TOKYO -- The Czech Republic advanced to the semifinals of the Davis Cup on Saturday, beating Japan in the doubles match to give the defending champions an insurmountable 3-0 lead. Andrew Toney Jersey . Radek Stepanek and Lukas Rosol backed up their wins in Fridays singles by combining to beat Tatsuma Ito and Yasutaka Uchiyama 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 at Ariake Colisseum. "This was our first Davis Cup doubles together," Stepanek said. "We did well and found our range together. We had it under control from the first set." The reverse singles matches are played on Sunday. The Czech Republic will play the winner of the quarterfinal match between France and Germany in the last four in September. Both teams were without their top players. Tomas Berdych sat out following two tough tournaments in the United States, while Kei Nishikori was sidelined after hurting his groin in a quarterfinal victory over Roger Federer in the Sony Open in Miami last week. The meeting between Japan and the Czech Republic is the first since 1935 and third in total. The nations split their two previous matches that were both played in Prague, with Japan winning the first in 1930. Mike Scott Jersey . 2015 Oscar nomination pending. After two months of mediocrity, perhaps the Washington Nationals have turned the page. Strasburg struck out 11 in seven innings Wednesday night and the Nationals kept the Philadelphia Phillies bats quiet yet again in an 8-4, rain-interrupted win.AUGUSTA, Ga. -- If youre looking for someone not to pick at this years Masters, go with Ryan Moore. By winning the Par 3 tournament, he surely sealed his fate. After all, no one has ever taken the just-for-fun prelude Wednesday and gone on to collect a green jacket Sunday evening. Then again, if there was ever a year to break with tradition, this might be it. Tiger Woods is on the sidelines. A bunch of brash Augusta rookies are eager to fill his shoes. And the last two dozen majors have been divvied up among 21 winners. Good luck making sense of it all with the Masters beginning Thursday. "You never know," Moore said, savoring his two-stroke victory on the picturesque nine-hole course tucked away in a corner of Augusta National. "Someone has got to break that (Par 3) curse at some point in time, so hopefully its me. Who knows? I might go shoot 8 under or something, make a couple of hole-in-ones." As unlikely as that sounds, pretty much everything else is up for grabs at this Masters. Recovering from back surgery, Woods is sitting out the opening major of the year for the first time since turning pro. Even as his dominance waned in recent years, he was always the clear-cut favourite coming into Augusta, where he has won four times. Now, as Moore said, who knows? Jason Day, Sergio Garcia and former Masters champion Zach Johnson are the only players from the top 10 who have won anywhere in the world this year. Only one of the past seven winners on the PGA Tour was ranked in the top 75. "I think if youre outside the top 50 in the world this week, youve got a great chance," U.S. Open champion Justin Rose said with a laugh. Woods is out of golf until the summer, but the show goes on at a tournament that rarely fails to deliver plenty of drama. "We miss Tiger, as does the entire golf world," Masters chairman Billy Payne said. "Nevertheless, this is the Masters. This is what we hope is the best tournament in the world, one of the greatest sporting events. And I think we will have a very impressive audience and have another great champion to crown this year." That could be Phiil Mickelson, who last year won the British Open at age 42 and now has a chance to join Woods and Arnold Palmer with a fourth green jacket. Maurice Cheeks Jersey. It could be Adam Scott, trying to take over as the worlds No. 1 player and join Woods, Nick Faldo and Jack Nicklaus as the only back-to-back winners. While Woods last won a green jacket in 2005, he had finished out of the top six only once since then. Thats what made him such a compelling figure at Augusta. He always seemed to be there. "Its a huge loss," Scott said. "But, as every year here, this event produces something special no matter what. It just has a way of doing it. Its not going to involve Tiger this year, but it will involve someone else and it will be a memorable event anyway." Rose falls on the side of experience -- knowing where to miss, knowing where you cant afford to miss, where the hole locations tend to be on the contoured greens and using the slope to get the ball close. "Always you can have the unknowns," he said. "But I would say 15 guys are pretty strong favourites." Fuzzy Zoeller was the last Augusta rookie to claim the green jacket in 1979, and the only other ones to do it were the first two: Horton Smith and Gene Sarazen. Then again, there are 24 first-timers in the 98-player field, a record (except for the first tournament), and none of them will concede an insurmountable learning curve. Besides, no one is dominating golf at the moment. Jimmy Walker has the most PGA Tour wins (three) this season, but this is his first Masters. Scott had a chance to go to No. 1 three weeks ago at Bay Hill, but he lost a three-shot lead in the final round to Matt Every, who had never won in his career. "Doesnt matter if youve played here once or if youve played here 50 times," said Patrick Reed, who has won three times in the past eight months. "When it comes down to it, its just going to be that whoever is playing the best is going to walk away with the trophy." Who knows? Maybe it will be Moore. Hes certainly not fretting over a supposed curse. "Im not afraid of it," he said. ' ' '

TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays acquired outfielder Michael Saunders from the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday in exchange for left-hander J. Fake USA Soccer Jerseys .A. Happ in a deal that essentially closes the door on the possibility of free agent Melky Cabrera returning to the team. The deal was the latest move by Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos in what has been a busy off-season. He recently dealt longtime first baseman Adam Lind to the Milwaukee Brewers, acquired star third baseman Josh Donaldson in a trade with the Oakland Athletics and signed catcher Russell Martin to a lucrative long-term deal. Saunders, a 28-year-old Victoria native, is expected to be the everyday left-fielder for the Blue Jays. We like the fact that Saunders can play all three outfield spots if needed, we think hes going to play an above-average defensive left field, Anthopoulos said. (Hes) a left-handed bat, which is appealing as well (and) can steal a base - hes stolen 21 bases before. We think he has some power in going from that ballpark (Safeco Field) to ours. He can unlock some things in our lineup as well and the two years of (team) control is nice too. Saunders, who was selected by the Mariners in the 11th round of the 2004 draft, hit .273 with eight homers and 34 RBIs in 78 games last season. He spent parts of six seasons in Seattle but battled injuries this year, including joint inflammation in his right shoulder and a strained left oblique. Hes always been a productive player and a big part of that is he brings so much with his defence and his base-running that hes always going to provide value to the club, Anthopoulos said. From an offensive standpoint I think the expectations have always been high, because hes a five-tool player, he can do everything and sometimes that isnt fair. Were not placing those expectations on him to hit in the middle of our lineup, to carry the offensive load. ... The way we see it, hes a guy who played 139 games in 2012, 132 games in 2013, obviously missed time this year but he did hit 19 home runs in 2012 and still had a pretty solid OPS in 12 and 13 in that ballpark. ... If we got the Michael Saunders from 12 and 13 wed be very, very pleased. Happ was uneven over parts of three seasons in Toronto, but had a solid second half to the 2014 campaign. He was 11-11 on the year with a 4.22 earned-run average over 158 innings. His departure improves Aaron Sanchezs chances of making the starting rotation. Hes going to be stretched out in spring training, but it certainly has increased his odds, Anthopoulos said. But hes still going to have to earn a spot right now, depending on what else we might do. Sanchez, a 22-year-old right-hander, was brilliant out of the bullpen in his first season with the Blue Jays. He was 2-2 with a 1.09 ERA in 24 appearances, striking out 27 batters and issuing nine walks. Cabrera, meanwhile, declined the Blue Jays US$15.3-million qualifying offer last month to test the free-agent market. There was interest in a potential return but the two sides were too far apart on contract talks. Cabrera hit .301 in 139 games last season with 16 homers and 73 RBIs. He missed the last few weeks of the season due to a fractured finger. Anthopoulos still has plenty of work to do. The bullpen will now likely get his full attention and he could still use an upgrade at second base. Also Wednesday, the Blue Jays signed first baseman Justin Smoak to a US$1-million, one-year contract, a day after he was non-tendered by the team. Smoak was acquired Oct. 28 off waivers from the Mariners. Toronto also agreed to terms with centre-fielder Ezequiel Carrera on a minor-league deal with an invitation to major-league spring training. Notes: The Blue Jays have added an exhibition game against the Canadian national junior team to their pre-season schedule. A Toronto split-squad will face the juniors March 15 at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. ... The Toronto chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America unveiled its 2014 award winners Wednesday. Slugger Jose Bautista was a unanimous choice for player of the year. Right-hander Mark Buehrle was pitcher of the year, right-hander Marcus Stroman was rookie of the year and Cabrera was named most improved player. Right-hander Casey Janssen was the winner of the John Cerutti Award, given to the person who exemplifies goodwill, co-operation and character. Wholesale USA Soccer Jerseys . The Oilers have been shut out in three straight home games and are in last place in the Western Conference with a 4-14-2 record. "Things have obviously not gone as well as I would have thought probable. ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Oakland Raiders got some good news in free agency Thursday, one day after voiding top target Rodger Saffolds contract because of a bad shoulder. The Raiders signed defensive end Justin Tuck and linebacker LaMarr Woodley to two-year deals in an effort to bolster their pass rush. ESPN reported that Tuck will be paid $11 million and Woodleys deal is worth up to $12 million. The two pass rushers have combined for 117.5 career sacks, reached double figures in a season seven times and have won three Super Bowl titles in their careers. Tuck joins the Raiders following nine seasons with the New York Giants during which he helped the team win two Super Bowl titles. Tuck has made two Pro Bowls and has 60.5 career sacks, 20 forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries in 127 career games with New York. "Last week, I absolutely did not see it coming," Tuck said. "It wasnt necessarily on my radar at that point in time, but everything accelerated pretty quickly, and Im excited. I really am. I like the direction that this team is talking about going in, and I just want to be a part of it." Woodley, 29, had 57 sacks in seven seasons in Pittsburgh and helped the Steelers win it all following the 2008 season. Woodley struggled with injuries the past three seasons but was still an effective rusher when healthy. He ended last season on injured reserve with a calf injury and the Steelers released him because of his high salary. After averaging 11 sacks per season from 2008-11, Woodley has only nine sacks in 24 games the past two years. He did have eight quarterback hits and 24 hurries and was one of the most efficient pass rushers last season, according to Pro Football Focus. Woodley played linebacker in Pittsburghs 3-4 defence but is also able to play defensive end in Oaklands four-man front. The Raiders need help on their pass rush after losing last years leading sacker and most consistent defender, LaMarr Houston, to Chicago in free agency. The other three starting defensive linemen -- Pat Sims, Vance Walker and Jason Hunter -- are also free agents. Tuck, who turns 31 this month, was rated as the ninth best pass rushing defensive eend by Pro Football Focus last season when he had 11 sacks, 12 quarterback hits and 44 hurries. Darlington Nagbe Jersey. Oakland has not had a player reach double figures in sacks since Derrick Burgess and Warren Sapp both did it in 2006. "Everyone talks about once you turn 30, its all downhill," Tuck said. "I dont believe in that. I dont look at myself in that regard. I feel like I have a lot of great football left in me." The Raiders have now made three free-agent additions this week, having previously signed right tackle Austin Howard to a five-year, $30 million deal. Running back Darren McFadden also agreed to re-sign with the Raiders on a one-year deal worth up to $4 million. Saffold was expected to be in the mix before the Raiders were scared off because of a shoulder injury and voided the five-year, $42.5 million contract that included $21.5 million in guarantees. Howard and Saffold were supposed to help anchor a rebuilt offensive line but now Oakland still needs to look for a left tackle to replace the departed Jared Veldheer. "We were excited about maybe getting the chance to play together," Howard said. "But thats the way this business works. Hes a tremendous guy, a tremendous athlete. I believe he really would have fit in well here and we would have been really excited to play together. Thats how it goes. Its very unfortunate." Oakland was burned last off-season by the acquisition of two players with existing injuries. Quarterback Matt Flynn was acquired despite a shoulder injury and he lacked arm strength before being released early in the season. Oakland used a first-round pick on cornerback D.J. Hayden, who had a near-fatal heart injury in college. Hayden missed the entire off-season and was limited in training camp because of the injury and struggled his rookie year before a sports hernia injury sidelined him for the season in November. The Raiders could fill the left tackle void with last years second-round pick, Menelik Watson, who played sparingly as a rookie because of injuries, a draft pick or with a second-tier free agent after most of the top available left tackles have signed elsewhere. Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca. With the 2014 Hockey Hall of Fame Induction festivities about to take place this weekend, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to share a memory or two. A number of times I had the good fortune to receive the assignment to work the Hall of Fame Game played between the Toronto Maple Leafs and their respective opponent. I always felt emotions well up from deep within that were spawned from childhood recollections as previously enshrined members; some from generations long since removed, were marched onto the red carpet prior to the new class being presented. Each time I set foot inside the Hockey Hall of Fame I am overcome with knee-trembling awe at the accomplishments of the membership and the history of the great game of hockey that we all love. I am grateful for the opportunity to have skated on NHL ice with some of the greatest players the game has known for three decades; including my association with the current crop of inductees. Their talent, individual records and tremendous contribution to the game are common knowledge. You might be surprised to learn that my first thought at hearing Peter Forsbergs name is not about all of his awards and the tremendous skill or the brute power he demonstrated; a guy that could throw a reverse hit like no other as he was about to be checked while maintaining full possession of the puck. No, my thoughts centred on his well-documented ankle and foot problems that ended his comeback attempt as a 37-year-old with the Colorado Avalanche after playing two games in 2010-11. The reason for this is I attempted to walk in the mans skates and as a result I am truly amazed at how Peter could achieve such an amazing career. In September of 1996, I flew to Stockholm, Sweden with linesmen Ray Scapinello and Dan Schachte to officiate the European preliminary round of the World Cup of Hockey. We connected through London Heathrow where a broken baggage conveyor belt prevented thousands of bags from moving on to their final destination. My colleagues were fortunate enough to find their equipment bags on the conveyer in Stockholm while mine remained stranded in London. Dag Olsen, referee-in-chief of the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation, made a call to the Swedish team trainer to arrange alternate skates and equipment. I arrived at the Globe Arena two hours prior to game time and was given a pair of skates my size. After lacing up and stepping on the ice my right skate turned so severely inward that I almost fell over. I only ventured 10 feet from the players bench door to recognize I couldnt navigate in Forsbergs skates that were formed to his foot malady. I was forced to use Olsens ancient tube skates. I saw Peter as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers; along with their medical and training staff exhaust all options to devise a solution to this real foot problem. All the while, you as fans were treated to his amazing skills with little or no knowledge of the magnitude of what he had to overcome. Dominik Hasek was appropriately tagged The Dominator for preventing pucks from entering his net by whatever means it took; including his head. Doms goaltending style was beyond unorthodox and during his many elite years, he stopped pucks better than any other goalie in the game. In 1998, I travelled to Nagano to work the Winter Olympics. My wife Kathy was joining me in Japan prior to the medal round. A few games into the preliminaries Kathy asked, in a phone conversation, which teams I thought looked good. Cheap Golden Knights Jerseys. While the Canadian team had received most of the advance hype, much to her surprise I told Kathy the Czechs looked like the team to beat. Reason being, teams just couldnt put the puck past Hasek! Kathy and I were seated in the first row of the lower balcony with a contingent of