlier Friday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Robinson was injured in a spill underneath the Nuggets basket during the first quarter of Wednesday nights loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. The Nuggets also were without leading scorer Ty Lawson, who missed his second consecutive game Friday with a left rotator cuff strain. "We dont want anybody to feel sorry for us and we wont feel sorry for ourselves," Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said. "We just have to continue to fight, stay positive, keep working and just be more fundamentally sound." J.J. Hickson and Evan Fournier led the Nuggets with 18 points apiece. Hickson also had 13 rebounds. Randy Foye, normally a shooting guard switched to the point in the absence of Lawson and Robinson, had 10 points and a career-high 16 assists. But he also committed eight of the Nuggets 26 turnovers, which led to 29 points for Toronto. "Randy played 43 minutes, Evan 38 minutes, and theyre not accustomed to playing that many minutes as well," Shaw said. "They started getting tired, then we started losing our fundamentals and throwing the ball all over the place. That was our biggest thing tonight." Hickson said it is also going to take some time for players to adjust to new, sometimes unfamiliar roles thrust on them by the backcourt injuries. "Its going to be a process," Hickson said. "I cant say its going to be a long process, because we dont have much time. It has to be a quick process. But I think once guys get adjusted and settled in, well be good." Toronto moved to a season high four games above .500 (25-21) and tied a franchise record with its 11th win in January. The Raptors also won 11 games in January 2002. Leading by seven at halftime, the Raptors put together an 11-2 run late in the third quarter to go up 84-68 with 2:46 left in the period. DeRozan ignited the surge by driving through traffic and putting in a reverse layup off the glass and helped keep it going by knocking down a pair of jumpers. By the start of the fourth quarter, the Raptors led by 16 points and 50 seconds later, Valanciunas dunked to stretch Torontos advantage to 90-70. After Timofey Mozgov scored on a turnaround jumper for Denver, Toronto reeled off seven straight points, including a 3-pointer by John Salmons for a 97-72 lead with 8:47 left. The Nuggets made a late push with a 14-2 run cutting it to 99-86 on a dunk by Kenneth Faried with 3:32 remaining. But Ross then blocked Fourniers driving layup attempt and after Valanciunas made one of two free throws, the Nuggets lost another possession on a turnover by Foye, failing to get the deficit under double digits. The Raptors turned a steal into a breakaway dunk by Ross for a 60-53 lead at halftime. The rim-rattling jam brought the Raptors bench to its feet. NOTES: Foye had 11 assists in the first half, most by a Nuggets player in a half since Steve Blake had 11 on Feb. 14, 2007. ... Toronto won for the first time in Denver since an 81-74 victory on Dec. 30, 2003. ... Hickson has had a double-double in 12 of his last 23 games. Howard Komives Jersey .Y. -- First, Ryan Miller. McGowan pitched three-hit ball for seven innings, Colby Rasmus hit a grand slam and Melky Cabrera added a two-run homer as the Blue Jays beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-2.BOSTON -- Down to their final strike, the Seattle Mariners put a dramatic end to more than three years of futility at Fenway Park. Austin Jackson hit a bases-loaded double with two outs in the ninth inning and Dustin Ackley followed with a two-run, bloop single as the Mariners rallied to score five times and beat the Boston Red Sox 5-3 on Friday night. "The first three hours of that game we didnt look very good," Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said. "Then all of a sudden, with two outs, we turned it on. I cant figure it out." Red Sox closer Koji Uehara (5-4) held a 3-0 lead with two outs and a runner on first before the Mariners broke loose. Seattle ended a nine-game losing streak at Fenway that began in May 2011. The Mariners had managed only two hits through the first eight innings, then got five against Uehara in the ninth and extended Bostons losing streak to six. Dominic Leone (6-2) pitched one inning of relief for the victory and Fernando Rodney got his 37th save. A night after being held to one hit in a 2-0 loss to the Angels, the Red Sox chased Seattle ace Felix Hernandez in the sixth inning after Yoenis Cespedes three-run homer. Hernandez was in line for the loss before the ninth-inning rally, which he said he watched from the clubhouse. "I didnt even move. I did not move because I did not want to change anything," Hernandez said. "Its huge for us, man. We needed this one." Boston starter Joe Kelly limited Seattle to one hit in five solid innings and three relievers preserved the shutout until Ueharas collapse in the ninth. Uehara had an 0-2 count on Jackson, who drove the next pitch down the line in left to cut the lead to 3-2. Ackley was next and hit a blooper to shallow left just out of shortstop Brock Holts reach as he made a diving attempt. "I thought I was pretty close. He hit it kind of far up there. I was hoping I could get to it and end the game. Unfortunately it fell," Holt said. KING FELIX Hernandez pitched for the first time since his record streak of 16 straight starts of seven or more innings while allowing two runs or fewer ended Saturday in a loss at Detroit. Hernandez three strikeouts for his sixth straight season with 200 or more and finished with seven over 5 2-3 innings. He also gave up five hits, including two in the costly sixth inning. BBIG PAPI RETURNS Boston DH David Ortiz returned to the lineup after resting Thursday and had a single and a double in his first two at-bats. Air Max 97 Nere Outlet. After Daniel Nava led off the sixth with a double and went to third on a fielders choice, the Mariners werent taking chances on Big Papi." Seattle walked Ortiz intentionally to face Cespedes and the move backfired when Cespedes hit a towering shot to left, clearing the Green Monster entirely and giving Boston a 3-0 lead. Cespedes fouled off three straight pitches before breaking the scoreless tie with his 20th homer of the season, the fourth since being traded to the Red Sox. ERASER Seattle temporarily held a 1-0 in the fourth before Boston challenged a call successfully and took the run off the board. Kendrys Morales hit a sinking fly ball that centre fielder Mookie Betts reached with full-speed dive that was initially ruled a hit. Betts was so certain he caught the ball for the third out that he wasnt paying attention to Ackley rounding third, then made a wild throw toward home that sailed to the backstop. Boston still had its challenge and the call was overturned after a quick review confirmed Betts made the catch. NO STREAK With the comeback, the Mariners avoided losing consecutive games for the first time since a four-game skid July 22-25. TRAINERS ROOM: Mariners: CF Michael Saunders rehab assignment as he gets over an oblique strain has been temporarily interrupted by flu-like symptoms. "He will not play for two or three days," McClendon said. "Hes been dehydrated." It is the second rehab interruption for Saunders, who was out on paternity leave last month. Red Sox: SS Xander Bogaerts was hit in the head by a pitch in the fifth and left the game between innings to be evaluated for a concussion. ... 1B Mike Napoli missed his third straight game with back spasms. Manager John Farrell said Napoli could return to the lineup on Saturday. UP NEXT: Mariners: RHP Chris Young (12-6, 3.07 ERA) returns to the mound after pitching six scoreless innings in his last start, when Seattle beat Detroit 8-1. Red Sox: RHP Brandon Workman (1-7, 4.26 ERA) tries to end a slide of losses in six straight starts. KANSAS CITY, Mo. Ua Curry 4 Outlet . -- Royals ace James Shields is open to staying in Kansas City beyond this season. That news should make the thousands of fans, already flying high over the teams strong finish a year ago, feel even better as they turned out for their annual FanFest on Friday. The Royals exercised their $13.5 million option on Shieldss contract shortly after going 86-76 last season, their best finish since 1989. The durable right-hander was a big reason behind the success, going 13-9 with a 3.15 ERA in an American League-leading 228.2 innings. Shields told a small group of reporters at Bartle Hall that he was willing to discuss an extension, but he said those talks with general manager Dayton Moore have not taken place. "Id definitely be open-minded to it," Shields said. "A player in my position, where I have one more year left before free agency, I mean, Im definitely open to it. I like Kansas City. I like the organization and I like the direction were going." If Shields went to the open market, its unlikely that the Royals would be a player in the chase. There were reports this off-season that he would seek a contract similar to that of former Royals star Zack Greinke, who signed a $147 million, six-year deal with the Dodgers last season. "Thats absolutely not true at all," Shields said. "I have no clue where he got that from, to be honest with you. Ive had no discussions with Dayton at all. "If Dayton wants to talk about it, Im more than willing to sit and talk about it. But during the season, my main focus is trying to win games and get some wins for this team." Pitchers and catchers are due to report to Surprise, Ariz., for the start of spring training on Feb. 14. The first full-squad workout is Feb. 20. Most of the Royals key pieces return from last season, when they contended into September for the first time in a decade. Their two biggest holes were filled by trading reliever Will Smith to Milwaukee for right field Norichika Aoki and signing Omar Infante to solidify second base. "I didnt think our defence could get any better," Shields said, "but theyre definitely filling some holes that we had. And theyre great additions to our lineup." Then theres the starting rotation, where Ervin Santana has become a free agent. While the right-hander has yet to sign elsewhere, the Royals appeared to move on when they signed left-hander Jason Vargas to a contract early in the off-season. Along with Jeremy Guthrie, the first three spots in the rotation are set. That leaves two up for grabs among a handful of candidates, including starters-turned-relievers Wade Davis and Luke Hochevar, veteran Bruce Chen, left-hander Danny Duffy and flame-thrower Yordano Ventura. "Ive just been working hard, resting my arm," said Ventura, who had a 3.52 ERA in three late-season starts in Kansas City. "Ive just been getting ready because I want to get out there and make the team." That doesnt figure to be an easy task given the glut of competition. "Its a competitive game anyway," Davis said. "Why not do it from within a little bit?" Davis said that he spent the off-season in the weight room, and pronounced himself more ready for this season than any previous year. He also said that hes already been throwing some bullpen sessions, giving him a head start on reporting for spring training. "Im definitely going in to start," said Davis, who began last season in the rotation but was demoted to the bullpen when he proved ineffective. "Hopefully I get that opportunity." Curry 6 Outlet . CNN and Gazzetta dello Sport reporter Tancredi Palmeri broke the news via Twitter Tuesday afternoon. Italian Football Association President Giancarlo Abete has also resigned, according to Palmeri. SUNRISE, Fla. -- The Buffalo Sabres got the lead for a change, and held onto it thanks to a stellar performance in goal by Jhonas Enroth. Steve Ott scored the go-ahead goal, Enroth made 44 saves and the Sabres beat the Florida Panthers 3-1 Friday night to win for just the second time in 12 games and break a three-game losing streak. Rasmus Ristolainen and Cody Hodgson also scored for Buffalo. Coming into the game, the Sabres (2-9-1) had led for only 9 minutes, 35 seconds this season, in their game against Tampa Bay on Oct. 8. Their other win was in a shootout against the New York Islanders on Oct. 15. Enroth withstood a steady barrage from the Panthers, who took a season-high 45 shots. He only stumbled once when Jesse Winchester batted the puck out of the air in front and into the net for Floridas goal. "I think I played a pretty perfect game . well, it was a perfect game, that goal they scored is one out of a hundred I think, so it was a good game for me," Enroth said. "I dont think they can do that play over again." The Sabres went ahead 2-1 at 12:42 in the third on Otts goal. Christian Ehrhoff took a shot from the point and Ott was able to tip it past Jacob Markstrom. Hodgson scored an empty-net goal with 47 seconds left. "That was a huge goal for us to score in the third," Enroth said. "Usually we give up the goal with a couple minutes left. . Hopefully we can start building on that. This is a special feeling, winning the game instead of losing when you play good." Markstrom stopped 18 shots in the Panthers fifth loss in six games. The Sabres tied it 1-all on Ristolainens goal at 13:32 of the second period. The 18-year-old rookie got his first NHL goal on a slap shot from the right circle that got past Markstrom. "We were able to get a couple point shots through there, that was big, and on both goals we had some good net presence," Sabres coach Ron Rolston said. Fake Curry 6. "We were fortunate to get those two and the guys turned in a real good third." Besides Ristolainen, the Sabres played three other players that are teenagers: Mikhail Grigorenko (19) Zemgus Girgensons (19) and Nikita Zadorov (18). "Theyve done a good job. . I like where are young guys are right now and where theyre going and where were heading," Rolston said. The Panthers took a 1-0 lead on Winchesters goal in the first period. Sean Bergenheim passed from the left circle across to Winchester, who was able to tip in the puck high into the net at 13:58 for his second goal of the season. It was Bergenheims first NHL point since April 26, 2012, in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against New Jersey. "It was a pretty simple play. I just drove the net and hit it out of the air," Winchester said. "It wasnt pretty, but it was great to see Bergy get in on it, especially so early on in the game." Bergenheim played two games in Finland during the lockout last year, but has spent 18 months recovering from multiple surgeries on his abdomen, groin and hip. The Panthers outshot the Sabres 18-4 in the first period, and led in shots 34-14 at the end of the second. "There was a lot of hard work put into the game and theres no reward at all. Theres no points," Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. "At the end of the day, were all about the two points. On that one, its not a good night." NOTES: Buffalo C Cody McCormick, sidelined with a leg injury since Oct. 19, returned to the ice on Friday. . D Mike Weber sustained an upper body injury. . Floridas 45 shots is a season high and the most since 39 in the season opener at Dallas on Oct. 3. ... Florida G Tim Thomas is on injured reserve after a sustaining a lower body injury on Oct. 22 against Chicago. He will be eligible to be activated on Nov. 1. ' ' '

Playing primarily on the third line, Fontaine also had one goal and one assist in nine playoff games. The 26-year-old Fontaines goal total last season was the third-highest by a rookie in Wild history, and his plus-minus rating was second. FLORHAM PARK, N. Air Jordan 1 Retro .J. - These are dark days for Rex Ryan and the New York Jets.Ryan is a coach with an uncertain future, and that means beyond even Sundays game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Jets will go on their bye-week break at this time next week and speculation has started that they could say bye-bye to their coach. After all, the Jets (1-8) are searching for answers and, more importantly, victories in a season marked by eight straight losses that has a disappointed fanbase already thinking about the NFL draft and next year. Our fans, I recognize their frustrations, Ryan said Monday, and its probably not easy to be a Jets fan right now. After a 24-10 loss at Kansas City on Sunday, this group of Jets became the third in franchise history to lose eight consecutive games. The last time was in 1996, when New York finished 1-15 under Rich Kotite, a season widely recognized as the worst — and most embarrassing — in team history. Before that, the 1975 Jets dropped eight straight on their way to a 3-11 season.Yep, those were tough times, too.But nine straight losses? It has never been done in the history of the franchise. Its just a stat, man, defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson said. We didnt want to lose eight straight, so we most definitely dont want to go nine. But talk about bad timing.Up next for the Jets, dealing with a shaky secondary situation all season, are the Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger, who is coming off becoming the first player in NFL history to throw 12 touchdown passes in a two-game stretch, with six in each.Nah, no concerns, Ryan said, almost rolling his eyes. I mean, when you look at it realistically, obviously, it is a huge concern. Theyre on fire right now. And, quite frankly, the Jets are the complete opposite.Picked by many before the season to hover between seven and nine wins and be in the playoff hunt, the Jets will be hard-pressed to win three or four games. We didnt expect to be in this position, said quarterback Michael Vick, wholl start against the Steelers. Obviously, coming into the year, you set high expectations and we had a lot of goals and to be one of the best teams in the league. To be in this position is very shocking. Some disgruntled season ticketholders set up a website last week called FireJohnIdzik.com, dedicated to urging owner Woody Johnson to part ways with the teams general manager. The site has raised $10,000 to buy space on a billboard near MetLife Stadium to further their cause.Idzik is feeling the heat, maybe even more than anyone else in the organization, because of the perception that he did little to provide Ryan with a roster that could be successful.Angry fans point to the lack of depth at cornerback, failed draft picks — only five of the 12 from last May are on the active roster — and the failure of Geno Smith to prove himself as a franchise-type quarterback.Ryan is not without blame, though, with in-game decisions and his once mighty defence failing to be dominant key strikes against him. Some fans and media believe its not a question of if, but when Johnson will cut ties with Ryan — and very possibly Idzik. If the Jets owner comes to that conclusion, it probably would be after the regular-season finale in Miami in December, but Ryan insists hes not thinking of that.I dont look past Pittsburgh, Ryan said defiantly. I know my opportunity is to be a head coach right now and Im going to do the best job I possibly can do for this football team, and to give us a chance to be successful. When Ryan was hired in 2009, he was a breath of fresh air to a stale franchise. He was a brash, bold media darling who commanded attention because no one knew what he might say or do.He restored the Jets to relevance on a national level, leading the franchise to consecutive trips to the AFC title game in his first two years. But, Ryan has toned things down a bit, and its understandable, considering the Jets are looking at their fourth straight season out of the post-season. Thats hardly a stretch that guarantees hell be back next season, and Ryan knows it.Well, 1-8, we all get it, Ryan said. I understand it, but the season is not over. You judge by when the season is over and you make up your own mind. But I know one thing: It isnt going to be by lack of effort, lack of passion, lack of anything. The results arent there yet, certainly they arent there yet, and thats not acceptable to anybodys standard, certainly not mine. So again, we have a lot of season left and I think our football team is going to play a lot better.___AP NFL websites: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Air Jordan 1 Discount . Raymond, 31, started 15 regular-season games for the Stamps in 2013, racking up 51 tackles. He also returned two kickoffs for 79 yards including a 61-yarder. MILAN, Italy -- A last-minute goal saw Inter Milan fall to a 2-1 defeat at home to Atalanta in Serie A on Sunday and lose pace in the race for a European place. Giacomo Bonaventura scored his second goal of the match with 10 seconds remaining after Inter had hit the woodwork three times in an entertaining second half. Mauro Icardi had cancelled out Bonaventuras goal within 60 seconds in the first half. Inter remained fifth and is level on points with Parma, which earlier drew 1-1 against Genoa and has a game in hand. Hellas Veronas European bid was dented again as it lost 5-0 at Sampdoria. Elsewhere, Udinese beat Sassuolo 1-0 and Bologna won a relegation fight against Cagliari by the same score. Fourth-placed Fiorentina, which is a point ahead of Inter and Parma, visits Napoli later. Also Sunday, Lazio hosts AC Milan and leader Juventus visits bottom club Catania. Atalanta started the brighter at San Siro and Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic pulled off several good saves, while German Denis headed Bonaventuras cross off the crossbar. The visitors broke the deadlock in the 35th minute as Maxi Moralez rolled the ball across for Bonaventura to finish off a rapid counterattack. But Inter was immediately level when Icardi latched onto Fredy Guarins through ball and cut across Mario Yepes before firing into the bottom left corner. To celebrate he held up a T-shirt dedicated to his girlfriend Wanda Nera, the ex-wife of former Sampdoria teammate Maxi Lopez. Inter should have sealed the match in the second half but Guarin smashed a shot off the crossbar and Rodrigo Palacioo sent a glancing header onto the left upright. Cheap Air Jordan 1. Both sides could have snatched the win. Inters Jonathan cleared off the line three minutes from time before chipping the ball off the underside of the crossbar at the other end. Atalanta secured the result when Bonaventura was left completely unmarked at the far post to head a free kick between Handanovics legs. Parma maintained its charge toward a European spot as it extended its club record unbeaten run to 17 matches. Genoa took the lead against the run of play in the 21st when Isaac Cofie drilled Moussa Konates through ball across Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante. Parma levelled 10 minutes later. Genoa failed to deal properly with a free kick and Ezequiel Schelotto fired a powerful shot into the top corner. Verona looked on course for a European spot at the turn of the year but has only won one of its past 11 games and fell to a third consecutive loss. Sampdoria took the lead in the fourth minute when Renans effort crashed off the bottom of the right post and Gianluca Sansone was on hand for the tap in. Renan then got on the scoresheet himself before a double for Roberto Soriano. Angelo Palombo added the fifth. At Udinese, captain Antonio Di Natale scored his 10th goal of the season to ensure he reached double figures in goals for the eighth consecutive season. It was a good way to mark his 324th league appearance for Udinese -- a new club record. Di Natale could have had a second but kicked up a chunk of turf as he ballooned a penalty over the bar. Sassuolo also missed a penalty kick. ' ' '

England should resist any urge to recall Jos Buttler from the IPL and pick him for the first Test against Sri Lanka, says Nick Knight. Wholesale Air Max 270 . James Taylors enforced retirement has opened up a spot in Englands middle order, with one possible option to promote Jonny Bairstow up to No 5 and hand Buttler the gloves. Pundits pick England squad Who would our experts play against Sri Lanka? However, Sky Sports pundit Knight reckons Buttler - who lost his spot as England wicketkeeper to Bairstow during the series against Pakistan in the UAE late last year - should continue to develop his game with Mumbai Indians. Whats best for his development now is for him to be where he is, the former England batsman said of Buttler, who is being coached at Mumbai by Ricky Ponting and teaming with the likes of Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard. Nick Knight has selected Gary Ballance at No 5 in his England Test team He is around star names and different conditions, which will stay with him for the rest of his career, so I think he is in the right place.I have no doubt that down the line, whether thats six months or a year, that he will be a Test match cricketer - he has all the skills, although it may take him a bit of time to find the right tempo to bat at in Test cricket. For consistency of selection and while he carries on doing what he has done, I would stick with Bairstow batting somewhere in the top six or seven and keeping the gloves in hand. Buttlers top score in his 10 IPL innings to date is the quick-fire 41 from 22 balls he lashed against Kolkata Knight Riders on his second appearance. He will feel like he hasnt announced himself yet, Knight added of Buttler, who has been batting at No 4 and 5 for his franchise since being picked up in the IPL auction for around £385,000.When he got 41 in his second game I thought