NHL dignitaries preparing to watch the gold medal game between Russia and Czechoslovakia. A very low railing provided minimal safety for anyone from falling over the balcony if they were to stumble on the steep steps. Chicago Blackhawks owner Bill Wirtz was about to settle into the seat beside me when the large man stumbled and was about to go over the rail. I grabbed Mr. Wirtz by the belt and yanked hard to deposit him into his seat. The Hawks owner was surprised to see that it was me that saved him from a dangerous, if not tragic fall. The former Chairman of the NHL Board of Governors then solicited my opinion as to who I thought was going to win the game for the gold. I shared that the Czech team looked very tough to beat. Turns out that was good news for Mr. Wirtz, as he told me he laid a substantial bet in Vegas on the Czech team to win. The reason was that he gambled against Hasek once before when his Hawks traded him. He wasnt going to make the same mistake and bet against The Dominator again. Led by the brilliant goaltending of Hasek, the Czech team shut out the Russians to win the gold medal. On this solemn day of November 11 as we honor our veterans; past, present and future, I cant help but pay tribute to the memory of Pat Burns; a great coach and an even better man. In doing so I must share a valuable perspective that I gained from a non-hockey person in Boston one day. On the morning of a Bruins game I attended the weekday, morning mass at a chapel inside the Copley Square Mall. Following mass the Priest, who correctly assumed I was an out-of-town guest, engaged me in conversation to find out where I was from and the nature of my visit to Boston. When I informed him I was there to work the Bruins game, the priest told he was in charge of the Seminary and had several hockey fans in his charge! I arranged to have four seminarians as my guest at the Bruins game that evening. In reciprocation, I was invited to attend lunch at the Seminary; an invitation I was thrilled to accept. One of the young seminarians was a devout hockey nut from Michigan who was almost out of his skin with enthusiasm at having me join them for lunch and to be going to the Bruins game that evening. After the blessing, the Michigan lad was animated in telling his colleagues all about the officiating career of Kerry Fraser and how I was a future Hall of Famer! Sitting across the table from me was a very polite, meek young seminarian from Nebraska who didnt know a hockey stick from a corn stalk. The aspiring priest looked me in the eye and said, Mr. Fraser, I dont mean any disrespect but theres only one Hall of Fame that I want to be inducted into, as the young seminarian looked skyward and pointed toward Heaven. I laughed and said a big, Amen to that my Brother! Following the festivities this weekend, I know without a doubt Pat Burns will have been inducted into both Hall of Fames. God bless you and your family Pat. I wish to congratulate each of the class of 2014 inductees on their career accomplishments and the great honour being bestowed upon them this coming weekend. ' ' '

He showed terrific downhill running ability playing with Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers. What They Got: Needing a feature running back, the Texans handed Green a four-year $23 million contract. Plagued by injuries Green had just 260 rushing yards in his first season with the Texans and 294 in his second. He was cut after two seasons with the team. 9. CB Larry Brown – Oakland Raiders What they saw: Brown and the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17 in Super Bowl XXX. Brown had two interceptions for the Cowboys and was the first corner ever to be named Super Bowl MVP. What they got: After the Super Bowl, Brown hit the open market and was given a five-year $12 million deal from the Raiders. Brown was released after just two seasons with the team, he had just one interception in 12 games. 8. WR David Boston – San Diego Chargers What they saw: Boston missed half of the 2002 season, but had posted a 1,500 yard season in 2001, which was enough to create a market for him in free-agency. What they got: The Chargers signed Boston to a seven-year $47 million contract in 2003. In his first season with the team he caught 70 balls for 880 yards and seven touchdowns. Despite decent production, Boston clashed with his coaching staff and traded to Miami prior to the 2004 season. He lasted two seasons with the Dolphins. 7. CB/KR Deion Sanders – Washington Redskins What they saw: One of the most exciting players in football. Primetime was a shutdown corner and ace kick/ punt returner with the Cowboys, he even spent time at wide receiver. Sanders Dallas highlight reel is as diverse as any player of you will ever see. What they got: The Redskins signed Sanders to a seven- year $56 million contract with an $8 million signing bonus in 2000. What they got was the 33-year-old version Sanders, who was a shell of his former electric self. Sanders had four interceptions on defence and no return touchdowns in 16 games. After the season Primetime announced his retirement (he would later return in 2004 with the Baltimore Ravens, but thats a different story). 6. QB Neil ODonnell - New York Jets What they saw: ODonnell appeared to be a solid starter with the Steelers, he posted 37-16 record in his previous four seasons and 17 touchdowns to seven interceptions in his final season with the club. What they got: The Jets released Boomer Esiason after the 1995 season and went after their next franchise quarterback, ODonnell. They signed him to a five-year $25 million deal. Things didnt go well for ODonnell in his first season with the Jets, he went 0-6 with four touchdowns and seven interceptions. He went 8-6 the next season with 17 touchdowns and seven picks, however the Jets decided he wasnt their man and cut him after just two years. 5. WR Javon Walker – Oakland Raiders What they saw: A wide receiver, who, when healthy, could create mismatches and get deep for their divisional rival, Denver Broncos. What they got: The Raiders believed signing Walker to a six-year $55 million contract in 2008 was a win-win; he boosted their passing attack and weakened the Broncos. Walker, however didnt add much to their passing attack, appearing in eight games Walker caught 15 passes for 196 yards and one touchdown. Walker appeared in just three games for the Raiders in the following season, catching no passes. Cheap Shoes Replica. He was released after that abysmal season. 4. WR Andre Rison - Cleveland Browns What they saw: Rison entered free agency with 5,633 receiving yards and 56 touchdowns in his last five seasons, he was seen a proven receiver. What they got: “Bad moon” Rison, one of the greatest nicknames of all-time, which, apparently, was worth $17 million over five years. Rison had just 47 catches for 701 yards in first season and the relocating-Browns released the wide receiver. He registered a 1,000 yard season just once in his final five NFL seasons. 3. QB Jake Delhomme - Carolina Panthers/ Cleveland Browns What the Panthers saw: In 2008, Delhomme went 12-4 with 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in the regular season. However, Delhomme had a brutal playoff performance against the Arizona Cardinals, when he threw five interceptions and just one touchdown as the Panthers were blown out 33-13. What they got: Despite not being a free-agent, the Panthers were sure Delhomme was their man and decided to prove it with a five-year $42 million contract with $20 million guaranteed. Unfortunately the Delhomme the Panthers saw in the playoffs was there to stay. He threw eight touchdowns and 18 interceptions in 11 games in 2009, he was benched and eventually released after the season. Browns tenure: Despite seeing Delhommes struggles in Carolina, the Browns decided to sign the quarterback in free agency in 2010. The Browns signed Delhomme to a two-year deal, worth $7 million in his first season. In that season, Delhomme battled an ankle injury and went 2-2 appearing in just five games. He threw two touchdowns and seven interceptions that season. Once the season was finished the Browns cut Delhomme. Between the money owed to him by the Panthers and money made from the Browns, Delhomme made $19.7 million in 2010. 2. S Adam Archuleta – Washington Redskins What they saw: Archuleta was coming off five seasons as a starter with the St. Louis Rams where he had 13 sacks, three interceptions and 304 tackles. What they got: The Redskins signed Archuleta to a seven-year $35 million contract with $10 million guaranteed in 2006, he instantly became the highest paid safety in the NFL. Unfortunately for the Redskins, Archuleta was not the playmaker they had hoped for. He only started seven games for the Redskins in 2006, not because he wasnt healthy, because he benched. After the season the Redskins traded him for a sixth-round pick and, an agreement to restructure his contract. 1. DT Albert Haynesworth – Washington Redskins What they saw: Haynesworth was one of the most dominant defenders in the NFL when he hit free agency in 2009. He was coming off two straight All-Pro team selections and was due for a monster deal. What they got: He got that deal from the Redskins. Haynesworth signed a seven-year $100 million contract with $41 million guaranteed. Haynesworth was a major disappointment in his first season, he registered just four sacks and was suspended by the team for the final month of the season. In 2010, Haynesworth showed up to training camp out of shape played in just eight games, starting none. He registered a career-low 13 tackles and just 2.5 sacks. After the season the Redskins traded Haynesworth to the New England Patriots for a fifth-round pick. The Patriots waived him during the season. After his time with the Redskins, head coach Mike Shannahan said Haynesworth was "lazy, lacking character and lacking passion." ' ' '