it might allow him to kick on but he hasnt really done that. Jos Buttler has shown flashes of his skills in the IPL We have to remember, though, that while we have such high expectations of Jos from what we have seen with England, this is a whole new environment for himPlayers will tell you that there is nothing better than going into a dressing room where everyone knows you and you have nothing to prove. Here Jos will feel he has something to prove and want to justify his fee.Watch Englands Test series with Sri Lanka live on Sky Sports 2, starting with the first game, at Headingley, from 10am on Thursday, May 19.You can also catch each and every IPL game, live on Sky Sports. WASHINGTON -- The Washington Redskins have turned to a familiar name associated with a notorious blunder as they try to fill the biggest hole on their roster. Ryan Clark, who was allowed to leave Washington nearly a decade ago when they decided that Adam Archuleta was the better option at safety, was scheduled for a visit to Redskins Park. The team on Wednesday was also planning to host defensive end Antonio Smith, although another of its targeted players -- cornerback Corey Graham -- decided to sign with the Buffalo Bills. In addition, the Redskins announced the signings of receiver Andre Roberts, guard Shawn Lauvao and special teams standout Adam Hayward. All three agreed to their deals shortly after the start of the leagues open market period Tuesday afternoon. There was another addition: a one-year deal for free agent tackle Bruce Campbell, a 2010 draft pick who sat out last season with a shoulder injury and has yet to start an NFL game. His signing continued a modest approach to free agency despite salary cap money to spend after a 3-13 season. Campbell would provide some competition for Tyler Polumbus at right tackle, although the Redskins were expected to pursue a proven starter at the position. Campbells deal is worth $710,000, according to The Washington Post. The Redskins initial free agency moves were noteworthy for two reasons: They represent a more pragmatic approach now that general manager Bruce Allen has been given control of the roster, and they didnt include a safety. Most of the top available safeties were snapped up wwithin hours of the start of free agency. Air Max 95 Store. Jairus Byrd, T.J. Ward, Donte Whitner and Antoine Bethea are off the board. The Redskins made a play for Mike Mitchell, but he chose to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Redskins face uncertainty at both safety positions. Incumbents Brandon Meriweather and Reed Doughty are both free agents; Meriweather has battled injuries and inconsistency, while Doughty is more valuable in a special teams role. Washington drafted a pair of safeties last year, but Phillip Thomas missed the season with a foot injury and Bacarri Rambo lost a starting job after struggling early in the season. Clark turns 35 this year and is on the backside of his career, but he is expected to field offers from several teams before accepting an offer. He would add leadership to a defence that is losing captain London Fletcher, who plans to retire. The Redskins rue the fact that they didnt have Clark in his prime: He had eight productive seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers after Washington didnt re-sign him after the 2005 season, while Archuleta became one of the biggest free agent busts for a franchise that has had more than its share. Clark announced on ESPN that he would be visiting the Redskins, although his appearance on the Bristol-based network might have led to complications for his free agency plans. Late Wednesday, he tweeted: "Is this a sign? Crazy traffic in Conn. Might miss the flight to DC!" Later, he tweeted: "Man, now my flight is delayed! Sign .2? Come on man!" ' ' '

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have hired former Tennessee Titans boss Mike Munchak as their new offensive line coach. China Jerseys Reviews . Munchak replaces Jack Bicknell Jr., who was let go after just one season with the Steelers. Munchak, a Hall of Fame guard during his 12-year playing career with the Houston Oilers, went 22-26 in three seasons with Tennessee. He was fired by the Titans on Jan. 4 over a disagreement with upper management on which direction to take the franchise. The 53-year-old Munchak served as Tennessees offensive line coach from 1997-2010. During that period the Titans ranked seventh in the NFL in yards rushing per game and had four different linemen make the Pro Bowl. Munchak grew up in Scranton, Pa., and played at Penn State before heading to the NFL. China Jerseys Fake . In a matter of days, he went from unwanted to wanted, from fired to hired, from discarded by the Philadelphia Eagles with reputation tarnished to rock star treatment and a new fat contract from the Washington Redskins. China Jerseys Online . The Brazilian heads into Saturday afternoons race coming off a close runner-up finish to Ryan Hunter-Reay in the Indianapolis 500. http://www.chinajerseyspaypal.com/ . It was the first game back in Columbus for Rangers star Rick Nash, the Blue Jackets franchise leader in goals, assists and games. He was given a standing ovation during a video tribute in the first period, but was booed loud and long after a second-period, two-handed shove up high on Columbus goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. The Penguins get by the Blue Jackets, the Wild and Kings force Game Sevens. Notes on Malkin, Crosby, Johnson, Dubinsky, Parise, Kopitar, Williams, Stalock and more. PENGUINS GET PAST BLUE JACKETS Pittsburgh looked like they were free and clear after racing out to a 4-0 lead, led by Evgeni Malkins hat trick, but then the Blue Jackets scored three goals in a 4:52 span in the third period to make for a heart-stopping finish. In the end, the Penguins held on to win 4-3, taking the series in six games. Malkin, who took some criticism for his lack of production, finished the series with seven points in six games. Not bad at all. After being on the ice for 71.2% of 5-on-5 shot attempts in Game Six, Malkin finished the series with an impressive 59.2% Corsi percentage. Malkin was the driving force for Pittsburgh in the deciding game, as was D Kris Letang, who was on for 21 5-on-5 shot attempts for and seven against. Penguins D Matt Niskanen contributed a couple of assists, giving him eight points for the series. That tied D Paul Martin for the Penguins scoring lead. The ever-disappointing Sidney Crosby (I kid, I kid) had six assists in six games and was on the ice for 61.3% of 5-on-5 shot attempts. If thats a Crosby worthy of criticism, rue the day that he starts playing to his typical level of excellence. Columbus attack was paced by a couple of defencemen. Fedor Tyutin, with a goal and an assist, and Jack Johnson, with two assists, led the charge. Johnson finished the series with a team-leading seven points, despite struggling in puck possession terms. While Johnson struggled in terms of possession, James Wisniewski fared pretty well in that regard, at least in relative terms. Centres Brandon Dubinsky and Ryan Johansen each had six points for the Blue Jackets, while rookie LW Boone Jenner had five. Dubinsky had 40 hits over the course of the series, a total that leads the NHL postseason. That the series proved to be competitive should come as no surprise, but it should also come as no surprise that the Penguins had the high-end skill to overcome a spirited challenge from Columbus. WILD FORCE SEVEN Fighting for their playoff lives, the Minnesota Wild jumped out to a 2-0 lead, gave it back, then scored the winner with 6:29 left in third period, before adding a couple of empty-netters to ice a 5-2 victory in Game Six, forcing Game Seven back in Denver. Wild LW Zach Parise had a huge game, netting the game-winner as part of a two goal, two assist performance. Parise now has 10 points in the postseason, tied with Colorados Nathan MacKinnon for the playoff scoring lead. Ryan Suter and Mikko Koivu each had twoo assists and Jason Pominville had a goal and an assist. China Jerseys. Wild LW Nino Niederreiter had quite a game in possession terms, on for 15 shot attempts for and three against (83.3%). With Niederreiter off the ice, the Wild had 38.2% of the 5-on-5 shot attempts. Though they came out on the losing end, Colorado did get C Matt Duchene back in the lineup and he contributed an assist in 18:52 of ice time. RW Ryan OReilly assisted on both Colorado goals. That this