ies in 1996, the year they lost to Colorado in t

First time for everything! I had the pleasure of calling the BC Lions vs. China Jerseys For Cheap . Calgary Stampeders game with Gord Miller on TSN on Friday night. You know, its always good to get Out of the Cage, so to speak, and take in the sights and sounds at the ballpark. What caught my eye on the night was the amount of firsts that took place. Ill be honest with yall, at times during that game, it probably sounded like it was my first crack at doing colour commentary. Ha! I made a few mistakes but had fun once again trying to help you enjoy the game. Here are some of the firsts I noticed: 1. Lions quarterback Kevin Glenn wins for the first time on the road in McMahon Stadium against the Stampeders. You better believe that when an athlete has not experienced success against a particular team or in a certain venue or against a rival, they know when something like that is going on. For the first six seasons of my my career, I could never get a W while playing against the Toronto Argonauts at Exhibition Stadium! Thank goodness that place shut down and the Argos moved into the SkyDome! In fact, I played so consistently poor at Exhibition, Leo Cahill once said, Dunigan could throw the football at the ground and miss. Thats classic! Hence, the story I told on national television, for the first time, about me once eating chocolate covered espresso beans with my offensive linemen before a game at Exhibition, trying to mix things up a bit in an attempt to change my luck at that horrible stadium. Ha! For those of you who didnt hear me Friday night, things did not go well in the first half of this game. I was chunking, whizzing, riffling balls all over the place. Missing receivers not by a little, but by five, six, seven yards. Shooting it way over their heads, into the stands, it was not pretty! If there was ever anyone who did not need extra hype, energy or adrenaline before a game, it was me. I can assure you that was the first and last time for this guy, as the lesson was learned! 2. Stampeders running back Martell Mallett rushes the football for the first time in 1,429 days. The last time Mallett (aka. Cognac) carried the ball was for the Philadelphia Eagles during an NFL preseason game against the New York Jets on Sep. 2, 2010. With 116 rushing yards on 14 carries, it was also Malletts first 100-yard game since Sep. 25, 2009. On that night, Mallett was playing for the visiting Lions at McMahon Stadium. Different jersey, same dynamic performance! 3. Lions receiver Ernest Jackson earns his first touchdown catch of the season, blowing by Calgarys Brandon Smith and taking it 65 yards for the game winner. 4. On the defensive side of the ball, Lions LB Solomon Elimimian racked up 10 tackles, making it the first time hes had 10+ tackles in back-to-back games. Last week, Elimimian tied a career-high with 12 tackles vs. Winnipeg. 5. Lions first-year cornerback Ronnie Yell from San Jose State gets his first interception of his CFL career and its a 34-yard pick six! 6. On that very play, Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell throws his first pick of the 2014 season! For those keeping track, that was also Mitchells first interception after going 142 pass attempts without one since Sep. 13, 2013 vs. Hamilton! 7. Keon Raymond, strong side linebacker for the Stampeders, gets his first pick of the year and takes it 63 yards for the score. It was his first pick six since Oct. 20, 2012, when he took one back 100 yards vs. Hamilton. 8. Bo Levi Mitchell loses for the first time as a starter in his young CFL career. 9. Stampeders lose for the first time this season. 10. Shane Bergman, left guard for the Stampeders, made his first-ever career start and acquitted himself quite well. This considering he was up against two of the best defensive lineman in the CFL, Eric Taylor and Khalif Mitchell. Those were some of the firsts that played out on a beautiful Friday night in Calgary, Alberta. If you missed it, thats too bad, because these firsts will never happen again! Ready Break!!! China Made Jerseys . In the other Group A game, the Czech Republic stunned Canada, 5-4 in a shootout. Dominik Simon scored the deciding goal in the tiebreaker. The United States scored its first three goals on power plays. "Overall, I love to see the power-play goals we were able to get tonight," said U. China Jerseys Quality .com) - Demario Richard posted four touchdowns and Kweishi Brown came up with a key late interception as No. http://www.chinajerseyspaypal.com/ . In taking its goal tally to 99 in all competitions already this season, City delivered another demonstration of its lethal firepower at Etihad Stadium to set up a fourth-round match at home to another second-tier team -- Watford.SUNRISE, Fla. -- With a relatively young team, Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon is of the belief that the club needs an experienced coach behind the bench. And with that, Peter Horacheks time as interim coach is over. The Panthers fired Horachek on Tuesday, after Florida went 26-36-4 under him this past season. Horachek had no previous NHL coaching experience before replacing Kevin Dineen on Nov. 8 and while Tallon lauded the interim coachs work with the club, he simply thinks that a change in direction is needed. "We just felt as a group that it wasnt quite the right fit with the direction that were headed in," Tallon said. Tallon said theres no timetable for finding a new coach, other than that the team wants to make a hire before the draft in late June. He said Peter Laviolette -- who was fired by the Philadelphia Flyers after only three games of this season -- is on his list of candidates, and theres also speculation that he could target former Nashville coach Barry Trotz. "Were going to interview every possible candidate and take our time and make the right decision," Tallon said. Horachek had been the coach of Floridas AHL affiliate in San Antonio before being summoned to lead the Panthers. Tallon said Horachek will not remain with the organization in any capacity. The team will urge the next coach to keep assistant coaches John Madden and Brian Skrudland, both of whom Tallon has in high regard. Horacheks fate was decided in the last few days and he accepted the move when told Tuesday in a "classy" manner, Tallon said. The coaching decision is one of many changes for the Panthers in recent months, with more moves coming. The team was bought last fall by New York businessman Vincent Viola, had a change in the executive ranks when Michael Yormark left as team president earlier this year, and the Panthers brought back longtime fan favourite Roberto Luongo late in this season. Plus, the team has sttockpiled plenty of picks in the next two drafts and won the right to draft No. China Jerseys NFL Authentic. 1 overall this year. "Were not starting over," Tallon said. "Weve got a lot of young players on our team now, well have a few more added each year as we move forward and now we have to surround them with the right NHL players and pieces that we will attack in free agency or by trading some of these assets that we have." The Panthers have had seven different coaches in their last 10 seasons, with Dineen the only one in the group to take Florida to the playoffs. And the next coach will be Tallons third since he took over in Florida. Hes hoping history repeats itself with this move. Tallon was most recently the GM in Chicago and his third coach there was Joel Quenneville -- who led the Blackhawks to Stanley Cup titles in 2010 and 2013. "It took me three in Chicago to get it right," Tallon said. "So its not an easy task. Its all about getting it right. Yeah, its important. Thats why were going to take our time and really investigate and interview various candidates and do our homework and try to get the right fit." Florida finished with the second-lowest point total in the NHL this season and missed the playoffs for the 12th time in 13 seasons. The Panthers last won a playoff series in 1996, the year they lost to Colorado in the Stanley Cup finals. "He did a good job," Tallon said of Horachek. "He came in a worked hard and tried to turn things around in a hurry." Florida ranked 29th in the 30-team NHL in goals scored this season, plus were abysmal on special teams. The Panthers ranked last in the league with a 10 per cent power-play success rate -- the worst percentage posted by any team since 2000-01 -- along with a 76 per cent penalty-kill rate. The Panthers were out of the playoff race early once again, finishing 27 points out of the eighth and last post-season spot in the Eastern Conference. ' ' '

p into the ballgame," Masterson said. "I think weve all had glimps

The Buffalo Bills wont be coming north this season. David West Jersey . The NFL club and Rogers Communications announced Wednesday theyve put the beleaguered Bills Toronto Series -- which features Buffalo playing exhibition and regular-season games at Rogers Centre -- on hold for at least a year. That means the team will play eight home games at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y., for the first time since 2007. "The plan is to postpone it for one year, regroup and determine whats the next best step," said Keith Pelley, the president of Rogers Communications media division. "Its not nullified right now, we have an agreement in place. "Anything is possible but thats not the plan. The plan is to take a step back and say, OK, the Series is having some challenges, the NFL is still big in Toronto, its still important to the Bills so whats the best way to move forward?" The decision comes a little more than a year after the Bills and Rogers agreed to renew the series for five years, though 2017 after the original five-year deal expired. A series-low gathering of 38,969 watched the Atlanta Falcons nip Buffalo 34-31 in overtime Dec. 1 at Rogers Centre, which can seat 54,000 spectators for football. The loss dropped the Bills regular-season record in Toronto to a dismal 1-5 -- and 0-4 in December -- since the start of the series in 08. Buffalo also sports the NFLs longest active post-season drought at 14 straight seasons. Bills president Russ Brandon said the atmosphere at Rogers Centre versus Atlanta figured in the clubs decision to take a step back. "I think thats a fair comment," Brandon told reporters in Orchard Park. "Obviously were trying to build a fan base north of the border and this year I would say it was a neutral crowd. "Some of that had to do with how we played over the last six years, (that) has really not been conducive to building a lot of fans that were NFL fans, but were trying to make them Bills fans. Were going to continue to try to do that through a variety of initiatives that we will be working with Rogers over the next year in a very robust sponsorship and partnership that we will have that will cater to fans above the border." Following the loss to Atlanta, Brandon publicly questioned whether his club loses its competitive edge playing in Toronto. Buffalo has often battled neutral crowds at its home away from home. Bills games at Rogers Centre routinely attract a mix of NFL fans who proudly don their team colours and cheer as loudly -- or sometimes louder -- for Buffalos opponent than the home team. In fact, several Falcons players were surprised at the support they received at Rogers Centre. "It didnt feel like we were in Canada," said Atlanta safety William Moore. "I even saw a No. 25 jersey (Moores number) out there." Whats more, playing in a domed facility robs the Bills of their biggest home advantage: The cold, windy conditions that are the norm in December at Ralph Wilson Stadium. "Were going to go through a detailed full analysis," Brandon said. "Were going to look at every aspect that if we do come back we have a more robust fan experience and try to create more of a home field advantage for us. "Right now that was not the situation. That was one of the reasons we want to get in to a lot of detail with our partners up there and see if that is viable moving forward." Brandons statement "if we do come back," prompted a followup question regarding whether the Bills mightve played their final game in Toronto. "What I said is that were going through a full evaluation process and well work with our partners," Brandon responded. The Bills Toronto Series was unveiled as an attempt to showcase Toronto as a viable NFL city. Rogers Communications Inc. paid US$78 million to stage eight games -- five regular season, three exhibition -- expecting southern Ontario fans to flock to Rogers Centre. But high-priced tickets -- initially averaging over $180 each, compared to roughly US$51 at Orchard Park --and struggling Bills teams combined to make it a tough sell. Tickets were reduced to roughly an average price of $99 to make the game more affordable but even that didnt result in a sellout. "Its always very difficult to change public opinion midway through a project," Pelley said. "Theres no hiding the fact the series did not get off to a rosy start. "It tough midway through to change that perception, hence the reason why we thought it would be a best to take a year off then re-launch it once weve thought that through." Series organizers have also struggled to find the right formula to re-create the NFL experience here. A huge attraction for many American football fans is arriving at the stadium hours before kickoff, setting up the barbecue to cook a variety of foods while throwing a football around in the parking lot or breaking down the upcoming game with friends over a cold beer. However, provincial laws make that impossible in Toronto. The creation of the series also fuelled speculation Toronto would be the landing spot for the Bills upon the death of Ralph Wilson Jr., the clubs 95-year-old owner. However, Brandon routinely stated the NFL club was merely broadening its regional base to include Canadas largest city and generate additional revenue. Brandon said the Bills must take ownership for their role in the series struggles. "I think its been a roller-coaster from the standpoint of just the losses," he said. "Thats on us. "Some of the initiatives Rogers has worked through on their end have improved, but obviously this past year was disappointing with that neutral crowd that we had there, to say the least. I think there have been positives. As I mentioned earlier, the biggest positive has been the influx of fans back here at Ralph Wilson Stadium." Now the question remains whether the Bills can sell out eight home games in 2014. "Obviously last year we had to really work for our sellouts, understandably so," Brandon said. "Thats something that were willing to take on, that challenge. "We have very passionate fans and tremendous fans, but we have to really work to sell tickets here as weve discussed in the past. Were not satisfied until every seat in this building is sold. Thats always the No. 1 initiative and really the foundation of how we run our business." Mark Jackson Jersey . Snedekers best result so far this year is a tie for eighth place at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. He sits 113th in FedEx Cup standings and has dropped to 31st in world rankings — not the results expected from a player ranked fourth in the world only two years ago. Derrick McKey Jersey .J. -- The New Jersey Devils are so bad in shootouts, coach Pete DeBoer doesnt mind seeing his team take chances in the five-minute overtime. https://www.cheappacers.com/ . Or take a relaxing vacation somewhere warm. Brayden Schenn and Scott Hartnell scored, Ray Emery stopped 32 shots and the Flyers beat the Calgary Flames 2-1 on Saturday for their fourth straight victory. The Toronto Blue Jays will attempt to bounce back, as they begin a three-game set against Cleveland with the struggling Justin Masterson on the mound for the Indians. The Blue Jays lost both installments of their double-header with the Twins on Thursday, falling 7-0 in the early game before suffering a 9-5 setback in the second matchup. Toronto went into the eighth inning of the second half of the doubleheader holding a 5-3 advantage, but the Twins responded with a six-run surge in the bottom part of the inning that put the game out of reach. Torontos bullpen had been one of its major strengths this season, however three relievers combined to walk a franchise-record eight batters and throw three wild pitches in the costly eighth inning on Thursday. "We just couldnt throw strikes, we didnt pitch very good all series," manager John Gibbons said after the game. "Its cold, OK, but you know what? Its cold for both sides, and if youre ever going to get to October in the playoffs, its going to be cold. We didnt pitch very well. We were in a position to win that one and we coughed it up." Jose Bautista belted a solo shot and scored twice for the Blue Jays, who went 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. Bautista is pacing the club with six homers, 11 RBI and 14 runs scored, while Melky Cabrera is batting a team-best .301. Torontos poor performance pit it two games back of the AL East-leading Yankees. The Blue Jays will look to bounce back with right-hander Drew Hutchison on the hill. Although he held the Orioles scoreless for six innings in his last appearance, Hutchison took a no-decision due to a lack of run support. He wwill face Masterson, who was expecting to be Clevelands ace once again after recording a team-high 14 wins during a 2013 run to the playoffs. James Edwards Jersey. However, 2014 has been a different story for Masterson and the Indians, who rank 25th in the MLB in ERA (4.35) and 22nd in quality starts with six. Masterson was lucky to avoid a losing decision in his last appearance as he surrendered six runs (five earned) while walking five in just 4 2/3 innings of work versus the White Sox. Masterson seems to believe its only a matter of time before Clevelands starting staff gets back on track. "We just havent been able to get deep into the ballgame," Masterson said. "I think weve all had glimpses of great things, and then weve kind of gotten unraveled ever so slightly as weve gone along. Again, and you look at it, too, been some tough breaks for other guys. You look at certain plays that go this way or that way and it could be a lot different story." The Tribe were defeated, 7-5, by Detroit on Thursday to conclude their seven- game road swing. Clevelands offense was impressive in the setback. Michael Brantley hit a two-run homer and added a two-run single, while Lonnie Chisenhall went 4-for-4 and David Murphy knocked in Clevelands other run. Chisenhall raised his average to .522 after 23 at-bats in the loss. Jason Kipnis was ejected in the third inning for arguing balls and strikes with the bases loaded for the final out of the third inning. The five Cleveland batters who have faced the 23-year old Hutchison in the past have gone a combined 8-for-13 with one walk against him. The Indians are 3-3 in six games at Progressive Field in 2014. hek his backing for the duration of the 2014-15 season, sayin