series is going seven games is rather fortunate for the Avalanche. The Wild have the best Fenwick Close in the playoffs which, naturally, means Colorado has the worse and that 60-40 disparity in even-strength shot attempts is difficult to overcome. The Avalanche have overcome shot deficits all season, leaning heavily on G Semyon Varlamov, so that is likely what they will need if they are going to get through Game Seven. The Avalanche can also take some comfort in the fact that the home team has won every game in this series. KINGS PUSH SHARKS TO SEVEN Faced with the prospect of losing their three-games-to-none lead in the series, the San Jose Sharks were forced to go into Game Six without top defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic, who was injured in Game Five, and then made the decision to start backup goaltender Alex Stalock in place of Antti Niemi. The result? A 4-1 Kings win, sending the series to Game Seven back in San Jose. Tied at one, with 8:04 remaining, Kings RW Justin Williams scored the winning goal, pushing Stalock back towards the Sharks net, jarring the puck loose and into the net. As controversial as that goal was, the Kings tacked on two more in short order, both by C Anze Kopitar, in the next 2:46 to put the game away. Kopitar added an assist, giving him eight points in the series, to the lead the Kings, while D Drew Doughty added a couple of assists, giving him six points in six games. Williams finished with two goals and an assist to lead the Kings. This series has been very even, with the Sharks holding a 132-128 edge in unblocked shot attempts with the score close (within a goal for the first two periods, tied in the third/overtime). Thats close enough for goaltending to make the difference and, given the uncertainty in that respect with the Sharks, Jonathan Quick is more appealing. Even so, the Sharks do get home-ice advantage in their attempt to avoid being the fourth team in NHL history to lose a series in which they led three games to none. CHICAGO -- A couple of weeks ago, Jeff Samardzija was a symbol of the Chicago Cubs struggles when he was winless despite leading the major leagues in ERA. Christian Laettner Jersey . Now Samardzija has his second win in three starts for a team trying to turn around its season. Samardzija tossed seven solid innings, Junior Lake hit two home runs and Emilio Bonifacio added a two-run shot as the Cubs extended their winning streak to five with a 5-2 victory over the Miami Marlins on Saturday. "The best thing as a starting pitcher you can have is consistency -- that every time you go out there your coach and your teammates know what youre going to give them," Samardzija said. "Thats what I want to do." Saturday certainly was a start. Samardzija (2-5) allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings, striking out eight. Pedro Strop got his second save. Except for his last outing -- eight runs in three innings at Milwaukee last Sunday -- Samardzija has put up similar numbers all season. The Cubs, though, would always come up short in one phase of the game during his outings, whether it was offence or defence. During the winning streak, consistent all-around production has been the norm. "I think everybodys contributing in some shape or form," Chicago manager Rick Renteria said. "Junior adding two solo homers there, those are big runs, obviously. There are a lot of different things, a lot of little things. Theyre just playing the game." Christian Yelich went 2 for 4 with a homer for the Marlins and opened the scoring in the third inning with a solo shot to make it 1-0. "It was a good swing," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "He keeps battling. He gives you good at-bats. Hes got power. You see it in there. Its just really just a matter of consistency for him. He keeps having good at-bats. Even though his average is probably not where he would want it, or everyone else would want it, I know hes going to give me a good at-bat." The Cubs went in front in the bottom half of the inning when Samardzija singled and Bonifacio hammered a 3-2 pitch from Miami starter Randy Wolf (1-2) into the left-field bleachers for a 2-1 lead. It was Bonifacios first homer since July 30 last season. "That was great," Samardzija said. "I got to jog around the bases instead of having to score from first." The Cubs stretched the lead to 3-1 in the fifth when Lake hit a long homer into the shrubbery in centre field, connecting with a 79 mph changeup on a 2-1 count. Miami got to 3-2 in the sixth inning when Giancarlo Stanton doubled with one out, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Casey McGehees groundout to first base. The Cubs got a run back in the bottom half when Starlin Castro led off with a double, advanced to third on a fly out and scored when Wolf threw a wild pitch with Mike Olt at the plate. Lake bumped the lead to 5-2 an inning later when he went deep for the second time in the game -- the second multihomer game of his career -- on a line drive to left against reliever Chris Hatcher. "I really love how were playing right now as a team in all phases," Samardzija said. "To win big league ballgames you have to have all three or four phases of the game. "I love the way were swinging it right now, and, as a pitcher, it gives you a lot of confidence to go out and pound the zone." NOTES: Cubs LHP Zac Rosscup (left shoulder soreness) began his rehab assignment with Class AAA Iowa Saturday. He has been on the disabled list since May 10. ... Redmond said C Jarrod Saltalamacchia (concussion) has not participated in baseball activities since being hit on his catching mask by a foul tip on May 31 and that it was likely he would be sent to the 15-day disabled list. ... After not scoring 40 points in the opening quarter in the last five seasons, the Rockets have done it five times this season and twice in the last three games. WASHINGTON -- Stephen Strasburg turned in a strong outing and the bats produced another bunch of runs. After two months of mediocrity, perhaps the Washington Nationals have turned the page. Strasburg struck out 11 in seven innings Wednesday night and the Nationals kept the Philadelphia Phillies bats quiet yet again in an 8-4, rain-interrupted win. The Nationals have won four of five, outscoring the Texas Rangers and Phillies 34-10 during that span. True, five games represent barely more than 3 per cent of the regular-season schedule, but they had to start somewhere. "Its been a lot of fun for us, pitching the ball good and swinging the bat well," said leadoff hitter Denard Span, who had two doubles and two RBIs. "Hopefully we keep it going." Strasburg (5-4) had the Phillies flailing as he hit double digits in Ks for the 15th time in his career -- and for the fourth time without issuing a walk. Ten of the right-handers 11 strikeouts were swinging, including Marlon Byrd (95 mph fastball), Ryan Howard (95 mph fastball) and Domonic Brown (88 mph change-up) when the rain started to fall in the sixth inning. "Facing a lefty-heavy lineup is difficult," Washington manager Matt Williams said. "But he used his changeup really well and spotted his fastball." The only consolation for the Phillies is that they scored an earned run for the first time in four games when facing the Nationals ace. The streak reached 25 innings before Philadelphia crossed the plate twice in the fifth -- once earned, once unearned. John Mayberry Jr. added a two-run pinch-hit homer in the seventh, but by then Strasburg had been working with a cushion of a half-dozen runs. The tarp came out shortly afterward, delaying the game for 1 hour, 48 minutes. Anthony Rendon finished with three hits and three RBIs, including a solo homer. Danny Espinosa had a two-run double that was a foot or so away from a grand slam, and Strasburg himself added a single, walk and run scored for the Nationals, who aare above . John Long Jersey. 