MIAMI -- Preparing for his first trip to the World Cup, Rickie Lambert epitomizes the player who never gave up on his dream. Air Force 1 Grey Fake . Calling him an England striker would have been unthinkable before the last World Cup four years ago when he had just completed another season in the third tier of English football. But the 32-year-old Lambert is now in Miami as part of the 23-man squad heading to Brazil, and is getting ready to represent his country on the sports biggest stage. Enriching the fairytale aspect, Lambert on Monday completed his move from Southampton back to Premier League giant Liverpool, the club he supported as a boy but that discarded him as a player when he was 15. Out of football, Lambert found work in a beetroot factory, earning just 20 pounds a day. "It was absolutely devastating," Lambert recalled Monday. "I can remember at the time thinking I wasnt going to be a footballer -- Id been dropped from Liverpool and it was the end of the world for me. I was so devastated. "At the time, I thought nothing was ever going to feel worse than that, but I can tell people now life goes on and you shouldnt let it hit you too much ... but I never thought Id manage to get back." Following the pain of being rejected, Lambert forced his way through the lower leagues of English football, away from the glamor and riches of the Premier League, playing at Macclesfield, Stockport, Rochdale and Bristol Rovers before ending up at Southampton in 2009. On the south coast, Lambert established himself as a prolific scorer, helping power Southampton from the third tier to the Premier League and an eighth-place finish last month. By that point England coach Roy Hodgson had taken note, calling Lambert up for international duty for the first time last August. It was a dream debut at the age of 31, scoring the winning goal in a friendly against archrival Scotland with his first touch at Wembley Stadium. "Its an unfortunate truth if you want to get recognized at the top level you have to be playing at the top level," Hodgson said recently. Lambert is likely to see limited playing time at the World Cup, where Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge are expected to be the first-choice strikers. But he is likely to earn a fifth cap against Ecuador on Wednesday at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, but England could be relying on him for penalties in Brazil, having scored all 34 spot kicks for Southampton and only missing two in his career. "Im living a dream," Lambert said. "There is a buzz about the group at the moment and there is a lot of confidence." Whatever happens at the World Cup, Lambert is likely to make his debut soon in club footballs biggest competition, the Champions League, after completing his 4-million pound ($6.7 million) move to Liverpool. "Its going to be hard to keep my emotions in check the first time I pull on the Liverpool shirt," Lambert said on Liverpools website. "Its going to be very emotional, not just for me but also for my family. These kind of moments are driving me on. When I get these moments, I seem to produce my best performances and Im able to use it to my advantage." Lambert will provide competition up front for Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, with Liverpool needing more strikers in its squad after qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in five years. "There isnt much sentiment in football and I dont think this move is anything to do with that," Lambert said. "Ive loved this club all my life. I left here 17 years ago -- and I havent stopped loving it since." Speaking to TSN’s The Drive with Dave Naylor, Shanahan addressed a hectic week that saw the team fire head coach Randy Carlyle. “Our fans are angry. Our fans are frustrated. We’ve not been a very good team for many, many years. So that frustration and that anger is well earned,” Shanahan said. “The players understand that the only way out of this is to go out and play better hockey and to have success.” One player that has been a lightning rod for criticism since Carlyle’s firing is winger Phil Kessel, who has been fielding questions and comments on multiple fronts. Shanahan addressed the Kessel concerns, calling the 27-year-old “one of the most dangerous, talented players in the NHL.” “I think if you talk to Phil he’s going to be the first one to admit that he’s frustrated we’re not winning. He knows that he’s not happy when he’s not scoring. He wants this team to win.” But the President would not let the perennial All-Star off the hook for his part in the team’s current 10th-place showing in the Eastern Conference. “We need more from Phil, Phil knows that,” Shanahan added. “I think that the frustrating part for Phil is that he has been such a consistent performer as far as output of goals year, after year, after year. That comes with the territory of being a star player. When your team doesn’t win, it really doesn’t matter what your individual success is. People are going to want more.” The often media-shy Kessel has received his share of questions in the wake of Carlyle’s Tuesday dismissal. The Leafs’ top goal-scorer and point-getter every season since his 2009 arrival in Toronto was asked Tuesday if he believed he was a difficult player to coach and had to withstand criticism from his previous coach, Ron Wilson. “You can’t rely on Phil. It’s just the way it is,” Wilson – who coached Kessel for parts of three seasons - told TSN Radio on Tuesday. “He comes and goes, and he gets emotional. He lets that affect his game and his relationship with other players.” Shanahan was less than appreciative of the former coach’s comments. “I’ve got a lot of respect for Ron Wilson,” he told TSN Drive. “I don’t think that those comments are necessary. I think that he probably wouldn’t have appreciated it while he was a coach and it’s not something that helps us. Air Force 1 Blue Fake. He has a good relationship with Dave Nonis, so if he has advice or anything he wants to give, he could certainly make the call.” As for his core group, Shanahan admitted that praise and criticism come in equal measure depending on the results on the ice. “When you have success, your top players, your leaders, your core players get more credit than they deserve. When you don’t have success you will get more blame, maybe, than you deserve. They understand that this is about results and they understand that there is a lot of pressure on them to get those results.” But Shanahan would admit that there is still work to be done both on and off the ice. “They haven’t gotten the job done yet,” he said of his players, adding of his own performance: “I certainly wasn’t brought in here and I haven’t built the infrastructure of a management team that came to Toronto to simply have a good team that contends for the playoffs each and every year. Like a lot of teams in the NHL, it’s our goal to be a great team.” “I know our fans are frustrated and they’d like for this to happen overnight , but that’s just simply not the way it works here.” Shanahan addressed the Toronto media earlier on Friday, touching on several topics including the time-line for hiring a permanent replacement for Carlyle, the performance of both his players and his management team. He gave interim head coach Peter Horachek his backing for the duration of the 2014-15 season, saying: “Were going to wait until the off-season now. Ive been pleased with just the early reports from Peter,” he added. Peter will be one of the people that we will consider at the end of the year but were going to wait until the end of the year. As for how the team will respond, Shanahan told the media on Wednesday that the coaching change puts the onus back on the players to make the second half of the year a success. How theyre going to be defined is really up to them at this point,” he told reporters. “I also wanted to make it very clear to them that were watching and that were on it. Whether weve seen some good things or bad things theyre not getting by us, theyre not escaping us. Were not going to be a group that is afraid to act if we feel were going to be able to make ourselves better. ' ' '

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork. Robert Franks Jersey .com) - Braden Holtby recorded his 15th career shutout and the Washington Capitals clipped the Philadelphia Flyers, 1-0, at Verizon Center. Holtby, who authored a contentious 7-0 whitewash against Wednesdays opponent back on Nov. 1, 2013, enjoyed a calmer decision this time around, stopping all 21 shots he faced to record his fourth clean sheet this season. Jason Chimera supplied the necessary offense early in the first period for the Capitals, who improved to 6-0-1 in the month of January. Rob Zepp made 25 saves but suffered his first NHL defeat in his third career start for the Flyers, who were coming off a 3-1-0 homestand including a 7-3 win over Tampa Bay on Monday. Galchenyuk has been out since Jan. 6 with a broken right hand.CINCINNATI, Ohio -- An error that let in a run, a two-run homer that turned things around. Jay Bruces introduction to first base ended up being a big hit. Bruce played first base for the first time since high school and committed an error that let in an unearned run Monday night, but later homered to help the Cincinnati Reds rally for a 9-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs in the opener of a five-game series. "I ended up falling back on being a baseball player," Bruce said. "In the end, I drove in more than I let in. It was definitely fun. I felt bad about missing that ball. That was a tough play, but its a play I expect to make and should make." Billy Hamilton drove in a career-high four runs with a single and a bases-loaded triple. The Reds have won 11 of their last 16 games despite getting little production from injured first baseman Joey Votto, who had another test on his troublesome left thigh on Monday. The Reds were awaiting results before deciding whether to put him back on the disabled list. Mike Leake (7-7) gave up a two-run homer to Anthony Rizzo and an unearned run off Bruces error during seven innings. Leake is 8-2 in his career against Chicago, including 4-0 in his last four starts with a 1.71 ERA. After Bruces error let in a run that tied it 1-all in the fifth, he singled and scored on Devin Mesoracos double off Edwin Jackson (5-9). Bruce hit a two-run homer off left-hander James Russell in the seventh. Hamilton tripled home the three runs in the eighth. Chris Coghlan had four hits for the Cubs, who stranded six runners in scoring position. They had a runner thrown out at the plate in the sixth when Skip Schumaker -- filling Bruces spot in right field -- nailed Welington Castillo as he tagged from third on a fly ball. Votto, the NLs MVP in 2010, has missed the last two games with a strained muscle above his left knee, an injury that sidelined him for 23 games starting in May. Hes batting only .250 with no homerss since his return. David Wesley Jersey. . Bruce volunteered to move to first base to help the short-handed Reds, who have no experienced backup at the position. He was on the field four hours before the game taking grounders and getting tips on how to cover the base in various situations. "It was an experience, but one I hope I dont have to prolong," said Bruce, who expects to play first base occasionally. Bruce made a couple of nice plays on ground balls and plucked a low pickoff throw out of the dirt. His first error in the infield helped the Cubs tie it 1-all in the fifth. "I thought he did a good job," Leake said. "Its not easy for an outfielder to come in and play the infield like that." With two outs, Coghlan singled and went to third on Justin Ruggianos single. Bruce reacted slowly to Rizzos grounder toward the line, and it tipped off his glove for an error. "I thought he did a terrific job," manager Bryan Price said. "There was that one tough play that I didnt think was an error. I dont know if it was an error or not, but thats how they scored it. In the end, he just played the position and just did a terrific job." Bruces homer was his second in two days and his 49th off a lefty in the last five seasons, the most by any batter in the majors. NOTES: The game was delayed by rain for 21 minutes in the middle of the third inning. ... The teams play a day-night doubleheader on Tuesday, the first game making up for a rainout on April 28. The Cubs will go with LHP Travis Wood (7-6) and LHP Tsuyoshi Wada (0-0). Cincinnati will use Johnny Cueto (8-6) and LHP David Holmberg (0-0). ... Its the first time the Cubs and Reds have played a five-game series since 1999. ... Former Nasty Boys relievers Rob Dibble, Norm Charlton and Randy Myers threw ceremonial pitches. Montgomery, AL (SportsNetwork. Air Max 90 Scontate .com) - South Alabama took its first lead in its first bowl game with 1:20 remaining, but it didnt take long for Bowling Green to go back in front. What a way to snap a 10-year bowl win drought. James Knapke tossed a go-ahead 78-yard touchdown pass to Roger Lewis with 1:06 remaining and the Falcons defeated the Jaguars 33-28 in the inaugural Camellia Bowl on Saturday night. Bowling Green regained the advantage 16 seconds after Terrance Timmons scampered in from three yards out off a pitch to the left side, staking South Alabama to a 28-27 edge. Knapke lofted a perfect pass down the right seam to Lewis on the ensuing offensive snap to help the Falcons vault back ahead. Jude Adjei-Barimah intercepted Brandon Bridge on South Alabamas first play of its next drive to essentially seal the outcome. The Jaguars then forced a potential three-and-out, but committed a roughing the kicker penalty on a Joe Davidson punt to give the Falcons a fresh set of downs. Bowling Green recorded its first bowl win since the 2004 GMAC Bowl, when it beat Memphis 52-35. Knapke completed 25-of-39 passes for 368 yards with two touchdowns, Lewis finished with four receptions for 137 yards and two scores, Gehrig Dieter caught seven balls for 108 yards for the Falcons (8-6), who snapped a three- game losing streak. Travis Greene ran for a pair of scores in the triumph. No program had ever made a bowl game quicker than South Alabama. The Jaguars made it into the postseason in just their second year as a full-fledged FBS team after beginning the football program in 2009. Bridge, who was just 4-of-13 for 34 yards in the first half, finished 20-of-37 for 279 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for South Alabama (6-7), which went 6-6 last season but was not invited to a bowl game. Danny Woodson had six catches for 122 yards in defeat. Bridge hit Woodson down the left sideline with a 45-yard completion to move the ball to the Bowling Green 32. Bridge floated 18-yard TD pass to DeMarrion Buford-Hughes four plays later to trim the Jaguars deficit to 27-21 with 11:23 to go. Fred Coppet burst through a huge hole up the middle for a 31-yard run on the first snap of Bowling Greens following sequence. Montell Garner committed a pass interference penalty in the end zone on a 3rd-and-3 to put the ball at the 2, but Greene was unable to get in on three consecutive carries. Tyler Tate then hooked an 18-yard field goal wide left to keep it a one-score contest midway through the fourth. Earlier, Lewis hauled in a 44-yard TD catch to cap the Falcons opening 7- play, 65-yard march and the Falcons went up 14-0 on Greenes 1-yard TD plunge a possession later. South Alabama answered, though, as Kendall Houston broke off a 44-yard TD run down the right sideline to trim the gap in half. Tate nailed a 39 and 22-yard field goal in the second to help the Falcons take a 20-7 cushion into the locker room. Bridges 15-yard TD sprint along the left sideline with six minutes to go in the third got South Alabama within 20-14, but Greenes 17-yard TD run on Bowling Greens next touch helped it go back up by 13, 27-14. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Blues won a franchise record 52 games this season and general manager Doug Armstrong cant help but sum it up as a disappointment. "Were in the winning business and were not winning at the appropriate time of the year," Armstrong said Tuesday. "We have to fix that." The past two playoffs have been a carbon copy for the Blues. In 2013, St. Louis won the first two games against Los Angeles at home and then dropped the next four to the then-defending Stanley Cup champions. This season, St. Louis got the jump on defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago, then again lost four straight to end the season. Armstrong said that this years loss to the Blackhawks was worse. "I felt last year that we were coming off of a year where no one expected us to be good the year before and we wanted to prove that we were a good team," Armstrong said. "I expected us to take it to a higher level this year and the higher level was going to be a consistent regular season followed by a longer playoff run. So, this year, theres a true sense that we have squandered an opportunity and opportunities dont come a lot in this league." While the Blues have been one of the best teams each of the past three regular seasons -- St. Louis had 60 points in a lockout shortened 2012-13 campaign and 109 points in 2011-12 -- it has been a different story in April. Armstrong and coach Ken Hitchcock said that the Blues need to develop a killer instinct if they are to get over their post-season hump. "We werent able to create the gap in Games 3 and 4 and win on the road, which