500 for the first time in two weeks. "The offence has kind of kicked it back in," Williams said. Philadelphias A.J. Burnett (3-5) again had control issues in his worst outing of the season. Tied for the majors lead in walks entering the game, he issued four more free passes, including back-to-back walks in Washingtons four-run fourth and a walk to Strasburg in the three-run sixth. "Theyre unaggressive walks. I dont care if theres a base open. Thats not me," Burnett said. "Thats putting me in passive mode. Thats my fault. Ive got to go after hitters. I dont care if a base is open. I dont care whos up. I mean, thats not who I am. Ill take six aggressive walks over boo-boo walks that are 3-0 sliders, 3-0 curveballs or whatever it is." Burnett allowed eight runs over six innings. He was particularly bothered by the home run he gave up to Rendon in the fifth immediately after the Phillies had cut a 4-0 lead to 4-2. "For somebody who harps on shutdown innings, Im pretty (bad) at it," he said. "And I will be better. Guys throws up runs, you need to put up zeroes after that." The Phillies have lost five straight and are an NL-worst 9-19 since May 4. "Sun is going to come up, believe or not," Burnett said. "It might be a little cloudy." NOTES: It was Burnetts first loss against the Expos-Nationals franchise since April 8, 2002, when his Florida Marlins fell 10-2 to Montreal. He had been 5-0 in nine starts and one relief appearance against the franchise since then. ... Phillies leadoff hitter Jimmy Rollins had the first four-strikeout game of his 15-year career. ... Mayberry has three pinch-hit homers this season. ... X-rays taken Wednesday on Darin Ruf were negative a day after the Phillies outfielder collided with a concrete wall during a game with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Ruf has a sprained left wrist and a cut on his right knee that required stitches, but he has no broken bones. He is on the seven-day disabled list. ' ' '

PHILADELPHIA -- Claude Giroux has put an early-season slump well behind him. Saints Jerseys China . At this rate, the Flyers captain is set to be remembered more for a fantastic finish. Giroux and Jakub Voracek each had two goals, and Michael Raffl and Steve Downie also scored to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 6-4 win over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night. Andrew MacDonald had an assist in his first game since he was acquired from the New York Islanders. The Flyers won for the seventh time in eight games and are second in the Metropolitan Division, far removed from the team that started a franchise-worst 1-7. Giroux didnt score a goal in his first 15 games, but now has 23 in 63 games this season. Giroux and Voracek are hot at the right time. "Theyre the leaders of this team," goalie Steve Mason said. "When they are going, everybody follows." The Flyers chased Washington goalie Braden Holtby after taking a 4-0 lead early in the second period. Holtby was replaced by Philipp Grubauer for the rest of the game -- and could face some competition the rest of the season. The Capitals acquired Jaroslav Halak from Buffalo for backup goalie Michal Neuvirth and defenceman Rostislav Klesla at the NHL trade deadline earlier in the day. Alex Ovechkin, Joel Ward and Troy Brouwer nearly rallied the Capitals with three straight goals in the third. Brooks Laich also scored. "Its not how were supposed to start the game," Ovechkin said. "We just have to play better right away." Giroux continued to put a slow start far behind him as he leads the Flyers resurgence. His goals in each of the first two periods gave him nine in the last 11 games. Perhaps fueled by his Olympic snub, he has nine assists over that span, and has again positioned the Flyers as a tough post-season out. Both teams turned back the clock with a line brawl in the first period that saw Washingtons John Erskine and Philadelphias Vincent Lecavalier get tossed. Philadelphias Luke Schenn drilled Ryan Stoa into the boards, then was confronted by Tom Wilson. Wilson, who earned a 10-minute misconduct, fought Schenn while the rest of the lines went at it near the corner boards. Philadelphias Wayne Simmonds tried to pull off Erskine, allowing Lecavalier to get in a free shot. The crowd went wild and helmets littered the ice during the brawl that finally ended with the Flyers short-handed. The Flyers killed the penalty -- and continued to dominate Washington. After three periods, the Flyers had outshot them 23-8. "There was a lot of emotion the first two periods," Giroux said. "There was a lot of good stuff." The ended the first period up 2-0. Sean Couturier freed the puck after a clean hit on Jack Hillen along the boards, and Giroux pounced for his first goal. Voracek scored less than 2 minutes later on a power-play goal, firing from the top of the circle. Mike Greens turnover early in the second led to Girouxs unassisted goal and Halls fifth goal of the season came on a deflection for a 4-0 lead. That was all for Holtby, who allowed four goals on 18 shots. "We didnt come out with enough to let them know that were here," Capitals coach Adam Oates said. The Capitals, just outside the playoff picture at the moment, nearly pulled off an amazing comeback. Ward made it 4-1, Ovechkin scored his 44th goal after the Flyers failed to clear the puck, and Brouwer fired a perfect pass from Hillen past Mason to make it a one-goal game. The Capitals took 12 shots on goal in the first 11 minutes, forcing Flyers coach Craig Berube to call timeout. Voracek gave the Flyers a needed cushion when he raced down the slot and pounded the puck past Grubauer for the 5-3 lead. Laich deflected the puck past Mason with 6 minutes left in the game to make it 5-4. But they could never score the tying goal. Downie capped the scoring with an empty-netter. Both teams were busy leading up to Wednesdays deadline. The Flyers landed MacDonald and sent defenceman Andrej Meszaros to the Boston Bruins for a 2014 third-round draft choice. Washington made two deals Tuesday, adding left wing Dustin Penner in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks, while shipping forward Martin Erat to Phoenix. NOTES: With Halak unavailable, the Capitals recalled Grubauer from Hershey of the American Hockey League before the game. He had been scheduled to make a personal appearance at a Turkey Hill Mini Market in Lancaster, Pa. ... The Flyers won three of five games in the season series. New Orleans Saints Gear . Cilic cruised to victory, beating the seventh-seeded Seppi 6-1, 6-3 in just 72 minutes. He faced only one break point, winning 24 out of 29 points played on the first serve. New Orleans Saints Store . Vargas (8-3) allowed four singles and two walks while striking out five, allowing only two runners from a diluted Twins lineup to reach second base. Mike Moustakas and Jarrod Dyson hit RBI singles in the second inning against Kevin Correia (4-10), and that was all Vargas needed. https://www.saintsjerseyssale.com/ . More importantly, he is trying to show his young teammates the Colorado are still post-season contenders. He hopes winning a series at home was a fresh start.MANCHESTER, England -- Liverpool underlined its new-found superiority over Manchester United with a humbling 3-0 victory over its great rival on Sunday, virtually ending the beleaguered champions chances of qualifying for the Champions League. On the darkest day of David Moyes tumultuous first season at Old Trafford, United was outclassed as Steven Gerrard converted two penalties -- and missed a third -- and Luis Suarez completed the crushing win with his 25th goal of the campaign. Liverpool moved up to second and within four points of leader Chelsea with a game in hand, and can realistically aim to win a first league title since 1990. "To come here and dominate from start to finish, were still going away slightly disappointed that we didnt score more goals," said Gerrard, whose penalties came in the 34th and 46th minutes. "Weve showed today that we are genuine contenders and we are going to fight to the end for this." While Liverpool capitalized on Chelseas 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Saturday with another effervescent attacking display, United couldnt be at a lower ebb after being humiliated in arguably the biggest match in English football, which was watched by Argentina great Diego Maradona. Their defending was shambolic and reckless -- there could have been more than three penalties awarded -- and Nemanja Vidic was sent off for his second booking in the lead-up to the third spot kick that Gerrard struck against the post in the 78th. Moyes has a massive job to pick his team up in time for Wednesday, when United tries to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit against Olympiakos in the Champions Leagues last 16. That is their final shot at silverware. "Its a nightmare," United striker Wayne Rooney said after the teams fifth home defeat in the league, which left it 12 points off fourth-place Manchester City having played two more games. "Its one of the worst days Ive ever had in football." Liverpool had lost on its previous six visits to Old Trafford and seemingly had an inferiority complex whenever it came to the home of its biggest foe. No more. Brendan Rodgers men were brighter and more courageous on the ball, played at a quicker tempo and were more incisive going forward.. Stitched Saints Jerseys. For the first time in a generation, they were widely seen as favourites for a match at United, even in the opinion of Moyes. It could have been 6-0 or 7-0 by the end as Liverpool ran amok. In the closing stages, with United down to 10 men and having virtually given up, it evoked memories of the 6-1 home loss to Manchester City two seasons ago. Liverpool has gone from finishing 28 points behind United, the champions last season, to being 14 points ahead of them this season. "The biggest thing of where we have come in the last year is belief," Rodgers said. "I was probably surprised before the game when we were supposedly coming to Old Trafford at favourites. I would never say that at Liverpool, even if we were bottom. Anfield is Anfield and we expect to win. We have a mentality that I have been developing that we expect to win." United hadnt had a chance of note by the time Liverpool deservedly went ahead, at the culmination of a disastrous 90 seconds for Rafael da Silva. Soon after earning a yellow card for a reckless lunge at Gerrard, the Brazilian right back was caught out of position from a deep cross from Liverpools right, allowing Suarez to bring the ball down and past Rafael in one touch. Rafael flicked out a hand and gave away a penalty that Gerrard dispatched into the corner with some aplomb. Fans were still filtering back to their seats after halftime when Phil Jones barged into Joe Allen in the area, 23 seconds after the restart. There were no complaints when the referee awarded a penalty and Gerrard found the right corner again, this time low down, for his seventh successful spot kick in 2014. By the middle of the second half, Liverpool was stringing passes together to a soundtrack of "Oles" from the Liverpool visitors. The superiority of the visitors was marked and United was just way off the pace. "Its difficult to explain," Moyes said. It got even worse for Moyes beleaguered side when Vidic was given a second yellow card for bringing down Sturridge in the box in the 77th. Gerrard struck a low effort against the post but Liverpool wasnt to be denied a third, Sturridge slipping a pass through for Suarez to collect and shoot home. ' ' '

San Diego, CA - The San Diego Chargers were able to get some business out of the way prior to their upcoming training camp, with the team agreeing to terms with running back Danny Woodhead on a two-year contract extension through the 2016 season. Fergie Jenkins Jersey . Woodhead, whose 76 receptions in 2013 were the second-most by a running back in the NFL last season, had one year remaining on the original deal he signed with San Diego in March of 2013. The versatile five-year pro put together a strong debut with the Chargers, recording a career-high 605 receiving yards and adding 429 yards on the ground on 106 carries. Woodhead also scored a personal-best eight touchdowns (six receiving, two rushing) and added 262 yards on 12 kick returns. "Danny is an integral part of our offense," said Chargers general manager Tom Telesco. "His work ethic and on-field production were key elements last year. We look forward to having him be a part of the Chargers organization into the future." Woodhead spent three seasons with New England prior to joining the Chargers and was a member of the Patriots 2011 AFC Championship team. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets in 2009. BOSTON -- Golden State didnt need another winning, last-second basket this time. Swen Nater Jersey . The Warriors led by at least 20 points throughout the second half and beat the Boston Celtics 108-88 on Wednesday night, showing no letdown one day after edging the Indiana Pacers on a field goal with 0.6 seconds left. Klay Thompson hit that 12-foot turnaround to beat one of the NBAs best teams, 98-96. Against one of the worst, Thompson and David Lee scored 18 points each as the Warriors ended their road trip with a 4-2 record. "This win validates last night," Thompson said. The Warriors were determined not to ease up against much weaker competition than they faced at Indiana, which has the leagues best home record. "It was big for us," Lee said. "The starters really wanted to come out and set the tone tonight and not give the Celtics team any life." That plan worked. The Warriors scored the first six points and led 12-2 with just over five minutes gone as they moved a season-high 14 games over .500 with a 38-24 record. "I read where if we lost this game then that takes away (Tuesdays win). You cannot forget how tough it is to win games in this league," Golden State coach Mark Jackson said. "Fortunately, we did not fall in love with what we did in Indy." The Celtics (20-41) provided little resistance and lost for the seventh time in eight games. "It was a struggle for us," Boston coach Brad Stevens said. "Id like to find something that I could say we were better in, but there wasnt anything." Former Celtic Jordan Crawford had 15 points and Stephen Curry added 14 for the Warriors, who won for the seventh time in nine games. Kelly Olynyk scored 19 points for Boston. "We dont want to keep embarrassing ourselves and that is the mentality we are going to have," Jeff Green said. Lee started the scoring with an 18-footer and Andre Iguodala followed with a layup and a dunk for a 6-0 lead. Jerryd Bayless then hit a fadeaway jumper for Boston, but Golden State got the next six points on dunks by Curry and Thompson and a layup by Lee. The game was still competitive when Bayless two free throws cut Golden States lead to 42-33 with 5:55 left in the first half. Then Thompsons 3-pointer began a 19-7 run that gave the Warriors a 61-40 lead at halftime. Baskets by Lee and Andrew Bogut made it 49-33 before Rajon Rondo sank a free throw and Jared Sullinger made two for Boston. But then Golden State scored the next six points on a short jumper by Lee, a dunk by Iguodala and a 16-footer by Curry. A 3-pointer by Green cut the margin to 55-38, but Curry followed with a 3-point play. Rondo answered with a layup before Iguodala finished the first-half scoring with a 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining. The sloppy Celtics committed 12 turnovers in the first half, leading to 15 points, while the Warriors turned the ball over just twice, leading to two points. "What hurt us more than maybe anything were the turnovers in the first half that led to the dunks that got those guys going," Stevens said. "I didnt think our effort was great." The Warriors took their biggest lead, 31 points, when two straight baskets by Thompson made it 80-49 with just over five minutes left in the third quarter. "Theyre hitting their stride a little bit," Stevens said. Now the Warriors head home for 13 of their remaining 20 games. "We took care of business on the road," Lee said. "Our thought is we shouldnt lose any more games at home." NOTES: Golden State has 20 road wins, tied with Oklahoma City for second most in the NBA. ... Jackson rested his starters in the fourth quarter. ... Rondo had 14 points and seven assists, but also had seven turnovers. ... Lee had a game-high 10 rebounds, while Bogut blocked three shots. Hes not used to sitting, having missed just five out of 244 possible games dating to the 2010-11 season. "They try to give me a week -- three, four, six," Gasol said when asked of the recovery time Monday night. "I dont care what number they say, I told them as soon as I can put my foot down on the floor and I can walk, Im going to rush it and speed the process." Gasol will be on crutches for three to four weeks before he can even start his work to return. Gasol, the NBAs reigning defensive player of the year, spoke before the Grizzlies played the Houston Rockets, three days after he sprained his medial collateral ligament in a game against San Antonio. He said thaat when he planted on his left foot he "felt the pop," and knew something happened. Lamond Murray Jersey. . There was no contact, and Gasol never went down before limping to the Memphis locker room. He said doctors were pretty sure it was an MCL sprain that night -- a suspicion confirmed by an MRI on Saturday. He said that some of the tissue is "partially torn." Two other Memphis players -- forward Zach Randolph and swingman Quincy Pondexter -- have had similar injuries in recent years. Gasol said he talked to both of them about the recovery. Once he heard no surgery was required, Gasol was ready for the trainers to tape up he knee, put on a brace and let him return to the court. But medical personnel told him the MCL sprain was more serious than he was considering. "They wouldnt listen to me," Gasol said. ' ' '