you have to do in the playoffs," Hitchcock said. "Thats the killer instinct that you need to have. We werent able to do it in either series, aand it hurts. Air Max 97 Plus Scontate. "Thats everyones responsibility. Mine, Dougs, the players, other coaches, everybody. Thats the part that hurts. We couldnt apply the killer instinct in Games 3 and 4 when we needed to in both years." Several players have been a part of the past three seasons, and figure to be part of the puzzle moving forward: forwards T.J. Oshie, Alexander Steen and David Backes, and defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk and Alex Pietrangelo. Armstrong said it his responsibility to see if this core group can get to a new level or whether changes are needed. "I look at the regular season success this team has had over the last three years," Armstrong said "I think our point total is probably in the top three or four in the NHL over that time frame. So, were doing some things correctly. But were not doing enough correctly to win in April, May and June. Quite honestly, I got to quit worrying about May. We got to get out of April first and were not doing that." One area that will need to be addressed is goaltending. The Blues thought they had added the final piece when the traded for Ryan Miller just before the deadline. But Miller, who is a free agent, allowed 19 goals against the Blackhawks and his save percentage was just .897. Armstrong said that Jake Allen, who had another strong year in the American Hockey League, will be one of the teams net minders. Who the will partner with Allen is up in the air. "Its a two-way street with Ryan right now," Armstrong said. "He has opportunities. I want to sit and talk with him and get his feelings about our organization. See where he thinks were at, see if he even has any interest in being a St. Louis Blue." ' ' '

With their chances at a second straight playoff berth quickly disappearing, the Leafs look to snap a six-game losing streak on Friday night when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers. You can listen to the game live tonight on TSN Radio 1050 starting at 7pm et/4pm pt. The Maple Leafs held a three-point edge for second place in their division following a victory over the Los Angeles Kings on March 13, but have failed to notch a victory since. The clubs current 0-6-0 drought has knocked it out of the playoff picture as Toronto is one of four clubs tied for the two wild card spots with 80 points. However, Toronto has the fewest games remaining on its schedule with just eight, while the Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings have nine games remaining. Detroit is the current occupier of one of the playoff spots, along with the Columbus Blue Jackets, who have 10 games left to play and host the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight. The Caps and Red Wings are idle. Toronto, of course, snapped a franchise-worst seven-year playoff drought last season. The first five games of the Maple Leafs losing streak came without No. 1 goaltender Jonathan Bernier, sidelined with a groin injury. He returned to action on Tuesday against the NHL-leading St. Louis Blues and made 44 saves, but the Leafs lost a 5-3 decision. Carl Gunnarsson and James van Riemsdyk scored third-period goals to pull Toronto to within one before St. Louis iced the game with an empty-net goal. Joffrey Lupul also scored. "The whole year weve thought we were a playoff team, and we still believe that now," said Lupul. "Realistically were still right there with these other teams." The Maple Leafs nnow try to avoid losing seven in a row for the first time since an 0-6-2 slide from Oct. Tracy McGrady Jersey. 28-Nov. 13, 2010 and have a chance to sweep their season set from the Flyers. Toronto notched a 3-1 victory in Philly on Oct. 2 before recording a 4-3 overtime victory at home on March 8. The Leafs have won four of their last five versus the Flyers overall and two in a row in Philly, where they have still lost eight of their past 12. Bernier is 2-1-0 with a 3.86 goals against average in three meetings with the Flyers, who try to avoid a third straight loss overall tonight. Philadelphia won five straight to grab hold of second place in the Metropolitan Division, but has since lost games to the Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers to fall into third. A 3-1 setback to New York on Wednesday moved the Flyers three points behind the Rangers for second place, but Philadelphia does have two games in hand and New York is visiting the Calgary Flames tonight. The Flyers also are three points ahead of the Blue Jackets and Capitals for the third and final automatic playoff berth out of the Metropolitan Division. Philadelphia failed to solve New York netminder Henrik Lundqvist on Wednesday until Jakub Voracek scored with 1:53 to play. It was Voraceks 100th career goal as he tallied for a third straight game. Steve Mason made 26 saves as the Flyers dropped their eighth straight game at Madison Square Garden. "I think we didnt play our game. Its like we didnt have any energy," said Flyers forward Claude Giroux, who is tied for fourth in the NHL with 75 points after notching an assist. The Flyers practiced today with veteran forward Vincent Lecavalier skating on their fourth line. Lecavalier has just six points through 12 games in the month of march. Mason is 2-3-1 with a 3.96 GAA in six career meetings with the Leafs. ' ' '

The final match of the Reds season could have been a celebration of the most unlikely championship triumph in Premier League history. It ended up being a tale of what might have been. Liverpool came up short Sunday in its bid for a first league title in 24 years, finishing two points behind champion Manchester City despite a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Newcastle. Brendan Rodgers team did their part on what proved to be an anticlimactic last day, passing the 100-goal mark for the league campaign after near-identical strikes in the space of two second-half minutes by Daniel Agger and Daniel Sturridge. That clinched a club-record 26th league victory. But Liverpool was also relying on a favour from West Ham at Etihad Stadium, which was always unlikely to happen. City won 2-0, keeping the trophy out of Liverpools grasp. "Im devastated for the fans," Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said. "Although weve made them dream, Im devastated we didnt go that one step more." If there was any frustration inside Rodgers after the final whistle, he hid it well. For Liverpool had the destiny of the title in its hands just three weeks ago, when it beat Norwich 3-2 for an 11th straight win. Then came a decisive nine days when Rodgers side lost 2-0 at home to Chelsea before conceding three goals in the final 11 minutes to draw 3-3 at Crystal Palace. It meant there was more hope than expectation heading into the Newcastle match. "We finished the season winning 12 games out of 14," Rodgers said. "So the players have shown incredible level of consistency and quality in that period ... wed prefer to finish top, but its a great mark of progress this season." Anfield has seen previous last-game drama, with Arsenal winning 2-0 here in 1989 thanks to an injury-time goal from Michael Thomas to snatch the title from Liverpool. Vans Shoes Clearance Sale. Twenty-five years on, Journeys famous song "Dont Stop Believin" blared out before kickoff. But all hope among Liverpool fans was gone by halftime, with their team 1-0 down thanks to Martin Skrtels own goal in the 20th minute and City having virtually guaranteed finishing first by going 1-0 up against West Ham. After a poor first half, Liverpool steeled itself to finish the season on a high, with Gerrard crossing for Agger to volley in after 63 minutes and then producing a similar delivery for Sturridge to tap in at the far post. It was all in vain. "When we went in front and there was no roar from the crowd, I realized the story was elsewhere," Rodgers said. Having started so positively, Newcastle imploded after the break in conceding two quick goals and then seeing Shola Ameobi and Paul Dummett both sent off. Ameobi received two yellow cards in 10 seconds for dissent as he argued with the referee about fouls in the build-up to Liverpools goals, before Dummett departed after a high challenge on Luis Suarez. Sunday was all about Liverpool, though, not Newcastle. From a seventh-place finish last season, Liverpool almost achieved what many considered impossible. "The word now is belief -- belief that we can be up there challenging," said Rodgers, who read out to his squad before the match a letter from a young fan called Ben -- sent before the start of the season -- which urged the players to believe they could win the title. "Probably at the time, the players and maybe the staff all thought the letter was maybe far-fetched," Rodgers added. "But I truly believe we could progress. "For us, its been a wonderful campaign of growth and development." The Premier League remains elusive to the 33-year-old Gerrard, who sees hope for the future. "I thought my days of title races had gone," he said, "but having played with this group of players this year the dream is back. Although Ive only got a couple of years left I still believe I can get there." ' ' '