LOS ANGELES -- Keith Yandle scored the tying goal midway through the third period and Jeff Halpern netted the winner with 3:05 left, leading the Phoenix Coyotes to a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night. D. J. Augustin Jersey . Rob Klinkhammer and Mikkel Boedker scored 63 seconds apart in the first period for the Coyotes, who handed the Kings their third straight loss and took over sole possession of eighth place in the Western Conference. Mike Smith made 36 saves. Marian Gaborik, defenceman Alec Martinez and rookie Tanner Pearson scored for the Kings, who were without captain Dustin Brown for a second straight game because of a lower body injury. Jonathan Quick stopped 23 shots for Los Angeles, which fell to 21-1 when leading after two periods. Yandle tied it with a slap shot from just inside the blue line after he intercepted defenceman Matt Greenes attempted clearing pass from behind the net. Greene was a healthy scratch in the previous eight games. Halpern put Phoenix ahead 4-3 with a shot from the left circle that appeared to carom off Quicks glove and then the post before it bounced to Coyotes captain Shane Doan for another point blank shot that Quick stopped with a sprawling save. But an overhead replay showed that Halperns shot crossed the goal line before it hit Quicks stick. Quick missed a chance to tie Rogie Vachons franchise record of 171 wins. Darryl Sutter will also have to wait for his 500th regular-season victory as an NHL coach. Yandle leads Phoenix with 49 points, including an assist on Boedkers goal. The Kings outshot Phoenix 15-2 in the second period, turning a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead. Gaborik got the puck in the low slot from Anze Kopitar and took a shot that glanced off defenceman Derek Morris stick and over Smiths glove. It was his eighth goal this season and second in six games since he was acquired from Columbus on Feb. 5. Smith, who leads in games played, starts, saves and shots faced, withstood an early barrage from the Kings before the Coyotes took a 2-0 lead. Klinkhammer scored his 11th goal on a rebound at 6:33, and Boedker added his 17th during a power play. The Kings got within 2-1 when Pearson, in his third stint with the club this season, scored his second goal in 14 NHL games at 17:02 of the first. Los Angeles tied it at 6:50 of the second with Martinezs eighth goal. Phoenixs Martin Hanzal, who returned after missing seven games with a lower-body injury, assisted on Klinkhammers goal. Tied with both sixth-ranked Baylor and ninth-ranked Kansas State (facing off against each other later in the day) at the top of the Big 12 standings with a record of 7-1, the Horned Frogs are aiming to claim the conference crown. Since losing a wild shootout against the Bears in Waco the second week of October, 61-58, TCU has rattled off six straight victories. The latest win for the Frogs came on Nov. 27 in a lopsided 48-10 final versus Texas. The team has now reached 10 wins in a season for the fifth time in the last seven seasons and ninth time in 13 campaigns under Gary Patterson. As for the Cyclones, they are the ones who have been blown away by the competition, winning a total of just two games against the likes of Iowa (20-17) and Toledo (37-30). Since the victory versus the Rockets on the same day that TCU fell to Baylor, Iowa State has dropped five straight outings. The latest of those failed attempts came last weekend versus West Virginia, 37-24, at home, dropping ISU to 0-8 in conference play this season. In terms of the all-time series between these two programs, TCU has won four of the previous five matchups. In Big 12 meetings, theyve split a pair of contests, with Iowa State posting a 37-23 victory over the Frogs in 2012, while TCU rebounded with a 21-17 decision in Ames last season. At home against the enigmatic Mountaineers, Iowa State led 21-7 in the second quarter before everything fell apart and eventually the Cyclones absorbed the double-digit setback. The hosts ran 11 more plays than WVU, but generated only 410 yards of offense, compared to 570 for the Mountaineers. Quarterback Sam Richardson converted 26-of-50 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns, but he was also intercepted twice and sacked three times. Tad Ecby and Aaron Wimberly both caught TD passes and the latter also scored once on the ground as he posted a team-best 77 rushing yards. They brought some different pressures, said Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads of the WVU defense. When you are looking at a team that has three down linemen and the ability to bring multiple blitzes from a lot of different places, you identify your protection and set everything. We were good to a point and they adjusted to that, and then we had to adjust at halftime to compensate for that. Defensively, against a backup quarterback the Cyclones were unable to come up with even a single sack and had just two tackles for loss overall, as well as two fumble recoveries in the setback. Sacks have been a rarity for the most part this season for the Cyclones, although Cory Morrissey seems to have gotten the hang of it with six ssuch tackles, while the rest of the roster has combined for only eight sacks. Wes Iwundu Jersey. Opponents have rung up twice as many sacks (28) over the 11 games played. Surrendering 511.4 ypg, ranking the program 120th in the nation this week, it should come as little surprise that ISU is 113th in the FBS in points allowed as well at 37.4 ppg. Trying to balance the scales is Richardson with his 57.9 percent accuracy and 251.7 ypg through the air. He has tossed 18 touchdowns against eight interceptions, with his most productive target being E.J. Bibbs with eight TDs on 45 catches through 10 appearances, but he is still listed as questionable for this weekend due to a knee injury. In front of an announced crowd of more than 96,000, the Horned Frogs completely dominated Texas as they extended their streak of consecutive games scoring at least 30 points to 13 in a row, the longest run in the nation. All phases of the game got involved in the scoring for TCU, beginning with quarterback Trevone Boykin who threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the visitors pulled away in the fourth quarter with four TDs. With the tradition that they have here (in Texas), its big for us, Boykin said of the statement win. We have the chance to prove ourselves, and we try to do that every time we go out there. During that final period, Josh Carraway returned an interception 33 yards for a TD, the second defensive score by the program on the night after Terrell Lathan brought back a fumble 40 yards for a score as well. Early on in the meeting the TCU offense stalled prematurely, and kicker Jaden Oberkrom came to the rescue with field goals of 42 and 29 yards. The Frogs forced six turnovers in the contest, with two interceptions coming from Sam Carter, while Marcus Mallet caused some major disruptions with 3.5 TFL and a forced fumble. I dont know if it set the tone or not but we knew, get on and off, give our offense more opportunities, Carter said of the forced turnovers. Those guys can score at any time, so the more times they get the ball, the better they are. Heading into action this week, the Horned Frogs are ranked second in the nation in turnover margin at plus-1.64 and all of those positive miscues have helped the offense to reach 46.1 ppg, third-best in the FBS. The defense may not carry the same hallmark as previous Patterson groups, in terms of yards allowed (370.7 ypg, 45th) and passing yards permitted (250.6 ypg, 92nd), but having a dominant offense helps to cover up those deficiencies. However, when it counts the most, the Frogs are there to shut down foes, allowing them to convert on just 29.6 percent of their third-down attempts. TCU is also 11th in the country in allowing first downs, so while there may be yards to earn against the Horned Frogs, the team still minimizes the impact as well as any squad in the country. ' ' '
